The Locust is locked away to for the winter and the Mini is back on the road. Just changed a wheel bearing on it yesterday and greased the suspension. Remember when you had to do that?

Hi All
Things are going well in "Grumpys Workshop".
Yesterday we finished the welding on the bodyshell .
This week I am going to cut out the boot floor
ready for fitting the rear axle and suspension and fuel
tank.
By the end of December I hope to have the rearend
stripped ,repainted and installed permanently.
Must get back to ebay ,still looking for a couple of
bits and pieces.

I remember what happens when you don't grease. My mates first car was a Morris 1000 the front swivel joint failed and the assembly collapsed leaving is on 3 wheels.

Steve what are you building?

Hi Sclub7
I passed my test in a Morris Minor.
I have stripped the Minor down to the shell and intend to replace
all the running gear including engine from a Mazda MX5 Mk2.
1800cc injection,137bhp,lsd and power steering. It will also have
reverse gear something I am not used to.lol
Loads to do I will try and post some pics but computers aren't
really my thing.

Steve

I am trying to plan a run for next year and one of my priorities has been that everywhere we go has to have a turning circle, just like the North Yorkshire run remember, It will be a lot easier now I know you have a reverse.

Thanks for all the emails I have received off every one since my operation, everything is coming on fine, still not had an alcoholic drink for six weeks but it is my daughters 18th at the weekend so I must celebrate that with a drink.

I have now lost 56lbs and must say I feel good not carrying a sack of potatoes around if you see what I mean.

See you all at Stoney have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year
:D

Hi Digger
Great to hear your feeling well.
I am not going to be about much next year , the intention is for a 12 mth
build and if possible a professional spray job. With that in mind we would
love to do your run so as soon as you come up with a date let us know.
The Moggy might not be ready but we do have Kims MX5 to have fun in!

Talk soon

Hi folks
as some perhaps know I have a season registration (valid from April to October every year)
This year the season did unfortunately not end by the end of October because on 03 Oct I shortened my sump considerably with the help of a stone ... :o

So the Hornet is sitting in the garage now waiting for the new (alloy RS2000) sump ...

Enough work left for the winter, but eagerly waiting for 1 April to come ... ;)

Hopefully you didn't do any damage to your engine.

A few years back my wife hit a gate stop when she was was picking up my son from his friends who had a farm with a double gate with a stop in the middle. The oil warning light came on about a half a mile later and both she and my son thought it would be OK to drive the 2 miles home. It wasn't the engine seized after about another mile!

Hello Peter

Luckily the oil lasted until I arrived home.

I permanently watched the oil pressure gauge but the pressure didn't go down at all.

If the warning light comes on (happening @ about 0.2bar) during normal driving it is the death of the engine anyways ...

A friend of mine with a Robin Hood also used a gate stop for distributing all the oil on the street ...

Hello chaps.

I haven't checked in here for a while so thought I'd say hello.

I'm living in China at the moment so the Locust is wrapped up in the garage at the moment on the battery conditioner. I've been busy putting a 1977 Porsche 911 on the road this year so haven't really done much with the Locust this year, but I did use it a bit in the summer for commuting.

Next year's plans are to sell the Porsche and the tintop, buy something fun for everyday use, and to put a new exhaust manifold on the Locust and drive it a lot!

Have a good new year everyone...

James
