Now then Not very active at shows this year but still driving my Locust to work and back most days. MOT last week ready to go away for the winter. I tax it for 6 months and swap before October for my Mini. I've done over 2000 miles in my Locust this year and only had the top up once, MOT day. What with the Locust, Mini, my son's RS2000 4x4 and another Mini I'm restoring, (this tends to involve 3 or 4 of us drinking a lot of tea in a barn accompanied by my Mini, 2 Morris Minors, a Hillman Minx, an Austin Healey Sprite and a Series 2 Landy Safari all in various states) I get my dose of automotive fun or as it sometimes feels torture. See you at the Christmas do. Peter |

Hi Andy That’s the 64 million dollar question. I think that several points have changed the shape of the club, I for one do not have a locust (some may say I am to fat! others may be kinder), but I am an enthusiast of the style. Over the last few years I don’t think many new car have been built, donor parts will now becoming difficult to find, escort/ Cortina. We see a steady flow of cars on ebay but never see them at shows or as members, maybe we need to PUSH the club in some way, in the past some faction have suggested that potential new members have been snubbed at shows ,I have never witnessed this myself. Show are the only meeting place for the club but these are few now with the loss of Donnington, Harrogate for the northern shows. The cost of running our cars with petrol prices going through the roof, people are also in fear of losing jobs because of the resection therefore toys cannot be played with as much as would be liked. The above points are only my opinion, for what it is worth and are not meant to start a war between North and South. |

Just a thought i had, maybe as a club there should be more input to weekend camps/runs either north or south as the shows are far and few between. The cost of running also comes into play as you say.Just seems a bit stagnent.I can't see new members being snubbed as i have not seen that either.I myself was made very welcome and new freindships made and have such cracking times and meets/runs. |

A couple of thoughts......... Some folks like me are just not very Clubby, I used to have an MG midget and although I was in the club I didn't attend the shows or runs I like doing what I like doing. When I was restoring the shows were a good source of parts/inspiration but once completed shows held little interest. With regards to weekends away on runs etc my partner doesn't share my hobby she has no interest in cars so I can't really justify spending our precious leisure time going away by my self even if it is camping in a field somewhere. Some other folk like owning the car and restoring or in the Locust case building a car and then driving it for a while until something else take their fancy. The car then gets put on eBay and another project is started. How many members in the club? 100? How many cars were manufactured? I bet it is quite a high percentage of owners who have remained members in comparison to the production. If you get 10% of the members at the shows or on a run shouldn't that be considered a good turn out? If 10% of the MG Owners Club turned up to a show that would be 5000 people! It's also a distance thing if there are around 100 members they must be quite spread around the country so you have to travel quite a way to meet up it's not like you can have a once a month evening meeting in a local pub...... |

Yes Jon I think you have hit the nail on the head, one size doesn’t fit all. We are lucky in this area we have seven members within 50 mile area so can organize runs meets. Happy driving looks like a good last weekend before the sorn tickets come out. |

HI ALL Haven't had time for the computer for a few days. Rachets comments look proven from the limited reponse . I must admit in the past I haven't been much for clubs and then I joined this one. Although I haven't owned a a Locust for some years,I stay a member because of the people who make the club what it is. Although in the past I have tried to find members locally , the searh has been to no avail.Consequently its the shows and runs that I look forward to as away of keeping in touch. The main contact is with the lads and lassies up north and a few folks from the valleys. :D :D :D :D Lets hope 2012 is a more positive year all round and that we can expand on what we have ,with more get togethers in whatever form they may take ! BBFN Steve P  |

Hi Are there any Locust owners in the Norfolk/Suffolk area who fancy coming to the Scole Inn near Diss on Sunday 9th October. It is the monthly meet of the East Anglian Kit Car Club and it would be really good to see some other Locusts in attendance and have a chat. Most people arrive between 11 and 11.30 am and meet in the car park at rear of pub. It would be great to see some new faces. Stevej. |

I am hopeing that next year there will be more meetings outside the shows and get togethers one is already in the pipeline for july next year.If anyone has a idea/place for a meet pop it in events. Not all people are this way inclined but it,s a good way of keeping the locust name going and may intice a few new members. |

Hi Andy I am hoping to organise a run similar to the one I did before with an overnight stop, maybe use the same pub !! It may be worth looking for a pub or meeting point in our area to arrange local meets and runs say once a month. See you all next year, sorry I missed you and Dave for a cuppa the girls said they spotted you both and put the kettle on (I didnt kown what it is for)  |
