Just got my newsletter and read the bit about membership and the bit about the members only section of the forum.

Should all of the forum be members only to post?

It is only £8 to join the club when it boils down to it.

I have always been in two minds about this. The forum attacts people who are not owners and are interested in the cars for many reasons but do not want to join the club. Perhaps they were owners of Locusts at one time and have since sold the car etc.

On the other hand I do find it a bit disappointing that current owners and/or builders use the forum but do not join the club. As you said at £8 it is rather cheap to join.

I would like to think that any responsible owner will realise that the site is funded by the club and will join anyway.

I don't know what other members think.

Perhaps an option to pay on-line would encourage folks to join the club any thoughts?
It would be a lot easier for overseas owners to join.

Hi,

I think that the idea of being able to pay online would be an excellent move, as you say Peter it would make it far easier for overseas people to join, and it would make it far easier for us, I always lose my cheque book as this is the only cheque I write every year.

Regards

Bob

Hi everyone, hi Peter,
would be a perfect improvement to make online payment possible. Would like to become your first member in Germany ...

As far as I know you would just have to provide the BIC (S.W.I.F.T) number and the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) to make it possible for everyone to transfer money ...
Could you provide information, how we get on ? Thx !

Cheers
Frank

Hi Frank,

I was thinking of using the paypal merchant facility that allows you to pay either with a credit card or paypal. Paypal are then responsible for the secure payment albeit they charge a small percentage. I think it would work out at around £8.50 to cover the charges.

I will discuss this further with our treasurer.

Cheers

Peter

Two other clubs I'm with introduced the PayPal option for membership payments, it is not only easier but increased the membership ;) .

I have asked the membership secretary if they want to do down this route.

As I said there are folks who are regular posters on this forum and owners of Locusts or Hornets based in the UK who either haven't joined the club or were members and who have let their membership lapse.

For the sake of saving £8 I think it is a very poor show. So come on, the club funds this site so get your cheque book out! If you haven't got a cheque book the club will even accept postal orders.

I understand overseas owners may have a problem paying but UK owners have no excuse.

Why not ban those who are taking advantage.

What do you think?

Not yet anyway.

Dave and Jackie, (Membership Secretary and Treasurer) are thinking about it.
