FIFA Soccer 12 (360, PS3, Wii, PSP, PS2, 3DS) **(includes CE, GOTY editions, bundles, etc. but not those bundled with hardware) 360 - 393k (+14.9%) 3DS - >250k Wii - <250k (< +7.75%) PS3 - 240k~250k (estimated from Microsoft, Nintendo and NPD PR) NDS - <180k (>-47.4%) Source: NPD via NeoGAF -------------------- The last selling month before Christmas is always an interesting one cause the charts you see here will be very different going into November and December. This month marks the 9th month in a row that Xbox 360 (led once again by big name titles and Kinect) took the top console spot, and marks Microsoft's best October in history. Nintendo 3DS finally took the top portable system (excluding iOS and like devices) and is now on track (with 1.65 million units sold) to set a record for most portable systems sold in first year, an honor held by the DS. The Wii also enjoyed it's first sales increase in a long time aided by a new bundle that lacks Gamecube compatibility. This is a very huge turnaround for Nintendo that will help them into the Christmas season. Nintendo also has their biggest game release ever in November, Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, as well as releasing 2 Mario games on 3DS over the next few weeks. Major game releases though, like Racket and Clank All 4 One, Uncharted 3, Modern Warfare 3 (which has broken the all time record for first day sales already), Battlefield 3 (which took the top spot in October), Batman, several Kinect games including one based on Disneyland, Halo 1 rerelease, Gears of War 3, Forza 4, and even Sonic Generations (which my estimates show is selling very well in the USA), can put a dent in Nintendo's attempt to win yet another Christmas Season. Overall the industry was up 1% from last October, hardware sales are up 6% and software is up 3%. |
