Erlantz Castañaga, the well-mannered, glasses-wearing cousin of the West Alaznyan dictator Frantzisko Castañaga and appointed Alaznyan delegate to the General Assembly, stepped out of the state motorcade onto the grand marble steps of the temporary GA headquarters. His security detail was quick to form a tight-knit circle around the delegate, though Erlantz still towered over the agents at a hefty 6'3". Adjusting his custom-tailored suit, Erlantz proceeded up the steps with his security only to be accosted by a slew of reporters.

Normally, Erlantz would shy away from the media. He was tall, lanky, and had a very soft voice compared to his powerful cousin which made him hesitant to appear on camera and give interviews to foreign media. However, he knew the National Television & Radio (the state media of West Alaznya) questions were pre-screened by the government; he had rehearsed his answers with his personal assistant on the ride over from the capitol building.

He did his best to smile and wave at the cameras while his security detail attempted to keep the various "reporters" at bay. Before long, they began to fire questions at the delegate. Erlantz, of course, had heard them all.

"What do you plan on accomplishing during this meeting?" was one question by a state reporter.

Erlantz turned to the reporter, smiling and adjusting his glasses as he began to speak. "West Alaznya hopes to protect its national sovereignty and power while respecting the boundaries of other nations. We also hope to give our people, the Basques, a voice on the international stage so that they can be heard."

His response was full of "wooden language", a tactic employed by his cousin during his speeches at huge state rallies. Essentially, Erlantz gave a nice sounding response that didn't actually say anything and only used inspiring and strong language to appeal to emotion rather than reason.

"Thank you!" said the reporter, ducking back into the ever-present media pool.

"Mr. Delegate, sir. How do you predict the meeting will go?" inquired another reporter, bearing the state media logo on the microphone that he was now shoving into Erlantz's face.

"I have no doubt in my mind that this meeting will be productive and a huge victory for the Alaznyan people and our nation," Erlantz fired back, almost like clockwork.

"That's enough!" shouted one of the guards in Erlantz's detail, and the group pushed through the crowd of reporters to the front door of the building.

The building, a true testament to the ingenuity of the Alaznyan people, stood tall and proud in the nation's capital of San Sebastián. Square, stone, and with many elaborate designs carved into the pillars and walls was representative of Alaznyan architecture and design. The building, while simple and imposing from a distance, had very beautiful art carved into the stone walls if looked at from a closer angle.

Erlantz did not look at the art as he was ushered inside. He offered one last smile and wave to the eager media outside as the massive doors closed, offering a satisfying clunk and offering Erlantz some respite from the media hailstorm outside.

He looked at his surroundings, a massive marble lobby with intricate artwork and expensive furniture, all put out in recuperation for one of the most important international meetings to occur in modern times. Erlantz noted that his cousin really pulled out all the stops to make sure Alaznya was portrayed in a good way to the various international delegations that would be attending. There was a massive buffet set up in to lobby, with all kinds of Alaznyan delicacies ready to serve by chefs standing by behind the table. A huge, glass chandelier hung from the vaulted ceiling, adding a sense of grandiose and importance to the already important meeting about to take place.

Erlantz began discussing with his personal assistants and minor delegates about what the Alaznyan plan of action would be for this first meeting as they patiently waited for the rest of the delegations to arrive.

The delegation from Storbrittannia arrives. A reporter asks Delegate Oda Johansen, accompanied by an entrouge of foreign service workers, what Storbrittannia hopes to accomplish. Quite used to public appearances, she responds "We hope to foster friendship and cooperation within and outside the region, support Democratic values, and create a strong, safe United Coalition. "
Entering the building, Johansen glances at her watch, partakes in the refreshments provided, and waits for the rest of the delegations while she and Mr. Castañaga make polite conversation.

The leader of West Abyssmia herself arrives. Natasha Adair pulls up in a rather nonchalant sedan, she has a single personal assistant and two guards. She is wearing a business suit with slacks.

The reporters all try to get her attention, and one asks "Miss Adair, what does Abyssmia hope to accomplish with this assembly?"

"We hope to establish a strong government based on the will of the people throughout the region that protects the democratic process and supports progressive social and economic causes."

Another gets her attention and asks "Why didn't Abyssmia send a proxy instead of it's leader?"

She smiles and answers "West Abyssmia isn't the largest nation in the region for one. Secondly, I have been elected to perform the will of the people as best as I can, that is the only difference between me and any other Abyssmian. We have no use to send a proxy to perform my will, that is the people's will."

She makes her way into the meeting place, dismissing her guards and assistant. She smiles cordially and makes conversation with the three nations in attendance so far.

To everyone's surprise, President Anastasia Volkov of the Soviet Kingdom herself arrives.

As the reporters try to get her attention, she continues to make her way into the meeting place while staying quiet.

Some reporters try to get close, but her guards push them away.

I would like to begin this meeting by voting on our chairman. To begin, I would like to nominate the United Kingdom of the Soviets.
