Hardest game you have ever played?

What is the most difficult video game that you have ever played? I am not saying that none of these games are not fun, but they are hard.

There are a number of games that I have found very hard, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Master System is very difficult, since you face boss battles with 0 rings, which means that during the boss battles you couldn't take any daamage, and the boss battles themselves were tough.

Also Time Lord (nothing to do with Doctor Who, sadly) on the NES was hard, but I think that was down to the old trap of awkward controls, zero recovery time from being hit, and the fact that health doesn't restore between levels.

Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles on the NES was also another very difficult game that I played, not only do the enemies keep re-appearing whenever you leave the screen, but there are some tricky jumps to pull off. There is also a certain water level which is almost impossible to complete.

However one of the hardest game I have ever played, a game that is definitly NES hard, was Battletoads on the NES. I played this very often with my brother, which, in most games would make it easier, in battletoads it makes it a lot more difficult due to your partner being able to cause you damage and how easy it is to 'accidently' hit the other player. Then there is the 3rd level (turbo tubes) and the vehicle section. The flying hover bike picking up speed as it comes to walls and tricky to do jumps that appear that the last very minute, and if you are playing it on two players, if your partner crashes you both have to restart. Oh, and on the NES version you only start with 3 lives. It was an absolute nightmare.

It is Zelda 2 to me. The lava part at the end is just... ridiculous. With the knockback and tight areas, it makes me feel like I'm playing Megaman...

Who can't shoot up.

And Megaman.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex for the PlayStation 2. More specifically, the water boss where you have to jump over Crunch's "waves" (I don't know what they're called). I kept failing and failing at every attempt. I went from 99 lives to 3 before an hour.

After many, many years of trying I finally passed the level last summer and eventually finished the rest of the game.

Oh, my family had (I suppose still has) that on the Xbox. It's soooo easy to die in that game.

I never did figure out how to get past that level in Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future once you get inside the alien-queen-thing. Nor did I ever pass the final level of Deep Fighter. Such a disappointment to get so far and then not be able to finish...and never be able to try later because your Dreamcast breaks. Those two underwater games were ahead of their time, though. The Dreamcast was so legit...ah, the good old days.

None of you guys couldn't beat a Crash Bandicoot game? Heck. All it needed is that you must be a veteran in one of his games (let's say Warped does the job really well).

Nevertheless, I have beaten it with some platinum and gold relics like if there's nothing to worry about.

Pony up, Tails fans!

Myst for Mac OS 9 systems.
An adventure game that was based on tricky puzzles and thinking things through. No walk through or help menu was included, but I managed to complete it once with dad, then multiple times by myself later on. The pinnacle of difficulty was a submarine puzzle which I had to draw a map for in order to complete.
A Tails fan, brony and gamer all in one!

Babs Seed is my favourite pony - she has an inactive blog here: Ask Babs Seed
My presence here isn't that common, but I still consider Tails to be one of my favourite video game characters. Somewhere between the Undertale cast and TF2's cast.
PM me and I'll get back to you with up-to-date contact details if you're into playing some TF2, Splatoon 2, Civ 5, Terraria, Minecraft, Puyo Puyo Tetris, or many other PC / Wii U / Switch games.

My lil reward for being nice or something.

@Pooka, I know I got to the final boss, and I think I probably beat it, but I didn't care enough to get all the gems to unlock the final cutscene.
The game wasn't impossibly difficult, but the way its health system was set up, you could die very easily. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's nice to have some challenging games.
