In the spirit of your American Thanksgiving, behold, a thread about what you're thankful for in wrestling in 2017. Do three or more or fuck off. Pardon my turkey. I mean french. French-Canadian. It's not even my holiday. It's yours. Do it like this: I AM THANKFUL FOR 1) Never having to see Austin Aries job to Enzo on a ppv 2) Keith Lee vs Dijak at BOLA and by extension big guys kicking out of awesome power moves at the one count holy smokes this better than when superkicks became a thing 3) Christopher Daniels getting to be a world champion for a bit. I hate the "everyone deserves it eventually" mentality with world titles but dang Daniels has been great for a long time and during that time he once had to job to Val Venis on ppv... so... ya know... |

I AM THANKFUL FOR: 1) Aleister Black. Glad we've got him bringing Black Metal in a main stream positive light, ironically anyway. He's been so on point, and he makes a Takeover truly special. 2) Jimmy Jacobs' Return to wrestling. For a long while back when HDNET hosted RoH, Jacobs was a favorite of mine. I was happy that he went on to the big Dub, but they seriously fucked him over. Now he's back and kissin dudes mouth to mouth, what's not to enjoy. 3) NXT. Just in general, we've gotten back Kassius Ohno and Drew McIntyre. DIY kicked ass with The Revival and AoP in their triple threat match. Takeover is always a blast. NXT makes me love wrestling in general. Either everyone else responds to this thread or I demand a Turkey on a Pole match. |

I AM THANKFUL FOR: 1. The WWE's UK division, the UK tournament, and everything we've gotten as a result of that. Wrestling's future is in the UK and it was a sage move by the WWE to put a tournament there and dedicate a belt to the region. And that Pete Dunne-Tyler Bate match is probably the best match of the year, but easily a MOTY contender. 2. The reunion of the Shield. Roman will get some much-needed rehab, and I honestly think all three guys are better as a unit than as lone agents, as has been evidenced by crowd response and how over they are as a group. 3. Braun Strowman. It's so rare that the Dub books a big guy in a smart way but they've really been knocking Strowman out of the park, feeding him credible opponents and making him one of the most entertaining parts of RAW. In return, he has really stepped up his game and is arguably the most talented big man since Taker (he is certainly in Top-3 discussion there). |

I AM THANKFUL FOR: 1.Gedo doing fucking awesome work with NJPW and the wrestlers putting on AMAZING matches each event. 2. Still in NJPW but this should really get his own special thank you: Toru Yano reminding me that wrestling can be fun and comedic while still telling a good story. 3.Braun Strowman for being the best part of RAW while SD kicked ass and being a roadblock to Roman Reigns. 4.NXT, everything about it, especially the newer generation: Dream, returning Drew and Ohno, Black and most importantly the best team currently in wrestling: the Street Profits. 5.Dalton finally being introduced as a credible contender for the world title against Cody. (Will update after Final Battle to either a rant or a complete marking out) |
