Jim Johnston has apparently been let go by WWE after his contract expired. They did not renew it.

Johnston is low-key one of the most important figures in WWE history, especially for the crowd that was watching before '06. For those of you who don't know, he was a driving force (either as the composer or as a collaborator) behind some of the most iconic entrance themes in company history, including those of Stone Cold, HBK, HHH, D-X, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, CM Punk's Killswitch Engage theme, and many more.

The issue for me is this was posted originally by a Twitter user named ThemeTitan. There's been no official statement from Johnston or the big Dub. I'm just kinda letting the water warm a bit before I hop into the big discussion wagon for it.

If it is true, that sucks. CFO$'s been making most of the music lately, but they should so keep Johnston around, heck even have the two groups collab eh? eh? What's sad is, most of his tracks are embedded into our minds as these great, memorable tunes.

I'm curious if this is simply to cut costs if the rumor is in fact true. Man has been around since most of us were born. I know he hasn't been making a whole lot of music lately but I hear lately that CFO$ doesn't want to keep doing it. If it's true, tough loss for a lot of us. Hopefully though it means he can focus on his own content.
