The biggest game publisher of them all is getting bigger and bigger with news out today they have aquired indie game publisher PopCap in a $750 million deal, with $650 million of that being cash. PopCap is well known with Bejeweled, Peggle, Bookworm and the award winning Plants and Zombies. (Source: Joystiq)

Also, EA has reached a deal with SEGA Japan in which SEGA will distribute EA games in the Japan reigon. The deal is expected to help SEGA Sammy with their poor sales in Japan, as they will get a cut in EA game sales in the country. (Source: TSSZ News)

With so many acquirements lately in the gaming industry, I feel some of the charm of indie games is going away... :(

I always thought Activision was the largest gaming corporation especially with the powerhouse organization Blizzard under their wing. That really doesn't mean anything to the topic on hand though. XD I find this interesting. I wonder what direction EA will take the company. They certainly do have a knack of creating unique and addicting games. (PopCap I mean.)
