Fished all day Friday 5/4. It was miserably hot. Just a few bites and no catches.

Fished Saturday morning. Weather was beautiful. Very slow until about 10:00 when we moved to a new spot. In the new spot we caught 5 in about an hour. We called it a day and headed on home.

All fishing was between mid-lake and dam.

Anybody ever have any luck with deep diving crankbaits? I rigged some up with a 3-way swivel. Crank bait on bottom and flutter spoon on top. In the heat of the day we fast trolled those from Christmas tree all the way to the dam.

If you are catching bait in the day time you are wasting your time (IMO). Although catching bait is usually half the fun. Night is key right now for shad and ales.

Majority of bites we had were on the alewives. Biggest fish was on a 10" gizzard though - and it got slammed.

Seems to be as many small fish around as I have seen in a while.

We are done with the stripes till fall!
