NJPW Power Struggle this weekend. If you don't have new japan world then you're wrong.

Tanahashi vs. Ibushi for the IC title, Omega vs. Baretta for the US title, Ospreay vs. Scurll for the Jr. HW title plus the Bucks vs. Dragon Lee and Titan and all the usual filler tags (including CHAOS vs LIJ for the Okada-Naito build). Also Suzuki vs. Yano for the NEVER title if you're into that sort of thing.

Anyway, top three matches should all be real good. Tanahashi vs. Ibushi should be super super good, even.

Not doing Omega vs. Ibushi at WK is a travesty, but one of them would have to lose here probably, and given that this show is a direct set up show for that, kinda hard to see it happening. But you never know. I could see them using Baretta going down as a set-up for Goto vs Omega maybe? And god willing, Suzuki murdering Yano to set up a match with Ishii. Tanahashi vs. Ibushi is about as good a match on paper as you can make, I'm not sure who that leaves the winner with at the Dome.

Anyway, if you're into New Japan, speculate with me. If you're not, this would be a great first show for you to check out, and it's only like 13 bucks a month (probably a little less in American money) to sign up. Do it. And then talk with me about it.

13 bucks a month? It's only 9.99 over here in the States, yeesh.

Anywho yes- Power Struggle's gonna be off the hook. I keep updated on NJPW periodically but rarely sit down to watch a full show. It's a lot of filler and kind of hard to fit into my schedule, but this card is one I'm definitely dedicating a night too.

Omega/Barreta and Ibushi/Tanahashi are just waiting to have near 5-star rating stamped on them. I think Omega's true when he says he can get a good match out of anyone, and this is Barreta's time to shine and show off the goods. No chance he's gonna take the belt from Omega with this buildup to Wrestle Kingdom though, but it should give him some certification to be in the Heavyweight classes.

I may be wrong on this giving my lack of knowing the latest storytelling leading up to Power Struggle but what's preventing Ibushi/Omega at WK exactly? Omega if I remember is looking to set up the perfect match for it, so have Ibushi lose to Tanahashi and build up the match against Omega. Though Goto should definitely get a shot at a belt soon, feels like he's getting shoveled away from the title scenes as of late.

I started watching NJPW regularly from The New beginning shows and this Power Struggle card seems like the best minor PPV card we had this year.

I agree with Gurt that this is Barreta's time to show his true skills and I see him winning with some sort of roll up or something and continuing his BC rivalry with defenses against Tama and Yujiro and finally losing to Fale, I feel like Kenny did his part in the US title with giving it mainstream attention but ofc he can retain and continue his "killing time" shtick till WK.

Well, Ibushi\Tanahashi is a different story if the result in Omega\Barreta can go either way this match has to go to Ibushi, he needs something to do and Tana's arm injury is legit. Gedo wants his former\current ace in 100% when WK comes by. I say give Ibushi the title and let Goto have his title match he truly deserves but Ibushi defeats him and we set up Ibushi vs Omega at WK for IC belt.

As for Yano\Suzuki, their cross promotions rivalry is something else, I'm a big Yano fan (as you probably guessed) and a HUGE Suzuki mark I expect this to be 10-15 minutes of murder using a bull rope (it's a bull rope deathmatch).

Also a fun fact Yano is 7\3 against Suzuki!

At this point, Omega vs just about anyone is money. I could watch the guy wrestle a bag of shit and still be entertained. But I'm most excited about Ospreay/Scurll. That match has the potential to steal the show if both guys are on point.

This show was super good. Probably the third best of the year for them

I really thought the Jericho-Omega twitter beef was to get people thinking they'd have a match on the cruise ship so tickets would move for that. Didn't know Jericho wasn't under WWE contract right now. Or maybe he's got some kinda special clause? Who knows. I don't know if Jericho-Omega could be a better match than Omega-Ibushi, but it's still awesome, and exactly the kind of match to help get the US title over as a big deal. I could see them booking it as second last match of the night. Curious to see how many of Omega's crazier moves Jericho is willing to take. I'm thinking it might end up being Jericho working over Kenny for fifteen minutes and then he eats a One-Winged Angel and that's it. But still stoked about it.

Kinda bummed Ibushi didn't go over. Not sure where this leaves him for WK. Maybe he can partner up with someone and win world tag league? Elgin or Juice would be cool. The IC title match was top notch though, better than their G1 match by a long shot and that's saying something. Got stiff as heck for a minute there. Like, real fucking stiff. Jay White is real good, I don't know if I would have booked him at the top right away, but he'll probably go over and be a superstar there, so good for him I guess. I hope he doesn't join a faction right away. They could use a solo heel. I don't think they have one right now, and that's crazy. Has a Suzuki-Gun vibe to him though, and hey, if they keep replacing all the terrible guys in that stable with real talent, I'd be a happy camper.

Super surprised Scurll won, but it was a great match with a great finish. Four-way should be top notch. Be even better if they threw Dragon Lee in there too. The Jr. Tag tournament final was also great, rest of the card was solid, except maybe the bullrope match, unless you're into that, then hey, you got it.

WK12 looks awesome on paper so far. This show was rad. Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega. What a time to be alive.

edit - word is that Cody vs Ibushi (or Castle if he wins at final battle but probably not) for the ROH title is happening at the dome too so there ya go

This was excellent stuff. I'm excited about this match for a few reasons, and I think it's possible due to the nature of being a part-timer in the WWE these days. I don't think Jericho is lacking a contract, I just think he's free to do stuff in his off time kind of like how Lesnar can go off and do a UFC fight and how some of the guys on NXT like Killian Dain can do stuff with other promotions, too.

Jericho-Omega should be a pretty dope match. It's the battle between two Winnipeg boys, and like you said, it should get the belt over in a big way. I think Jericho will take and sell a lot of the crazier shit. Bear in mind that he has put his body through Hell for some pretty crazy spots in his latest run with the Dub, too (that Asylum match with Ambrose comes to mind). I think this will be a better match than anyone has a right to expect, and that's speaking volumes since I'm already expecting it to be good.

From the sound of it, Jericho is still under contract with WWE but is working this match in NJPW. Pretty cool to hear, but makes me wonder how he managed to make that happen. Did he play the birthday card? Is WWE trying to woo over Omega? Is Vinny Mac softening on policy in his old age?
