Who am I? Good question...
![]()

This is just part of a project I happened to start a couple weeks back. Now, it isn't by any means complete - I work on it a bit at a time. Hopefully, someday, I'll be able to bring the entire work to fruition. Until then...I'll try to keep this facet updated. Eventually it'll be in different posts, but for now, I'll go as I write. At first, I'm only putting one out due to how asburdly long it already is. There's a little bit of background information as well... The writing I have typed may one day be a twenty-five part set of biographies, all based on twenty-four characters of my imagination and one canon character - and they're all siblings, all foxes, all kitsunes (most of the time). The twenty-four aforementioned don't typically know of their past after being sent to Earth, and some have even met before knowing true identities However, if you were expecting any of the biographies to line up, that's something I can't promise. Each one contains events relevant to the character the bio is centered around - if they're there when something happens to someone else, it will be recorded that they were present, but not in their own history. Each character does, however, have a personal goal...if it'll be accomplished remains to be seen. 16-Type Standard Coded Element Base(16TSCEB): Fire/Water Air/Earth Entropy/Gravity Time/Aether Life/Death Light/Darkness Reality/Tech Speed/Sound Names/16TSCEB Codings(Alternately their status, replacing advanced ability)/Notes. (Keep in mind - as the work progresses, so will the list. it's not all done yet, as not much is written yet.) Order in list is based on age. ? Jade - ? - ? Jeremiah - Gravity - Light - Fire - Notably a shapeshifter, though it doesn't always work. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Ray - [See Notes] - Darkness - Aether - Head of the group of eight (including himself); seven of whom are 'pure souls'. May or may not have ties to the mafia. Jaye - Reality - Sound - Time - Miles' twin. Also leader of the group of the sixteen Elemental Kitsunes. Miles - Overall General - Air - Tech - Jaye's twin. Solely not assigned a group, as the to-be leader in the coming war. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Amara - Life - Entropy - Reality - Did not lose memory upon intergration into human world, is highly intelligent and by it a bit snide.. ...and that's the background information; so...without further ado... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B1. Jaye Granger Jaye was somewhat average until the age of eight, when he met up with the boy who was later to be his best friend and about half a year older than him, called J.P., who also enjoyed using his imagination as much as if not more than Jaye did. A lot happens in five years. Now, at the age of 13, Jaye has now gained much experience in the things of fantasy - since an idea inspired by a dream also at eight, he's lived among it in his mind, but now growing up, he often has one foot in one world and one foot in the other. He doesn't want to lose either. However, that's largely unrelated. Probably because that's his human history. The fantasy side - that's much more interesting. While things happened in the other world, that's been covered. On the imaginary side, which was already a mesh of the fantastical and virtual worlds, Jaye's young spirit wandered among the many characters and stories. Having an innate love of flight (despite fear of heights), he found himself with a fox. Not just any fox. A kitsune, which to his incomplete knowledge at the time is some type of symbol (he always one for symbolism), with power determined by the number of tails. What made this fox stand out is that he seemed entirely normal, despite having two tails, and was, consequently, being known as Tails. The things which went on in Jaye's mind are unrelatable for fear of being too personal. Time passed. Jaye learned many new things, taking up socializing over the internet and achievement gaming at 11, quitting it in March two years later, gaining experience in forums from that March to the major change in his life. Oftentimes...he had wondered what it would be like to be a character in the various games he played, what with the special abilities they had. Especially Miles Prower, the fox whom he felt so in tune with. Dreams gave some insight on the rare occasions they held such importance. Little had he known that interests he had taken up would both shape his past and his future. With particular interests in temporal sciences, photography, audio/visual computer systems, and forensics, he decided to go one at a time...at least until he figured out how to work on more than one (he wasn't really known for being good with schedules, but was mostly on time with things). A chronological experiment, literally just flashing orange once and then blowing up in his face, projected his conscious mind to the past. Time wasn't apparently enough, as it ripped through the continuum, ignoring spacial restrictions entirely, until his by now unconscious spirit found a place of resting, in one in the virtual world who seemed to have passed on (while, though, they had only 'lost a life'). Following is a log of what happened there: Jaye woke up, not yet realizing he was in another form, time, place, and Dimension entirely. Same Universe, but different Dimension. More importantly, upon trying to get up:i "I have gloves on my hands? Don't remember wearing any last night...or these shoes, or rings...and why am I orange all of a sudden, for that matter? Wait a minute...not just orange. Orange fur." Being almost certain of the current outcome, he had only to look at the grassy indentation he had left when laying there. "Sure enough...there's a deeper indentation there, and there." He looked at his back and saw the two appendages. "So it is...I wake up somewhere unknown as my favorite character of all time. I should practice..." A voice emanated in his head: 'No, Jaye. it is in your instinct...you will know...now go forth, and do things to help the world; you will meet me in time. Another voce echoed: Before you leave, take this with you.' A sword appeared out of the air, and it landed in the ground with a clear 'shink'. Jaye picked the sword up, pulling it out of the ground at the same time. It was surprisingly light, yet infused with sixteen different energies. He swung it experimentally, accidentally shaved off skin on his elbow, and saw his own red blood: a stunning but useful reminder of his mortality. Since then, he's traveled many different places, learned to answer to Tails instead of Jaye, met many others, literally blended in with the rest of the character line he's part of, corrected several times the notion that he is eight (In reality terms: thirteen. In literal terms: nineteen.) and generally spends his time wandering, looking for a situation to help with. He's also gained a lot of experience with his sword, and is trying to figure out a way to gain the energies contained in it. There have been particular experiences which have stood out, for instance the 'literal blending in', described as follows: Jaye, or, rather, Tails, happened to stumble upon a portal - a swirling, glowing, colorshifting vortex. He had gone in, only to find...well, himself, technically. Rather, the real Tails, from whom Jaye had gained his current form. Tails turned and saw Jaye. "Well..." he said. "You've finally come." "And just what is that supposed to mean?" Jaye asked. "Back when you first came...I was the one behind the knowledge, the instinct, the voice in your head. As it is, though, my time has been coming to close for a while, and the way I was to depart was destined." He walked towards Jaye in a deliberate manner, and when in close proximity, offered his gloved hand, as if in a a handshake. Jaye shook his hand, not knowing what else to do, when Tails began to fade. The remaining visual evidence he was there seemed to be magnetically attracted inside Jaye. Then, he was alone. Or so it looked. He could hear the voice in his head, and knew his childhood hero was with him in spirit. What's more...Jaye seemingly began to speak, not of his own accord, and not his own voice, while, if anyone was looking at him, they would see his eyes change from ice blue to sky blue. "It is true, I shall be here, and in contact this way if needed. Now, Jaye, you should be going, to meet the rest of the group I was with - they should be around here somewhere..." Tails then fell silent, and Jaye's eye coloration returned to normal. Jaye had been frivolously looking around for a while. 'Don't forget...you can fly,' Miles' voice echoed in his mind. Jaye, realizing his error, swiftly jumped up and began hovering, now having an extended sight range. What he didn't realize was that the group would also see him faster this way, and before he had even moved, a blue blur, closely followed by a red, was speeding directly towards him (minus the altitude). Jaye knew...he knew. He went back to the ground, only to soon be accosted by none other than Sonic, and soon enough, Knuckles. "Tails...where were you going?" Sonic asked. We had lost track of you for a while..." he dropped off when Knuckles also began speaking. "Don't forget what we learned from our stealth research recently...it's getting dangerous out here, and we need to stick together." 'Sorry, it slipped my mind,' Miles told Jaye. 'Now...I'll talk to them for a bit...they had no idea of my intentions.' Meanwhile, the other two had started to argue, which, by the flow of the conversation, Jaye had the feeling they did all the time. Suddenly, speaking about Jaye (or, to their knowledge, Tails) they stopped, and realized he hadn't spoken. It was then they also noticed that something seemed different about his expression...it was probably Jaye's eye color. Ice is a brighter blue than the sky. They seemed suspicious, until Tails started speaking, with his voice and his eyes. "I cannot explain all of which has happened, for not even either of you would understand. Know this: while I have passed on bodily and left my legacy to the one standing before you, I will remain with him in spirit, and I know, for a fact, that he will be every bit as capable, if not more so, than I was." He ends the talking and Jaye's eyes are again the coloration of ice. Since then, sometimes the group, which Jaye met later after that experience, was together, sometimes it wasn't. Since the world wasn't imminently threatened by Dr. Ivo Robotnik, they had temporarily adjourned, and most members went their own ways (including Jaye), though some, such as Sonic and Knuckles, stuck together. 'They're like brothers, those two...in both good and bad ways,' Miles often mused. So, Jaye was off on his own again, doing whatever good was needed. One night, however, he had a dream... He was human once more in this dream, and he was walking through a hallway in his house. Then, something which had not happened for years happened (for he'd had dreams very like this before). Out of an air vent rushed the two heros (besides 'himself') he was familiar with. Before he could ask any questions, they went back through the vent in a blur of blue, red, and, well...anyways, he snapped back into focus. They spoke to him hurriedly. "Battle with Eggman...Miles injured mortally...no time for questions." The venting system is, with absolute certainty, larger on the inside than the outside. They eventually turn a corner and enter a small room. Inside, as said, is Tails, mortally wounded. He lifts his head weakly...he gives Jaye a small ring. It is inset with a small but fiercely glowing topaz. Then Tails starts dissapating into a cloud of 1s and 0s. Jaye puts the ring on, and as Tails fades, he changes...and becomes him. The cloud remains, though silent. It follows the trio as they move on down the corridor. eventaully they reach a large area with three circles standing out from the ground, one golden-orange, one red, one blue. "This is the entrance to one of our secret bases," Sonic tells Tails (Jaye?), "the three circles open into three areas only the corresponding one of us can truly pass, and even if Robotnik knew, machinery doesn't fit. To key the machine now that he's passed over, though..." Sonic gestures to the air, where the cloud flies into a device in the center of the triangle and vanishes in an explosion of light. "Easy, now...." Knuckles says when Jaye cries out. "He's in a better place." Jaye realized he was probably not in on something the other two knew. For what seemed like years, he continued. Eventually the same thing happened to Knuckles that had happened to Tails, and years later, to Sonic. Both times, recruits who had been visited by them in dreams, much as Jaye has been visited, were brought forward and recieved, in order, the ruby ring and the sapphire ring. Jaye was now technically the leader of the group, and now understanding the tradition and hierarchy of this trio, knew it was only a matter of time. It did happen. He was caught full on in the chest with a laser beam fired by Eggman and shot right out of the X-Tornado. His replacement came through the passageway he had somehow ended up in and Jaye knew what whe would do, having seen the scene three times. He took off the ring he'd had for so long it had become lost in his fur, and presented it to the recruit. His spirit broke free, and all physical restrictions were lifted. However, he had a final duty. Following the new trio, he came to the circles seen at every base. He flew straight into it, saw the light, and the next thing he knew- He had woken. It was the next morning. He was still Tails. But something - something...something was different. He rose, stretched, and looked around. Something in his indentation in the ground caught his notice. Reexamining himself, he realized the difference - he now had three tails, though he had no idea why. Didn't that mean he was becoming more powerful and knowledgeable, or something...? 'As a kitsune, yes, that is correct. Good morning to you.' "Miles, could you not do that that way? It gets a bit unsettling." 'Oh? Then, pray tell, how would you prefer me to communicate with you?' Jaye couldn't answer. He knew Miles was still, despite all the experience both of them had, his superior in knowledge and in age. Or so Jaye thought. Time seems to have a way of catching up, though...a sphere of golden energy seemed to form from the air, heading straight towards him. It caught him in the chest, and he was forced far back by the recoil. The sphere finally dissappated, and he looked around. It didn't seem anything was different, and he wasn't hurt, though perhaps somewhat bruised. However, there was a house not far from here he could have sworn wasn't anywhere nearby before. Curious, he walked towards it, not noticing that an inhabitant could see him quite easily from the windows in front. Then Jaye realized perhaps he should seek a better vantage point. Flying up to the roof (which was slightly more difficult with three tails as opposed to two) he found a covered window there, and looked into a large room beneath through it. Inside was a large table, the seats of which were all filled. He could have fainted right then and there, though he managed to stay conscious, if by a thread. For, inside, the table's seats were all filled by foxes...a whole family of kitsunes, it might seem, and a large one at that. If one were to estimate...or, rather, be exact, there were twenty-seven seats. As might be predictable in such a large family, a birthday was being celebrated. Two, in fact, and the two in question were twins. They were both mostly orange, with some silver (such as on the tips of their tails, around their mouths, etc.), but strangely one seemed confident, while the other did not appear so at all. The glass of the window wasn't soundproof, so Jaye heard, and understood, all that which was spoken. There actually wasn't much of interest being spoken...that is, until everyone wished a happy birthday to "...Jaye and Miles..." Jaye's heart skipped a beat. Then another, on the off-beat. And again. Then he breathed again. It had to be coincidence...didn't it? He kept watching. They both recieved gifts...noticeably, the one Jaye guessed to be...well, Jaye, was given an ancient weapon...a sword, of sorts. However, it was said he would recieve it upon re-entrance. Then a portal appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, and Jaye was sucked in. Judging by the speech given earlier, this was part of a coming-of-age ceremony, though not all went through the mysterious portal, and perhaps some would later even in their older years. Miles almost seemed go undergo a nervous breakdown (which Jaye guessed he was prone to) and stayed a distance until later, when he began to open gifts. Among those were a set of tools. Jaye knew from before he had even come to this world that Tails was an experienced engineer. It just seemed too strange...until he remembered something else. Miles' eyes were sky blue; the other Jaye's had been the color of ice. His heart seemed to stop for an eternity, though it was probably only a few seconds. Jaye looked up, only to see another golden orb arrive in his face, smashing him backwards again. He shook his head to clear it and realized the house was no longer there. "Strange..." 'What?' Miles asked, now apparent again. "I won't go in a heavy description...just a statement, reaching some ten or so years back." He paused for dramatic effect, for some strange, imperceptible reason, which not even he knew...but he knew Miles was probably starting to get annoyed for not having a response. "Been a while, bro." 'You can't mean...that's impossible! Or is it...I can't really make refenrences of that type any longer, my position on the spectrum also seems impossible and incredibly difficult to understand...but...to the point...how?' "I wish I knew. Wait...I have an idea." Jaye then starts off on another adventure... Which, in this case, involves only drawing his sword and making the symbol he knew corresponded to Life, while focusing...focusing...focusing... When he awoke, he was still somewhat unconscious. His vision blurrs as he tries to look around...he can't make out much...there's someone standing over him...it hurts his head to focus...he can't maintain it. He wakes up later, feeling somewhat better but still sligthly dizzy. Sitting up, he sees his now known twin brother not far off, and approaches him, seeing that he's working on something. Seemingly precognitively, Miles turns around. "It worked...you were unconscious for quite some time due to the effort, though." Jaye hears that and something else...'By the way...noticed this? I'm guessing you hadn't. As twins, we...stood out...from the rest of the family. Unbeknowest to most, even you once you had been human and had your memories all but wiped, leaving only a few unnatural instncts...the point is, we had and still have a telepathic link to each other...somehow.' Jaye was about to ask his brother something when he saw some shapes on the horizon. One red, one blue. Knuckles, then Sonic come up, not even having broken a sweat...perhaps they were just unperturbable that way. The two, somewhat strangely, spoke almost in unison. "Hiya, Tails and, uh...Tails?" Jaye stepped forward. "Please, call me Jaye. Though there seems no perceptible difference, my eyes are ice blue, while my twin's, Miles, who you've known longer, are sky blue." He guessed they had also noticed the difference in number of tails and made no comment. Sonic turned to Miles. "Wait...you never said anything about your family before. In fact, I think you dodged the questions, as I recall!" Noticing the flaring anger in Sonic's eyes, Knuckles stepped in between the two. "Take it easy. The last thing we need is a fight, especially between you two." So, the speedy duo soon left as quickly as they had come. In the meantime, Miles was finishing whatever it was he had been building earlier. He still refused to show it to Jaye, but instead led off in some seemingly arbitrary direction. Jaye tries to keep up with his brother, but inexplicably feels drained more and more as they approach whatever their destination is. "Oh, right...Sorry," Miles says, noticing that Jaye seemes incredibly winded from just walking. "You wouldn't be used to it, I had forgotten. Just a little bit farther, then it'll make more sense." Finally, they make it to a house which is invisble until one comes very close to it. Miles explained: "It's set this way. Unless the secret is known, there's a negative, repelling aura surrounding this house-" "This is your home, and now mine, too, is it not?" Jaye asks, recognizing the building. A voice is heard from inside. "With no uncertainty, it is, Jaye. Welcome to you, especially after all these years." Miles just gestures. Jaye walks in, and through the rooms, until he comes to the large one he recognizes from - well, from the past. At the far end is, assumedly, the family matriarch, and she was likely the one who called. Long-hidden memories begin to flood back into Jaye's mind, and his icy eyes crystallize with the tears of joy being shed, for seeing his true mother, Rosemary, again. "Come, sons," she beckons. Jaye runs up to her, and buries himself in her fur. Choking back some of the tears, he asks, "But...why? Why this exile?" She answers slowly and deliberately: "Almost all twenty-five of you...excepting your brother here...were destined to go among the humans for a time, those we, in secrecy, keep from succumbing to the darkness they know little of. You, Jaye Prower, were the first through the portal, and, as the rest, as written in legend, will have found your purpose and power through your time. Every single one of my children was destined with a mission, sometimes working together, sometimes alone. It is not currently a time for legends; that will come later. I see you have taken the opprotunity, learned from your humanity, and returned here with your revered, ancient weapon. You were, primarily, fourth of the second four, secondarily, second of the same group as well as having an element base of seven." "What does that mean?" Jaye asked. Rosemary replied, "All twenty-five have affinities with, as well as advanced or basic skills with, three diferent energies, though these skills are more apparent in some than others. There are sixteen types of energy. As it is, only sixteen out of the twenty-five of you have advanced skills with these energies, while the other nine have other duties and places. You will learn more later...but for now, perhaps you should rest." While Jaye does go off to sleep, feeling relieved for not being in such an emotional chokepoint any longer, it seems that his instruction in the story he plays a role in isn't done. Dreams flow through his sleep, and he learns through these strangely fortuitous visions about the sixteen energies, all of which happen to be in the sword he recieved long ago. Jaye found that his corresponding energies are: first and foremost, that of reality; he can technically change the world around him, but only through the secondary; sound, especially music. His base, while not much was said of, was time. Now, some of the questions in Jaye's mind were being put to rest. Naturally, he had been drawn to his twin brother, even if he hadn't remembered anything specific. He also liked time and music, while at the same time creating imaginary worlds and stories and changing them as the ideas warranted...maybe this did make more sense...seeming to be conscious even in this world of dreams, Jaye tried to remember what he knew about his twin...admittedly, the information may have been a bit dated... He was sweet-natured and humble...had been picked on at a young age - no, that was probably the secular viewpoint...Miles had been close to Sonic, but given the reaction from earlier; had something changed? It might appear so, and Jaye made a mental note to ask about it...next...it seemed true from the flashback that his brother wasn't exactly courageous, but again, who know how much that could have changed, and the same thing would go for his aspiring to prove himself...on his list of 'likes' were mints and mechanics, the latter was fairly apparent already...there was more to it...astrophobia, that was the next part! Flight was, while fundamental, on the list. Swimming ability, too. That was about all he could summarize...yet, Jaye had no idea of what would happen due to the telepathic link. Thirteen years of information, later to be blasted through...but not yet. When waking the next morning, Jaye went first to what was assumedly the dining room, and found both his mother and brother there. He commented, "It seems so empty and quiet..." Rosemary replied, "Being the first gone, you were the first back, Jaye. The other twenty-three are still out there, in the other world." Breakfast came and went, in no long and implicit curcumstances. Just when Jaye thought he couldn't get any more bored... Miles suggested they go searching for a lost artifact, in the human world. Admittedly, it seemed a bit strange to Jaye to call it that, but...it was in his lineage. Going through a portal Miles opened with one of his devices, they came out in a grassy field somewhere. Miles retained his form, but Jaye was human again - the same as he had been before the messed up chronological experiment. Perhaps wiser for the wear. And yet, looking over at his twin brother, whom he had before thought an impossibility, Jaye knew he couldn't be more real and existent. Jaye broke the silence. "What exactly are we looking for?" Miles replied, "Early nineteenth century sea chest...should look strangely new...should also have barnacle-encrusted padlock...has to do with invention of Da Vinci...the Tempus Machina." "A...time machine?" Jaye asks. "Yes, and a powerful one at that." Silence falls, then, and they move out, trying to remain stealthy but also speedy and effecient. Due to a scanner Miles has...perhaps the one he built yesterday...they locate the chest on a small island off the coast of England. Once struggling through a series of encryptions, the brothers open the chest, finding a letter and a golden glowing sphere inside. They find, through the letter, that this orb has oft been used, last to aid a captain of a sinking ship in 1805. Then, having found out by the letter, they unscrew it orb along its equator. Based on the Latin text inside...it would seem that one half is a prepetual calander which can be set; denoting Time, and the other, with places for geographical coordinates, denoting Location, or Space. Using the device (once they figured out the controlling system), they sped homeward, being ionized from one place to the next in an instant and a flash of golden energy. Jaye, again a fox, somehow managed to keep a small portion of the energy from dissapating, and it instead stays around him. Then, he seems to have a flash...forward... Twenty-six months into the future, Jaye is outside the house again. He takes up his regular spying position, and sees all the recognizable protagonistic cast of the world he now inhabits, as well as some he doesn't he knows of, plus many he doesn't, in the dining room, holding some type of council. Miles is standing at the head of the table and giving some type of speech. It sounds as if...he's the main general in a war here? He stops for a moment, takes out some type of device, and presses one of the many buttons on it. The window Jaye's weight is on momentarily phases out of existence, and he unceremoniously falls through. "Good of you to join us again, my brother. Perhaps somewhat strange, considering that you're sitting right behind yourself..." Jaye looks back and sees his future self, clearly more experienced and time-tested, looking at him with some interest, but not total, probably because he had already been through this. Miles continues, "It would be impossible to relay all the information of what has happened...suffice to say, we temporarily need you here. I can explain on that later. Now, if you would please find a seat..." He then continues his speech, though it seems nearly over as he declares, "...and that is the plan going forward. Any questions?" Present Jaye raises his gloved hand. "Yes, Past Jaye, I'm aware you have no idea what we were talking about. I'll get to that later. Anyone else?" No one else had questions, so Rosemary took a gavel from somewhere, pounded it on the table once, and the council adjourned. Almost everyone dispersed through the house, but a silent stillness came over the building. Tension was rapidly building in the air. Finally alone with his brother and future self, Jaye asks, "Would either of you be so kind as to explain what is going on here?" Miles sighs, and Future Jaye speaks up. "We're engaged in war right now...with all the forces of evil connected to us through one way or another. This, our secret base of operation for the time being, is where we're researching the weaknesses of our opponents. Before you ask, which I know you're about to...don't forget, I'm you and vice versa...you're here in part due to the golden sphere you still have on you, and in part due to 'our' basis in all things temporal. Your reason for being here is, to the best of our knowledge, because unlike myself, you still possess the ability to modify reality. I gave it up for other things later on...that is to say, you will, in due time...listen. I can't really explain it more fully than I have to someone who hasn't been there. Just be ready for anything." That night, Jaye had dark dreams. He was in a largely blackened city, though sections were in ruin and the main road seemed to loop. He kept running, and running, but the loop never ended...eventually he ended up in a series of dimly lit rooms, with the option to go up, down, left, right, forward, or backward in each...they were all the same; unending...until he found a pair of goggles in one and put them on. They seemed to tighten on his face...he woke up, fur and sheets drenched with sweat. Not to mention the goggles over his eyes, seeming to scan for information all he looked at. Since Jaye had woken up, he seemed to have difficulty going back to sleep. Something seemed to call him from where he lay, praying for inner strength, and despite a felling of suspicion, he followed. Winding his way down multiple stairways, Jaye eventually found a room, deep underground, where he had gone despite all the signs and symbols showing clearly that this was not a place to be wandering about. In this room, many glowing substances were visible through panes of what were likely more than just glass. Off to one side, not having noticed Jaye, were an incredibly strange pair. Jaye would have thought on it, but irrationally his thoughts reverberated in his head until they seemed a great many magnitudes louder than naturally occuring disasters. Still...what were Shadow and Amy doing down here together? Jaye saw something else which caught his notice: eight gemstones set into a wheel looking something a lot like a compass. There was also a larger emerald stone in the center of the compass-like wheel, as if it could pivot upon this point. In addition, each of the eight stones seemed to have three even smaller ones around it. At that point, Jaye noticed the lines of what was likely energy, but they seemed to be traveling to only one of the twenty-four, the other half of the energy staying inside the mainframe gem. Now, Jaye had always been one for symbolism. He theorized what would happen if he made some changes...cutting that train of thought for a moment and glancing back, if he had to guess, the couple he had noticed were madly in love with each other. It honestly seemed as if Sonic was having falling outs with many others...turning his attention to the wheel, Jaye drew new paths and lines for the energy with his fingers. It now distributed evenly in totality, and he felt better for having done it, either because his theory was correct, or because if it was he'd just done something good for others. The next morning, as he guessed, both Miles and Jaye from this futuristic time period seemed less lively, though almost everyone at the table seemed more so. The former two seemed somewhat stressed and upset, too. This meant Jaye's theory was almost confirmed...as a precautionary measure, he had prepared the Tempus Machina for going back to his present, all he would have to do it twist it counterclockwise. Then it happened. Both Future Jaye and Miles attacked those sitting nearest them. The surprise element was almost immediately repulsed, but Jaye, managing to take a picture with a camera he'd built into his gloves, then twisted the two hemispheres of the machine together. The last thing he saw back there was his futuristic self lunging at him with an expression of what could only be madness. In the present, there was no time to lose. He had to disable the system's ability to be exploited! If he didn't, then he and...wait, that wasn't about to happen! He would never do such a thing, after all, that was only a possible future. Or was it? Future Jaye had done the same thing he had and presumably made it to the same destination: that same terrible future. How could he prevent it? Going to the past with the intent to disable it could cause breakage of the Unintended Consequences Law. Then again...it was, in theory, impossible to break the law. For instance, if one went to the past and killed a direct ancestor, for instance by firing a weapon, the projectile might hit, but the death of said ancestor would reset the timeline to just before the weapon was fired. That was all beside the point. Jaye knew he had to prevent that future. If not the war, the look of insanity in his own eyes. Oh, no...that must have been it. He had thought it to himself, as a fact, and it hadn't occoured to him. He would never do something of the type willingly. But...who influenced him, then? Was there more to Miles than the side all knew? It probably was...there would only be one way to find out, at least in Jaye's mind. He had to go back. It was unavoidable. At lease, it seemed so. Then a note fluttered down from the ceiling, telling Jaye, 'Yes. Get going!' He moved...and collapsed. All his energy seemed to drain away in an instant, and he began to lose consciousness, only just now being noticed by his brother. In the comatose state he entered, something new started... . . You see, he had a dream...it was told not much unlike a story. It began this way: Jaye was somewhat average until the age of eight, when he met up with the boy who was later to be his best RL friend about half a year older than him, called J.P., who also enjoyed using his imagination. Excepting now, though, rather than a temporal loop, by sheer force of will he managed to break it. Or so he thought, but rather... He awoke from the coma, feeling strangely different. He was spread-eagled on the ground, but...he felt one tail, and it wasn't one he was accustomed to. Around him were four recognisable figures: His mother, his twin, and, who else but Sonic and Knuckles. It seemed Sonic had been doing something with the Chaos Emeralds, but now the only one out of the group not looking shocked was Rosemary. She didn't seem easily perturbable, though. Probably due to the fact that she seemed to know all the legends and tales (and tails) related to the Prower name (which ostensibly made sense - she was the family matriarch, for goodness sake; of course she knew about her children!). She just smiled, as the other three were looking at Jaye in total disbelief. He spoke up. "Would any out of the four of you mind giving me insight as to what's so strange?" "Just get up. You'll find out soon enough," Knuckles said, then muttered under his breath, "Heh. If nothing more, the way it going I'll have him for training last." Jaye picked himself off the ground, at first somewhat unbalanced due to his mind's being accustomed to the weight of three appendages, and now having to compensate them. However, his instinct had also noticeably changed. Unlike his pervious natural tendencids to the air, he now felt something of in between the air and the earth - not one, nor the other, but the surface in between, which would now, seemingly frictionless, lay open to him. None of it was justified - yet. At least until he began a thourough examination of himself. He'd maintained orange fur, the white in places, the gloves, and most other indispensible aspects of those he knew in this universe. But then...he had shook his head at one point, and could have sworn he felt something more, something lagging behind. As if...hair wasn't the right word. Running his hand against the back of his head, he felt the spikes. In but a moment's time he was stumbling backwards in his own disbelief, knowing full well the result - somehow, in the process of what had happened, he had gone from being a kitunse...to being a hedgehog. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And that...is my current progress on that particular facet of the work. I would appreciate any comments. Edited by FlameFlight, Sep 15 2010, 09:03 PM.
