These flies can be purchased at Orvis Birchell's Hatching MidgeThis midge fly pattern can be used as a dry fly or emerger. A beautiful little emerging midge with a parachute, so you can see it amid the others. Often a midge hatch can be a prolific to the point when it's difficult to determine your fly from the rest on the water. This midge fly pattern can solve the problem. Also, in size 18, it can work for a small mayfly emerger as well. Fly in sizes: Black in (18, 20, 22, 24), Olive in (20, 22), Grey in (20, 22, 23) Spotlight Caddis EmergerTrout can't ignore this Caddis emerger fly because it behaves exactly like the naturals. One of the great things about fishing caddis emerger flies is their remarkable effectiveness due to the vulnerable stage they're imitating; trout key in on this. One of the hard things about fishing Caddis emergers is they are down in the film and often very difficult to see. This caddis fly pattern offers the best of both worlds, a very realistic pattern that will draw strikes with a parachute post that makes it much easier to see. Sizes: Tan (14, 16, 18), Black (18, 20), Olive (14, 16, 18) Sparkle DunA must-have in every box of trout flies. A perfect trout dry fly to imitate many different natural mayflies, including Pale Morning Duns, Sulphur, and Baetis mayflies. The dry fly is sparse, yet gives a great drift. The deer hair lets you track the dry fly. Trout can't resist a sparkle dun. Indicator Spinner - TricoCatching fish at dusk will be easier with a Trico spinner fly. Tricos are tough enough to see in the first place. During the spinner fall in the evening it can be very frustrating. This indicator fly pattern gives you a bright orange parachute to help you pick out your fly on the water. This spinner fall can be one of the best opportunities to catch trout and it's tough if you can't see your fly. Make sure if you fish Tricos, you have some of these spinner flies on hand during the evening. Color, Natural. Size: 20, 22, 24. Muddler MinnowThis fly pattern is a classic for fishing a Sculpin. Perhaps one of the best minnow/streamer fly fishing patterns ever tied. The Muddler Minnow was spawned, so to speak, by Don Gapen of Anoka, Minnesota in 1936, to imitate the sculpin. Gapen developed this fly to catch Nipigon strain brook trout in Ontario, Canada. It is now a popular pattern world-wide and is likely found in nearly every angler's fly box, in one form or another. Unweighted; sizes 4, 6, 8, 10, 12. Weighted; sizes 6, 8, 10. Vernille San Juan WormFish a worm fly dead drifted tight to the bottom and it can be deadly. While most people think the San Juan worm fly is specific to the San Juan River, the truth is there are aquatic worms in many rivers and fish are not shy about eating them. There are purists who say this is worm fishing. Fact is the San Juan Worm fly imitates a worm just like Muddler imitates a sculpin. This fly also won the prestigious One Fly Tournament in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Keep a few worm flies in the box and you won't be sorry. Sizes: 8, 10, 12, 14. Near Nuff Sculpin......Size: 4,6,8,10 Trow Minnow......Color: Black......Size:2,4,6 PMX......Color: Rust......Size: 10, 8 Kreelex......Color: Gold/Copper......Size: 8,6,4 |
