As many of you know, THQ has been in bankruptcy proceedings for a few weeks now. Today the results of the auction of the company was revealed, resulting the THW being disolved. While this means several people who worked for the companies HQ and some of their studios will be out of a job (Vigil being the studio that had no bids), many games and studios will live on.

The most noteworthy of the sale is Relic, who will be acquired in full by SEGA for $26 million. The move means SEGA will get the rights to previous and future games in the Company of Heroes and Warhammer franchises, great additions to the growing lineup of game franchises SEGA makes games for.

List of auction results as provided by Joystiq:

Relic and Company of Heroes
Winning bid: $26.6 million - Sega Corporation
Backup bidder: $26.3 million - Zenimax Media

THQ Montreal, with 1666 and Underdog
Winning bid: $2.5 million - Ubisoft
Backup bidder: N/A

Evolve aka Metamorphosis
Winning bid: $10.894 million - Take-Two Interactive
Backup bidder: $250,000 Turtle Rock Studios, Inc.

Volition and Saints Row
Winning bid: $22.3 million - Koch Media GmbH (Deep Silver)
Backup bidder: $5.4 million - Ubisoft

Homefront
Winning bid: $544,218 - Crytek GmbH
Backup bidder: N/A

Metro, which includes 2033 and 2034
Winning bid: $5,877,551 - Koch Media GmbH (Deep Silver)
Backup bidder: $5.175 million - Ubisoft

South Park: The Stick of Truth
Winning bid: $3,265,306 - Ubisoft
Backup bidder: N/A

Vigil
No bids

WWE
Not for sale but I have heard EA got the rights last week. I stand corrected, Take 2 has acquired this license

I'm gonna miss THQ. All the days I spent playing those Hot Wheels games. Last year was Velocity X's 10th anniversary.

I'm sure SEGA will do a great job, though.

Thank you for the info, Augie.

THQ made a lot of good games, it ashame they have gone to the wall. To my understanding South Park Stuios has objected to the sale of South Park: The Stick of Truth, so it be interesting to see if Ubisoft actually does get that.

Also, who has brought the rights, if anyone to Red Faction? Red Faction and Red Faction Guerrilla were both great games.

The studios and games that were not sold at the auction were fully closed today.

Red Faction was deved by Volitron, so Koch Media has rights to those games.

Actually, thinking about it, I think Red Faction was only published by THQ, my bad.

Shame to see any company fail though, a lot of game companies have closed of late.

.......why am I pink?

Wonder what Koch is going to do with the Saints Row franchise.

Yes, I do love to roleplay. I don't like any more than two people involved, and I'm more inclined to furry/sci-fi. PM or IM me if interested.

Wonder what Koch is going to do with the Saints Row franchise.
Saints Row has been one of the more sucessful GTA clones. It be interesting to see if Koch can continue making it sucessful or if they will mess it up.
