Hi Peter These cars will imho become even more expensive in the future when they have been built before 1992 (the car's, NOT the Donor's date of first reg.) Registering a car like that has almost become impossible if it has been built after mid 1992 since the requirements of the "Einzelabnahme" (a sort of IVA) have been changed considerably. You will need certificates for nearly every component of the car. Since a lot of components are used from old donor cars you will not be able to get these certificates from the car manufacturers. German authorities are having a close look at the donor car problem. Registrations in Germany always have to be with the date when the car was built, NOT when major components have been built. Quite a number of car owners have trouble because they had got a historic registration based upon the donor's first reg. They suddenly have to fulfil the requirements of much more modern cars (e.g. catalytic converters) or their registration will be withdrawn. Especially the requirements of "pedestrians safety" regulations will make it almost impossible (even for Caterham, Westfield) to get these cars registered on the German market in the future. So I am afraid there will be no (new) sevenesque cars on the market in a few years. This will make existing cars a lot more expensive ... As far as I know I currently have the only registered Hornet in Germany. I know of two more Hornets in Germany which are both not registered at the moment. |

I suspect more and more Countries will go that way as Safety, Emissions and other Red Tape bureaucracy is introduced. On the plus side if I ever decide to sell my car I could get over double what it is worth in the UK for the cost of a Hull/Rotterdam ferry ticket. I started the build in 1990 and it was on the road and registered as a Locust in 1991. |

:o You won't EVER sell it, right ?? ;) But yes, you certainly get more for it overseas ... At least if the registration procedures will not be changed again. It all has become a matter of politics here in Germany ... Just stumbled over a bloke here in Germany who has bought a Locust witha Pinto engine. Don't know any closer details yet, but I will post seperately as soon as I get them. |

Your right I don't think I could sell it. I built it myself over 20 years ago so it's like part of the family. |
