Hi Guys

been having some problems with my carbs not idling and missing and the like. re furbed the carb and reset float setting and things were a bit better but still lumpy and idling bad, so bought replacement carb of ebay and bolted it on yesterday and all was great idling nicely bit down on power but ok warmed it up this morning to set the timeing all still ok...... turnred it off to go get timeing light. then would not start at all smoke coming out of carb and no life, so sripped the carb to check stuff out cleaned checked settings, still nothing and for the past 4 hours been making diferant arrangment of parts out of both carbs trying to get a good one still nothing.

now thinking of going to the pub and see if that helps.......

anybody got a spare 28/36 or 32/36 known working config i can beg or borrow,

HELP HELP HELP will bring extra beer to newark !

If it was idling OK then stopped it points to a blocked jet. Strip it down and use an air line to blow out all the jets and galleries.

Have you an in line fuel filter? Is there sediment in the tank?

Hi peter Thanks for your advice have stripped again this morning and cleaned all jets and holes and check float settings again.

it starts idles ok but high 1200 with choke when choke removed seems ok then then stalled and will not start again.

new inline filter fitted a month ago and replaced all flexible fuel hoses.

plugs seem ok...

when stripped did not see anything in the jets or holes pretty sure tank is clean

will keep trying

Are you sure it is fuel?

Hi sclub7

well i think it is fuel related..... but after you post i have had a look elsewhere and have noticed that the dizzy cap was full of silver dust and it looks like the rotor arm has been coming into contact with one of the terminals so possible the cheap dizzy cap and rotor arm i replaced 2 months ago could be an issue.

although not sure why it would be ok till gets warm ?

will try and get some replacments today and see how i get on

thanks

Hi Guys

cheap slack rotor arm and damaged dizzy was the culprit, changed for some lucas boxed items and trade prices so worked out cheaper than the "cheap" ones result thanks again for your help .

going for a short test run this afternoon so fingers crossed
