Hi All, Well I have started the rebuild by stripping the car completely, the chassis is not damaged so no need to do anything to it except I am going to powder coat it dark blue. I have to build a new body as the original is broken in 2 places, I will be putting a metal tunnel in now though to give me a bit more room and will be increasing the width by 2". I have ordered new front and rear wishbones so staying with the IRS. I am also putting a new engine in, going for a Zetec 2 ltr with the Bandit 1200 carbs. The colour is going to be the same with the stripes but the roll bars are now being gloss black. When the build starts for real I will put some pics up. The phoenix will arise. Regards Bob |

Hi Dan, I got them from a guy in Southport and paid £300 for them, I have since seen on www.locostbuilders.co.uk a company called Triton who make seats for a very reasonable price in fact if you look at this thread you will see that they are doing a xmas offer http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=125821 you can also buy seats similar to mine from any of the kit companies, I do like the MAC#1 seats though and they are also reasonably priced. Hope that helps. regards Bob |

Thanks for that Bob. Who makes the Mac#1 seats? I googled it but cannot find them. Also if you use angle to secure the body sides to the floor, how do get over the problem of carpetting etc? Dan |

MAC#1 is found at www.mac1motorsports.co.uk you can find them there. I have changed my plans and have decided to do a space frame outer chassis with ali sides, I will then carpet inbetween the chassis outriggers etc Hope that helps. Regards Bob |

HI, The main chassis is remaining the same, the outriggers for the body sides are welded on but not affecting the integral strength of the main chassis so it doesn't need to be IVA'd. The design of the ladder chassis and the Locust impressed me so much during the crash and afterwards (inspecting the damage) that I see no need to change it. I have only decided to add the space frame sides to give me and my passengers some protection as I do intend to use the car for serious touring, and as good a driver as I may be (fingers crossed that this is true) you can never be sure what the other road users are like, prevention is better than cure or at least that is what my doctor keeps telling me. I would also state that during the rebuild I am going further than I did on the initial build, having gone through the SVA and knowing what the inspector wants makes me want to make sure that this rebuild is better than what I did the first time round. The car will need an MOT and VIC check to put it back on the road and the MOT inspector is very harsh, at least I know that when it passes the MOT it will be ok. The only issue I do forsee is that I have changed the engine, I will keep the old one to show them, if required, why i have changed it, the crack in the block is terrible...hehe. leaked all the oil out. Regards Bob |

Hey Bob, how do you get on with the Vapor? Having seen the price of some gauges available, the vapor seems like a good deal. Dan |

Hi Dan, I liked the Vapor unit, but did have a KOSO unit bought for me as a birthday present, this I feel is far superior as you have all the warning lights in the unit as well as Speedo, Tacho, Petrol gauge or temp gauge (your choice) The unit is compact enough to have in front of you so thast you dont have to take your eyes off the road whilst scanning the information. Regards Bob |
