My problem with this is that I don't feel it should be a PPV event, but instead more like a supershow. You know, make it a special WWE Network show or something. The reason being that no titles are going to change hands on the night, none of these matches are championship bouts and so none of it really matters. I mean, sure, we can hype up how Raw v. Smackdown is a huge deal, but it kind of actually isn't. There's no illusion that these two shows are separate companies and if I don't buy into that premise, then this is just a bunch of throwaway matches including two huge ten-person tag bouts. It's three hours at least of... nothing significant happening. They basically have to use this event to dramatically reposition characters on their respective shows' card. This means that something like a Mahal win is highly likely, because he still needs help building legitimacy for his title reign. Also, if there's no ramifications beyond the pay per view, that's even worse — so, hopefully, the survivor (and it better be sole) of the five-on-five mens' match will be set up as a contender in the very least. We already know Asuka is going to stand tall at the end of the Womens' match. Finally, this event could sorely benefit from a big debut or return, but the rumors of Undertaker coming back are hopefully just that. I'm Taker's biggest fan, but I think the man should let his legacy rest. |

1. This almost feels like Bragging Rights back in 2010. Everybody suddenly forgot about personal rivalries in favor of brand loyalty (where's that in February, or June, or pretty much every other month?). That's all great. Kayfabe is supposedly dead anyway. The problem is there's no point. The competitors get no incentive. They're just fighting because 30 years ago some guy said it should be tradition. 2. Lesnar v. Mahal is fine, but pitting every other champion against their counterpart is making it seem like they're only doing it because everybody else is doing it. The other problem with champion vs. champion is the "this title is better than that title" bs comes back. If Corbin beats Miz, the US Title bumps up while the IC Title takes a hit, and vice versa. "The Universal Championship isn't as good as the WWE Championship". That kind of thing. Stupid. 3. I heard the Cruiserweights might get somewhat of a Team Enzo v. Team Kalisto. That'd be cool. I'd also like to see some more tag teams. Maybe a pre-show battle royal for the jobber part of that #UnderSiege thing that won't be anywhere near the card. Maybe that winner could get a midcard title match within 24 hours notice. There's also some pretty good but underused tag teams. I feel like that would end up looking like last year's match though. Maybe that's why they haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. How to fix: Add incentives. Also, champions fighting against each other is meh. The winning men's team should get the last 15 spots in the Rumble, with the losers getting the first 15. The winning women's team gets to, I don't know... choose somebody to switch to their side. And as Crann said, sole survivors get extra goodies. Happy? Probably not. Go ahead and agree or disagree. I'm not the internet police. I can't arrest you. The government can though. |

The idea of the winning show getting the later Rumble spots is actually super dang cool. I think incentives would add an important element to the brand war for sure. I know its never gonna happen, but how rad would it be if a winning team was promised a prize, but a sole survivor, if there was one, would get something more? Like the winning team gets to book the rival show for a month (like they used to) but a sole survivor would get a world title shot instead. Just imagine the swerves. Nothing beats a good swerve. |

I do think something needs to be on the line in the 5 vs 5 matches but a later rumble spots seems a bit weird to me, maybe do something like the 5 men\women who won get put in a fatal five way and the winner gets a world title shot. |

oh, and if someone from the winning team was eliminated he wouldn't be in the match. |

Card updated. Since last time, two championships have changed hands and two more still could. What a world we live in. Lesnar vs. Styles will probably be booked like every Brock match, which is a shame cause it could be real good if more thought went into it. Very surprised they pulled the plug on Jinder, especially with the India tour coming up in December. Maybe he'll win the title back over there, who knows? Thought Jinder vs. Cena was rumored for Mania too. Also, Cena back on SD cause why the heck not? Wasn't he gonna referee the Brock/Jinder match? New Day vs. SHIELD probably gets added still. Maybe Roman will be back in time? Owens and Zayn should be on the show but word is that they're in trouble now so who knows? Wouldn't be surprised if Sin Cara and Charlotte picked up titles so there aren't heel vs heel matches. |

Boy this card changes a lot! And maybe will again after SD tomorrow! If anything, it's probably gotten better. Unless you're Jason Jordan and Triple H just killed any chance you have of being an over babyface for the next 24 months. If this is setting up Trips vs. Angle at Mania, how many more ties does Jordan eat a Pedigree to set up that match, and what are the odds he turns on Angle during the Mania match to give Hunter the win? More on that in the months to come. Anyway, Triple H working house shows lately hasn't just been for fun, but to warm up I guess. Can't say that the main SS match isn't as stacked as stacked can be. There are a few matches on this card that deserve 20-30 minutes. Hopefully they get it. What's missing? Jinder. How the heck you not gonna book Jinder for something here? I was never in favor of the big push, but like, fuck, can't just cold turkey the guy now, right? Sami and Kevin. For the love of god, put them on commentary. Or something. Anything. One starts to wonder is a Raw specific Team HHH vs. Team Angle and SD specific Team Shane vs. Team Sami / Kevin wouldn't have been the better way to go. Whatever. Discuss? |

I'm starting to think they brought The Shield back together so they could make room for Angle and Trips. It also sucks that Shane and Cena are taking up spots that could've gone to KO, Sami, Jinder, Rusev... Trips coming back makes the match intriguing as far as how they'll eliminate Angle. Will JJ screw him over "accidentally"? Will Trips just lie down so Kurt's team loses and Angle gets fired? Probs not, but who knows? I honestly thought the separate branded SS matches was the way they were going. Cramming everybody into the same match, with 40% of them being part timers and 2 of those guys having really nothing to do with the story anymore, or even to begin with. "Hey guys. I've got an idea. Think of all of our top draws that we have readily available. Got it? Good. That's our Survivor Series match. Book it, Vince!" |

I think the Shield/New Day thing is honestly just a quick and dirty way to sell a few more last-minute tickets. They've clearly been building up a Shield reunion for a while now, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of 'all titles on the line' match between The Shield and Miz/The Bar at the next PPV (with Dean and Seth taking the tag and Roman taking the IC). Roman in the least needed the Shield to help him get over again (and it really is rehabbing his character — look at how many people were cheering him during the segment with Angle and Stephanie) and some time with his old chums and the IC title might work wonders for him. This way, too, he can be a realistic threat for the likes of someone such as Braun Strowman, who I think is likely the one that will knock off Brock Lesnar. I think they're working toward a Jason Jordan/Kurt Angle, uhh... angle. I'm almost certain you're going to see some JJ interference at Survivor Series that will kick off a storyline where Jordan goes proper face against HHH/the management and after some wishy-washy hmming and hawing, Kurt will ultimately side with him, getting him fired from the GM job. Angle will then come on as a manager for Jordan full time, which would be a good thing because JJ sucks on the mic and needs a mouthpiece. Either that, or they're going to do some big reveal that HHH was screwing with Kurt and Jordan was never really his son, but a plant to help Kurt get fired (muahahaha), leading to a Mania match between Trips and Angle. Realistically they need to stop with this nonsense drama and get to the payoff, because the storyline itself was painfully contrived to begin with. |
