The latest database I have from the membership secretary shows that there are 80 current members.

We know of a total of 261 Locusts and Hornets. i.e over the years past members have registered 261 different cars.

The majority of cars (201) have only ever had 1 owner who was/is a member. One car has had 5 different owners who were members.

So everyones leaving the club, wonder why?
what does the club do for it's members?
It was always hard to get the membership to do anything, it was like the achievement of the build was enough, and using the car was just for shows an the pub :(

I would have thought that 80 members is quite good for such a specialist kit. It's not that it is or was produced in great numbers. I bet there were not many more than the number of cars that the club knows about 300 to 400 at the most. How many Westfields must have been made? Sometimes at the shows there are more Locusts and Hornets.

I think the club is well worth the £8 it costs to join. £8 it's nothing! For your £8 you get a website, a message forum where you can ask questions or contact other members, a newsletter, hospitality at most of the kit car shows, and on occasions some regional events.

To top it all I also get reduced price on my insurance because I am a member of the owners club.

Ok, £8 pound is nothing but what is the club doing?
We use to be at Le Mans every year, weekends in Holland, France and Belgium
and all over the England, and what now? Ideas for a weekend away is mentioned in Wales and all you get is it's to far. I got the same reply when I tried to organise camping weekends, Paul got the same when he was you events organiser. It's too far, it's the wrong part of the country, why can't you do something on my doorstep?

So again what is the club doing, are you still polishing?

Anyway enough of my ranting I'll just go back watching the half dozen or so forum contributers and wonder what the other 60 odd members are doing. But I'm still watching the forum and hoping next year to see some more things happening.

Thanks Jon for the Question and reply

Hi All,

When I offered to organise the North Wales run I wanted to just have a get together with fellow like minded people, the reason for North Wales is threefold, 1 I am biased, 2 there are some great roads to use and 3 I can get all my BBQ gear to the camp site easily. I appreciate that there is a distance to travel for most members as to my knowledge there are only 3 cars in the local area if you class Rhos on Sea and Stafford local to me in Wrexham. As for not going to Detling, I will try my utmost to be there next year and now that my car is on the road I will also endeavor to attend any function where ever it is in the country, if the little gremlins dont stop me e.g. I have broken my drive shafts, last one on Saturday but the car was only off the road for 1.5 hours, bent my wishbones and last night the gear selector popped out, but as you all know we do not let these little items stop us.

I will be throwing the invite open, as was suggested to me, as I believe it is not the car in particular but the achievement that we have in having built them.

Peter once said on here that we will only get out of the Club what we put into it and I fully agree with that statement. If we want the club to move forward then it is a case of doing something to ensure we can attract members to attend functions.

I was not expecting all members to turn up as I would be cooking for hours and getting "very relaxed" (need a beer whilst cooking) but a group of 8 to 10 cars would be a start.

Well thats my piece said, lets hope we can do something to enjoy our club.

Regards

Bob

There's a Locust in Stafford? Who?! (Or is that supposed to be me?)

Where are all the members anyway? It'd be good to have a list or map of Locusts and their locations.
