Wheel Problem

Hi all,
Just had my Locust put throuh the MOT and now I'm back on the road :D . However I've just fitted some new wheels 15 195 55's with an offset of 35mm instead of the 18mm I had to stop the wheels from protruding past the arches. However, near full lock the inside of the rim catches on the bolt that holds the bottom of the shock in place. My local garage suggested reducing the steering lock by putting washers or blocks on the steering arms
Has anyone else had this problem and how have you overcome it.

Cheers for any help

Did you fail the MOT? if so why not put your old wheels back on for the test?

How much do they foul by? Could you use a thin spacer?

You need something like this http://www.turnermotorsports.com/html/deta...UCT_ID=RACKSTOP Don't know where you would get such a thing in UK as the Escort rack most used would normally be modified into a quick rack not a larger turning circle as the rally boys would want as much lock as possible but with less turns to get there. It should be easy to produce something similar to the kit shown that slips over the rack ends and buts up against the trackrod ball housing. If I remember correctly from when I rebuilt my rack 18 years ago you have to drill out a small pin/stake that holds the ball housing in place to remove it.

Hi,

An easy way is to remove the gaitors turn the steering to the position you want it and then put a jubilee clip on the opposite side this has the effect of reducing the turning circle. and prevents the wheel from fouling the body.

Regards

Bob
