According to the PlayStation Blog, the PlayStation Vita is set to be released on February 22, 2012 in the USA, Canada, Latin America and Europe. For those of you who don't know, the PlayStation Vita is the new handheld unit that SONY announced at E3 this year. The PSV comes with some unique features. It can connect to your television in HD, the software and games are solid-state flash memory as opposed to optical, it can connect to PlayStation Network, it has new social networking capacity through PlayStation Network (including access to Facebook, foursquare, Skype, and Twitter), and it can connect to the internet in two ways: via Wi-Fi or via 3G networking. The PSV also has advanced tilt-and-touch technology which has been seen on some previous portable electronics (iPhone/iPad) but not on an actual handheld made for videogames.

Of course, features are never the best incentive (as we've learned from Nintendo's 3DS fiasco). There need to be titles that will make the gaming experience complete. According to the same PlayStation Blog post, there are to be several titles on the handheld initially, including "Sound Shapes," "Resistance: Burning Skies," "Uncharted Golden Abyss," "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3," "Assassin’s Creed," "EA FIFA" and "Call of Duty." Along with these titles, more are to be announced in the weeks and months ahead.

Keep your eyes peeled; we'll keep reporting more as this develops.

I want one game on this system, LITTLE BIG PLANET VITA. It will bring everything LBP2 had plus touch controls, and easy object making using pictures. Oh, and any Sonic game announced for it. ;)

Is that going to be on the PSV? I had no idea; it wasn't in the blog post at all. Oh, well. "Little Big Planet" is a unique, fascinating franchise; seeing it on the PSV should be wonderful.
