Not gonna go into to much detail of the day as Bob wants a article on the test. All in all the examiners were not the same people i heard about.Just genuine people doing there job, tester i had was polite and helpfull.Ok the test not to plan ie pass but none the less i know what is required.Remembering that this is 20yrs old and have to pass a 2010 buid regs. Here goes on the fail list.

1)front wings to replace with cycle ones.Don't attempt to pass iva
with gull wings.
2)fog light only to work with h/lights.
3)little to much travel on brake pedal although brakes passed.
4)remove a clip i fitted on a brake pipe,not needed.(me being to cautious)
5)extend fuel pipe by around 2" over axle.
6)raise seat belt mounts on roll bar by 1"-2".
7)bottom seat belt mounts to move out to 350mm minimum.(might be a bit of a job that one)
8)vin num on o/s/f of vehicle.(ie engine bay on a riveted plate)
9)self centering steering to sort.
10)sign a document that i agree the weight that was recorded as mine was only approx weght.

All in all didn't come out to bad and the examiner very helpfull and anything not sure about to ring him.

That is not a bad fail atall, far better than my first atempt and that was a SVA.

You have a list to work too and you will hit it in a couple of weeks at the most. Have you booked your retest?

I have a contact for cycle wings, good quality and not too expensive £35 if I remember correctly.

Well done.

Regards

Bob

Hi,

Far from it, it is a brilliant result.

If I could make a suggestion, when you paint your wing supports cover the leading edges with clear vinyl, it won't be seen and it gives protection to the paint.

Working through the list well then.

Have you got the brackets for the cycle wings? If you dont want to use screws through the wings to hold them on use tiger seal to stick them on, it is what I have used with no problems, even stayed on during the crash.

For the self centering you could try a little less toe in and increasing tyre pressures this can help.

Bob
