I've been thinking... is it possible to digitize a sound to that crackly sort of effect you hear in old video games? Something like the voices in this: Seems implausible, but it's actually a fairly valid question. |

For the voice you hear in the beginning, it sounds like the result of a combination of reverb, a mid-filter EQ and just a slight distortion with a de-clicker to clean it up. Edit: And a mono audio mix because most games back then weren't in stereo. It's very possible, yes. I could probably pull that off if I wanted to. |

When you put a filter through the audio to remove the bass and high frequency sounds. Think telephone quality. |

I won't be of much help with that because I use a much more different and difficult program. Even in that, I'm still learning how to take full advantage of it. Sorry, Frank. Do experiment and listen to what sounds best (or closest to what you're looking for). Remember, the reverb is only for the powerful voice in the start. Real chiptune voices don't usually have it. Edit: I don't think there's a new version available. |
