In a small room on the far side of Parliament House, the parliamentary caucus of the Wallis Bay Party meets. Here, with thick curls of tobacco smoke stirred by the ceilings fans, they discuss the party's policies, leadership and direction.

WBP MPs only!

We need a party whip: someone who will ensure party discipline in Parliament. Whilst I'm sure we'll all support the issue of the day, it might be good to formally appoint someone to rally the troops when certain votes are about to go down.

To the Executive Committee of the Wallis Bay Party,

Our party has a rich and proud history. We fought for the independence of our nation within the Commonwealth and have long championed the silent majority of Wallis Bay.

However, the people of Wallis Bay have chosen a different path with the recent general election. Our vision, whilst positive and dignified, was outclassed by one of radical reformism and populism. Our party failed to strike the right chord with the Wallis Bay electorate and, as leader of the party, I bear full responsibility for such.

Therefore, I am hereby giving notice of my intention to resign as leader once the party has elected my successor. As I have previously stated, I shall play no part in that election nor back any candidate.

I have every confidence that this party can rebuild and rebound, and come back stronger and better with a vision and platform to match.

I thank you one and all for your service and help during my time in office. Without you, it would have been impossible. With you, it was my utmost pleasure and privilege.

Yours faithfully,
Edward Hale MP

To the Executive Committee of the Wallis Bay Party,

For four years we led Wallis Bay with the best interests of our people at heart, however, it appears that the people of Wallis Bay have chosen a different path. In Africa at this time, not many countries allow their people to participate in free and fair elections such as this one. For this we should be immensely proud, we are a democracy that trusts the people with decisions such as these and I sincerely hope that we remain that way. I have the highest hopes for the future of our great country. Unlike countries that surround us, we have achieved a governmental change without having to fight, without having to fire any bullets, and without having to spill any blood. That, my friends, is what is great about our country.

I am also saddened to hear of Edward Hale's departure as leader of our party. He shall be missed, he led the Wallis Bay party to a victory in the first election of an independent Wallis Bay, and his legacy will be remembered fondly by many members of our party and by thousands of people throughout all of Wallis Bay. He led us with diligence and patriotism, with the genuine interest of the people at heart, and I wish him well for the future. He has done his country a great service by leading it and I am very proud to have had the privilege to serve in his cabinet.

In light of Hale's resignation, I would like to announce my candidacy for the leadership of the Wallis Bay Party. I believe that our party needs to rebuild from this, and come back stronger, with a better vision for the future of Wallis Bay, a vision of a strong, independent and free Wallis Bay, where everyone, no matter where they come from, or what upbringing they receive, should have the same opportunities to succeed, with nobody left behind, so in short what I want the Wallis Bay Party to be is a party that represents everyone in Wallis Bay, a party that puts its own people first, as every government should. We need decisive leadership now more than ever, and we need to act as the opposition for the new government, holding them to account, and lead the party to victory at the next election.

Yours faithfully,
Pieter van Zyl MP

Great to have you on board Charles, I personally would be more than happy to welcome you and your supporters should my bid for the leadership succeed. I agree- for conservatives, we need cohesion more now than ever to preserve the traditional values that our forefathers built, to fight the evils of communism, and make Wallis Bay safe, prosperous, united, strong and free. That, my friends, is what we must never give up on. That is why I would be delighted to welcome Charles Mackay and any others who share our values to the Wallis Bay Party should I become leader, because for us to preserve our cause we must be strong and united.

Yours faithfully,
Pieter van Zyl MP.
