So uh... yeah, I've heard about this war again and again, it still boggles my mind that you guys would be forced into a war. It seems like you guys get unwillingly forced into a lot of things... so what happened? If you'll let me know.

Betrayal within the ranks has the ability to do that. I'm not even sure where to start... I guess I could always start with the Hailman files, but we don't really let those out in public anymore I think. It causes a lot of bad publicity, not that it matters much anymore.

Basically, Hailman betrayed us, took a lot of members, and started UBCS.

The war was one thing, then there was a lot of accusations of zerging, and various other less than morale methods. The final blow to us was when they managed to get on our forum with admin access and then deleted everything. Unfortunately, InvisionFree haven't been running backups for quite a while; so we lost it all for good.

It has been argued quite a bit as to who won the war; statistically, I believe we won. However, the accusations and such had a far worse impact than any number of kills could have had.

So, I sort of say the war was a draw.

There's a lot more details, a lot of spying that went on, it was kinda fun while it lasted. But that, in addition to the game, sent us into a bit of decline.

Heck, there's even a lot of stuff I have never seen (Nor while I ever)... There was also some stuff that was quite surprising to me, things I didn't know until I became a member of the BoD and later President/CEO.

Anyone else can feel free to comment as well; as long as there isn't anything revealing from SS+ or BoD+ specific areas.

I don't remember much about the UBCS beef with Umbrella Corp. Only that Hailman spoke about such things grudgingly and left a lot of things unsaid. It was most of the officers in UBCS that ranted about Umbrella. I never did understand what the struggle was.

Hailman was alright in my book, he used my old group Death's Minions as a spy and counter-intelligence squad to take care of some PKers he had issues with. He wanted me to move up in the group, but I kinda faded into in-activeness. Before I knew it they were suddenly The Drifters.

Yeah, we're on speaking terms with Hailman now. He pops into the forums every once in a while. A lot of the conflict had to do with differences between the leadership of the time and such.

I did my best to remain friendly with UBCS throughout the war, I even joined you guys for a week or two. A while back I sent out a mass email to all registered members on this forum, I pardoned everyone. We had a lot of people lurk around on the forum, not many rejoined though.

I can almost understand accusations of zerging in wars but to intentionally damage software, messages, etc., is a little too much care for something so insignificant... That sucks guy, I'm sorry.

I mostly blame the leadership of both groups at the time. Haliman and Jackson didn't get along, turned into a "He's playing with my favorite toy and not sharing, so we're not friends anymore" type of pettiness, and then the leaders of the groups said let's do battle! Turned into a mess both in the game, on the wiki, and on the forums. The in game war was kind of fun, the rest was just a bit more on the sad side of things. Caused a lot of issues here for people, quite a few quit right after it all too. A lot didn't come back after the business of deleting the forum.

Haliman was online. I don't know for how long but he was signed in. Like, 30 mins to an hour ago.

That's just the beauty of war in Urban Dead it forms bonds and breaks others. Sadly as Dark Blue Helmet already said, it can get pretty sad when it's outside the game.

Hey come one now! Everyone forgets the other big players, Thadeous O., Krauser, Reven (I think that was his name), and Haliman's buddy whose name escapes me... and the rogue Kalimlord (we never did find out his true motives)... I mean Thadeous hated Haliman far more than I did. Then there were the other groups on top of UBCS working against us at the same time (and against me more specifically), Ranahan Free Radio, Wesker/Rated R's group before they formed Neo-Umbrella.

You're all to young to remember the nitty gritty details about how the whole thing went down, having much to do with our origins! Oh but the espionage and the treachery and the violence! It was a good war! UD knew nothing like it and never will. It's all with us now... Those that linger and remain... Waiting to be forever consumed by the virus...

Unfortunately Thadeous had never returned after the war... Thankfully we're all friends now! :drunk:

By far the most fun I've ever had in UD. When you and Thad went inactive, I lost my motivation to keep playing. No offense at all to the other leaders of Umbrella, but the rivalry just wasn't there. This whole story line is just riddled with ironies.

1) The person that turned me in eventually left Umbrella to join me, and became one of my best friends.

2) I would not have played this dead game for as long as I did if we didn't have this war/cold war

3) I turned two of your spies (skouth and krauser) and they joined me. Skouth was cool, Krauser was sadistic :P

Holy shit this was 7 years ago? I was 13 when I made the UBCS hahaha

Oh Haliman, you (to my surprise, as I would have pegged you for being someone who was probably about early 20's when all that happened) young whipper snapper! There was a lot of fun to be had when that all went on, but it did take a lot out as a few people seemed to take it really serious as if the sky was really falling. A few of us, like myself, decided to sit back and just laugh and try to pick up the pieces. Sadly it didn't work too well, and with UD itself taking a big hit in numbers, I think that caused a bigger problem, not only for us, but everyone. I tried making a return with my characters about 6 months ago. Even created a new one (forget his name now), but after about a month, I just lost interest again. It's hard to play when there's no updates, many other games out there to play, and well life in general.

More than anything though, still glad to see the site gets the occasional use. I see a few people's posts on Facebook as well. Would be fun to try to get as many old faces back on here just for one day, like a Umbrella Family Reunion.

And here I was all excited that something crazy had happened again. Oh memories. Think I forgot the password to my account or maybe I've been archived?
