Hi All,

Well my nephew Dave has bought a Locust, it is in need of some work but we hope to have it ready for Stoneleigh.

It has a 1.6 X-flow in it with a 4 speed box but will have a 5 speed type 9 put in, all we need for this is the 1.6 Sierra clutch plate.

The other major thing to do is increase the size of the drivers foot-well as he in 6'4" and could do with the extra room.

We are also considering bike carbs, don't know where he got this idea from!!!!!

New fuel and brake pipes are required and a general strip down of everything to make sure that it is all OK and then a rebuild. The main job will be painting it but we are looking at having it vinyl wrapped as this could be cheaper than painting.

I will make sure that he takes loads of pics and then we will put them on here.

Will keep you posted.

Regards

Bob

Great news, get him registered on here and get the photos up!

I wouldn't bother with a vinyl wrap for a Locust; if cost is an issue then you can get a great finish (especially with a solid colour) by brushing or rollering if you're not happy you can rig up a spray tent yourself.

Don't worry it will have a twin cam, just his funds are low and we have to wait.

A friend of mine does vinyl wrap so it will be cheaper than any paint.

It has a V5 so all we will need to do is MOT and vroom vroom off to Stoneleigh.

Bob

Hi Rocky,

We have stripped it fully so that we could paint the chassis and front suspension. The rebuild has started i.e. the engine and gearbos are back in, the rear axle is too as are the front suspension units. Pedal box is being put together, brake pipes being made this Saturday. Footwell is being increased as his feet are size 12 so needs more room to say the least. Full roll cage is being made. He has decided to have it vinyl wrapped in orange, I did try to get him to have it painted the same colour as mine but he wont have it. All the electrics are done and just need fitting once the body work goes back on.

He knows what Stoneleigh will be like, no difference to our Friday night drinking club.

Regards

Bob
