Preferred online gaming service; An intense battle

This is my favorite store on the Citadel.

Hmm, I'm not entirely partial to any. Steam is very annoying, constantly updating. I've never used PSN, and the Wii's online service was basically non-existent. Guess that leaves Xbox Live, although with the Xbox One announcements I don't think I'll be subscribing to it again.

Of course, there's always Halo.

Ugh yes. Each time I open Steam, I must brace for the following:

-Client updates (though they recently are rolling out in a much slower fashion)
-Garry's Mod workshop mine updates.
-Update your game files everyday!
-It doesn't even tell you if it started a download or if it wants to start one, and when it downloads, it is a bandwitdh hog whether you activated the built in limited limiter or not.

So clunky still.

Yeah, I really don't understand it. Before I started PC gaming, it seems every PC gamer always praised Steam for some reason, so I thought I would like it a lot. Like they were so willing to just bow down to their Valve overlords. Sure, Valve makes great games, but I don't like them having a near-monopoly on the PC game distribution market.

Steam's monopoly status also allows them to terminate your account regardless of the game, with the hundreds to thousands of dollars of games you bought if you did something very wrong, and that was in the Steam Subscriber Agreement, that it says for each game you buy a license for said game during the duration of the account.

What if you lived in a third world country and had somebody from outside log into your account to buy you stuff? Fear the consequences. How about you got an illegal CD key from a trade you thought it was legit? Fear you may get caught.

Yet their software despite the praise is clunky. You must spend years to boot it up, that's a start. They then remove /me, and puts emoticons for members who can upgrade their badges for them.

They're closing gaps (wrongly) for people to get scammed and they open others to do so. Sometimes the DRM will hate you. The only Steam game without DRM at the moment in my library is Binding of Isaac, which I'm not fond of and I don't like it that much.

However, that's the PC platform. The DRM is easily removed to be illegally distributed later... Hm...

I forgot EA Origin :P .

Yeah, that's a strong point. Steam makes sales from time to time, whether a daily deal, a weekend deal, a midweek madness sale, or seasonal sales (like Summer sale and Winter sale, both of them puts price drops on nearly ever Steam game. Since the winter sale didn't have SA2(B) discounted, I guess the summer sale will discount it for us all).

Steam is really troublesome I say. On my Windows 7 it starts normally then crashes, before I restart it again. Overlay doesn't work with some games (Binding of Isaac and any game for SEGA Genesis & Mega Drive Classics are an example), Pooka is removed and instead useless emoticons will take place for players with high badge levels (and starting a big scam wave), etc.

Valve might be a monopoly nowadays, but ugh, its still better than nothing.

And now I knew why the board game is called Monopoly!
Atleast its not as bad as EA's god awful client "Origin"

PS: Are you kidding me?!?! "Pooka is removed and instead useless emoticons will take place for players with high badge levels (and starting a big scam wave), etc."

Sometimes I go on Shockwave and I play either Alien X or Tamale Loco: Rumble in the Desert II. Both were really fun to play as a kid and in retrospect, I had some good taste.

I'm pretty sure that Shockwave is a tool for making games that you can play from the internet, but I was talking about the services that you get on your consoles or PCs. Mobile markets are not to join.

I think I NEED to remember about Origin and Desura. I have the free Battlefield 1942 on the former and gave up on the latter.
