Ok, so Windows 8 is out and people will either enjoy it for how simple it is plus compatibility (which is where I stand) or they will stay with Windows 7 or Mac or Linux. What are your thoughts on Windows 8? |

It's certainly something new. Just the other day, I saw an advert for the computer that showed the Metro interface. I can see it becoming a significant improvement over its predecessor 7. Many new features, improvements. Personally, I think it's a sort of milestone for Microsoft. Think of how long ago Windows 1.0 was released, how basic MS-DOS was and how more advanced Windows is now. Despite all the changes made over the years, Microsoft still manages to produce quality products while ensuring it's as user-friendly as possible. The only thing I see wrong with it is the new BSoD screen. The emoticon and the unsophisticated messages seem a tad unprofessional to me and appears as if it's aimed at the typical, inexperienced end user. |

I have Windows 8 and it is, in fact, awesome. But it takes a little getting used to. You can get it for $40 if you download it and use the upgrade assistant. It also tells you with programs are compatible. However, you need 20 GB of free space, no matter if you have 7 on there still. |

I wouldn't touch Windows 8 for a bunch of reasons. Where is the Start button? If I know one thing about it, I drew Windows 7's start button before 9th grade exams. Also, I read about the shutdown button. So, do I access the options to shut down my Windows 8? Uh-oh. Also, it seems like its been made for touch screen based devices (Nokia Lumia?, tablets) more than its made for PCs. People may prove me wrong about Win 8. But I'm 100% sure that Windows 7 is the best OS Microsoft ever released. It manages to have the Mac feeling inside it. Windows XP comes in second. But Windows 8? Who knows whether it will be the next generation Vista... |

The start button shows up when you move your mouse cursor in the lower left corner. Yes, it's different, but I like it. Haven't had any regrets. |

I'm doubting for the reasons Pooka listed whether I should use Windows 7 or 8 for a Mac Bootcamp setup. I know for a fact that every little application and exe will work with 7, but Windows 8 is so closed source that some developers dropped the idea of continuing support, including Minecraft. Maybe I'm quoting old news and this really is the Star Wars age already. That's why I'm asking for an opinion before I waste my birthday present opportunity... I mean, hard earned money :T14: |

Lol @Tails-san's Star Wars joke. Like I said before, Windows 7 is the BESTEST system Microsoft ever released. Its GUI has that kind of Mac feeling, and isn't boring or unclean as XP's is. Just to let you know, the first two PCs I got were running on XP. Then I lived 3 years beginning from 2007 until 2010 stuck with an old Mac PowerPC or something like that. It had no Intel processor, what a shame. Also I find its lack of free games disturbing. 2010, its power supply broke, and it had to be replaced with a Windows 7 laptop. Around one year later, I got a PC with Windows 7 as well. When Windows XP got installed on it, I was reluctant! I felt everything was a little harder and more maze-like. But I got used to it when Windows 7 was reinstalled again along with Windows XP. In other words, get Windows 7, San. Or if that isn't enough, I think it wouldn't hurt to see reviews of either system. Don't touch XP if you wish for a Mac like GUI though. Just be careful with 32-bit and 64-bit systems as well. |

Apple is not officially supporting Boot Camp with Windows 8 yet, there is an issue with newer macs that use Intel's Storage controllers. |

Great news, sounds like Bootcamp will be with Windows 7 when I get it. As soon as I get it, straight to Sonic Generations for me! |
