It was finally time. The chicken-headed man raised the pink underwear flag to signal his comrade the engineer. The H. H. McMortensen was ready for its maiden voyage.
A great crowd of watermelon trees, at least a calendar in number, waved to the train as it started chugging and rolling down the mountainside. The ramp at the waterfall was in place. All that was needed now was for gravity to work correctly.

"T minus zero seconds!" the announcer counted. "1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 18, 50! We have mansion!"

A great BOING was heard as the train hit the ramp and shot upward into the sky, ripping a hole in a cloud that was in the way. Project Otter was a success and the H. H. McMortenson was ready to pick up its two passengers on the moon.

Quinn paced anxiously. Where was it? It should have been here by now. They'd done everything as they were supposed to. The bomb had been properly set, and the remote detonator was safely in his position. Now they just needed their getaway vehicle, but the scheduled time had arrived and there was no sign of it.
Just calm down, he told himself, no need to panic. Surely, any minute now, they'd- the sound of a train whistle cut him off. It was time. Time to leave the moon and depart for the heavens. He turned to his partner, who had been randomly assigned to him by the clerk back home. "I can hear it coming, get ready to jump."

She wasn't exactly sure why the plan was to blow up a cheese factory, nor why they needed to in the first place; they were standing on cheese, for crying out loud! Not that it mattered, they had done it and they had to get out of here. Maybe take some cheese with them; she'd sampled it earlier, but couldn't place what kind it was. Wensleydale? Camembert?
Didn't matter, time was out anyway and their escape train was here. She watched, waited for the right moment, then made the jump to freedom.

As they leaped, Quinn pressed down on the button in his hand. There was a blinding flash as the facility they had been in moments ago went up in flames, the shockwave giving them just the extra jump they needed. The train was speeding by, and reaching out, he grabbed hold of it, swinging inside the open window. They'd done it, mission accomplished.
"Wha-hoo!" he exclaimed, not caring if he was disturbing any of the train's passengers. Against all odds, they'd pulled it off. With a huge grin, he turned to his companion, hoping she was just as happy as he was. Aubrey's expression was- wait, Aubrey? Aubrey?
He hadn't just met her. No, that was nonsense. He'd met her before, after the baseball game. Baseball game... dream. He was dreaming. Of course. This was all nonsensical. Blowing up a base on the moon and leaping to a train? It had to be a dream.
And yet... Aubrey looked real. Very real. And furthermore, Quinn had given it some thought. He couldn't remember ever seeing her before his dream yesterday. It was almost as if he'd met her in a dream before the real world. But that was impossible... unless it wasn't. Here she was, standing right in front of him. Looking so very real.
"Aubrey," he began nervously, telling himself he had nothing to lose by asking a stupid question inside his own dream, "are you... dreaming?"

And they'd made it, accomplished this strange goal of theirs, heralded by a large boom and an appetizing smell. But they were too far away to go back for samples, seeing as they were now on board the escape train.
But she really wanted cheese now...
Suddenly she was being spoken to by Quinn. Wait, that boy from the baseball field? Why didn't she realize this sooner? Wait... was she dreaming? Well of course n— ... she was in a flying train after blowing up a cheese factory on the moon. Of course she was. But Quinn...
Wait. An odd porcine creature and a near-disaster with a sweet roll wardrobe malfunction came back to mind suddenly. And Quinn had been there... she hadn't exactly had a clear look at him then but it had definitely been him. What in the world was going on?
"We just blew up a cheese factory, what do you think?" she deadpanned, before standing up and peering out the window. After a pause, she asked without looking at him, "Are you really here, or part of my imagination?"

Their minds had drifted to their real-world memories of meeting, and as they came to the realization, the scenery around them changed. The train, the moon, and the star field around them faded into a clear summer's day, partly cloudy, warm 80 degrees. The ground below them had shifted from a mechanized transportation devise on a crash course with Kanthesus to turf and dirt. They were on the baseball field where they met before.

And yet... The scent of lemon and peppermint filled the air.

The sarcastic reply from Aubrey wasn't what Quinn had been expecting, but was honestly probably the reply he deserved. He'd meant to ask if she was there, for real, and not just in his head, but he could certainly see where the misinterpretation had happened.
And then suddenly, the train was gone. No more moon, stars, or chunks of cheese hurtling through space. They were back on the baseball field. The bleachers and dugouts were empty, and not a person walked down the road beside them, yet this was clearly the place were they had met.
"I think I'm really here," he responded. Turning slightly to the side, staring at the scenery behind her, he continued, "But I don't get it. If this is my dream, then how're you here? You could be part of my imagination, but..." he turned back to look at her face. So many perfect little details. The shape of her nose, the arches of her eyes, the slope of her forehead. "You look way too real." The faces of his parents seldom had a considerable level of detail in his dreams. How could he expect somebody he just met to be shown to him in photo-realistic detail like this?
And there was the matter of the last dream. They'd been riding Farifon together, and she'd nearly fallen off. He was certain it was her. "But last night, you were in my dream too. An' I'm almost sure I've never seen you before." This couldn't really be happening though. His brain was playing tricks on him. It had to be.

Not too far away, the fox girl engineering this flight of fancy suddenly had her entire train of thought pulled out from under her, and with a scream, fell into the bleachers with a loud THUNK. What the heck? she thought to herself as she stood up. Why do people always have to go lucid during my shenanigans? She sighed, hopping down the cascade of benches and walking away from the two humans. Mato's gonna looove to hear this one...

Woah, the baseball field was outside the window. Wait, no, the train had vanished suddenly, leaving them there in the familiar field. Only... empty. Yet it wasn't nighttime, it was clearly the middle of the day. No one playing in the field, no one in the bleachers, no one traveling the road... just... empty. It was eerie— Wait, no, there was something there... but it was leaving. Otherwise, they were alone.
Peppermint. Yes, that was also present in that last dream. Why was she smelling it now, though? Was something else about to happen? Was that creature involved?
Quinn answered her question, answering that he was really here, but was confused how she could be here if it was his dream. Only... it was her dream. Wasn't it? When his reasoning for her not being part of his imagination was that she looked "way too real," she frowned for a moment, before replying, "Thanks I reckon..."
Then he brought up the previous dream, last night's for that matter, and how they'd never seen each other before, and yet there they had been, in the same dream. Aubrey pondered it briefly, then, in attempts to make sense of it all, responded, "Well, how do we know we haven't seen each other before?"
She wanted to be skeptical that this was the real Quinn, but there was no way it wasn't. Was there?

Quinn was only now realizing the comment about her looking too real probably sounded like a strange compliment. That certainly hadn't been his intent. Ack, hopefully she didn't think he was weird for that. Assuming this was the real Aubrey. Either way, she raised a good point. How would they know for sure they hadn't met before? Thinking about it, Quinn realized there really wasn't a way to be sure. "Well, neither of us remembers seeing each other before. I reckon we could've, but wouldn't we of remembered it."
Suddenly, it occurred to him. It didn't matter if they'd seen each other before. The important thing was proving whether or not the real Aubrey actually was in his dream. If they could establish that, they'd know for sure. "Hold up, I have an idea, to prove if we are both dreaming and I'm not just making you up. Or the other way around. Tomorrow, once we wake up, at noon, meet me at the road by the baseball diamond. If you're there... then I guess it really is you here." This was stupid. It couldn't actually be her here, in his dream. And yet, he couldn't shake the feeling that it was.

Well, if they had seen each other before and didn't remember, it could have simply been due to not being fully acquainted with each other and it had simply been a very long since they'd seen each other before. It made about as much sense as any other potential explanation.
But then Quinn had a suggestion to prove whether or not this was all a dream: Meet up the next day, at noon, at the road by the field. Now that was a suggestion that would... not really answer any questions, but at least the basic one.
"Agreed," she nodded. "... now how do we get outta here?"

What was that sound? It sounded like... Almost like a train, but not quite. Above them, a... machine of some sort, black as night, and an almost impossibly large rotor on it's topside was hovering, slowly lowering itself toward Quinn and Aubrey, and it was loud.

A rope ladder was dropped out the one side of the machine, and... something comes sliding out. The figure was skewed, blurry, shifting randomly between unknowable and unimaginable forms. Then when it reached the ground, it seemed to take a more human-like appearance. Except with purple skin. He was buff, easily a body-builder in this present form, and then it yelled in a thick accent, one that neither children have heard before. "ONE LUMP OR TWO!?" it shouted, "QUICKLY!" It's shout seemed to mute the sound of the machine just overhead, but only while it spoke. It never was louder than the flying device.

How did they get out of here? Quinn assumed they'd wake up eventually, but he wasn't quite sure. This was unlike any dream he'd ever had before. Should they wait so they wouldn't wake up in the middle of the night? Did time flow the same inside a dream? Could they even wake themselves up? If they knew they were dreaming, did this mean-
His thoughts were suddenly cut off by the sound of something above them. A black machine, levitating in the air, lowering towards them slowly. It was louder than any sort of machine Quinn had ever heard, even a train whistle. There was something climbing out, something that seemed to defy logic. While he couldn't exactly see it - it was rather blurry - he knew instinctively that it was there in the way that one does during a dream.
Suddenly, it was human. And yelling at them, in a voice that seemed to cancel out the sound of the machine. It asked a question, a question that made little sense but that conveyed a tone of intense urgency. Utterly confused, Quinn's gaze wandered first to Aubrey, then back at the person... thing. Dream or not, no use in keeping it waiting, he reasoned. "One?" he answered, his tone unsure. He had no idea what he was answering, but knew he had to answer one way or the other.

She wasn't entirely sure what she was hearing or seeing, and she wasn't entirely sure she cared. Weird things happened all the time in dreams, like last night's, or that one other time when— never mind.
Still, it was strange, and she wasn't entirely sure what to say, so, contrary to Quinn's answer, she shrugged and replied, "Two I reckon."

The being grabbed onto it's wife beater(Was it always wearing that?) and threw his head back, looking up to the sky. It screamed in what seemed like primal rage as it pulled it's shirt apart. Sparks and rockets erupted from nowhere, and Music seemed to play around them.. The flying machine above them blew to pieces in a glorious destruction.

Then once the being tore his shirt to shreds, the music and fireworks stopped, and so did his screaming, face now seeming emotionless. Beneath his now nonexistant shirt was... yet another strange device.

From nowhere, he retrieved two glasses, loading them into the machine occupying his abdomen, and... is that tea? One lump of sugar into the cup, just like Quinn asked, and then two for Aubrey. It's a beautiful day.

Coffee? Quinn looked at the cup strangely, taking it from the person. He was pretty sure it was coffee at least; his dad had brought coffee beans back home once from a business trip. Supposedly it was really popular in some parts of the world. But... that explained nothing. Who was this person, why did he have a machine that dispensed coffee under his shirt, why had the flying machine exploded, why was there weird repetitive music playing... why was any of this happening? Dreams were weird, yes. But this was a new level of weird. Add to it that a girl he'd just met was potentially inside his dream with him right now and it just got even weirder still.
"Um... thank you?" He took a sip of the coffee, forcing himself to smile. He couldn't say he cared for the drink at all, but it would probably be rude to show that. Right? Quinn hardly knew how to approach this situation anymore; things were just too far out of hand.

Screams. Explosions. Music that somehow gave her the impression people tried to make jokes about that weren't funny in the slightest. When she couldn't comprehend, she tried to remind herself this was a dream... but that didn't help one bit.
And... a drink. This beast had just appeared from nowhere to quite spectacularly and boisterously offer them a drink. She couldn't lie, that was kind of excellent service. But the drink itself... didn't grown-ups drink this stuff? She thought maybe it was some kind of tea at first, she liked that stuff, but this... Well it was worth a sip anyway, one she tried not to cringe at...

And as they sipped the coffee, the world around them blurred away into nothing. Just as real-world coffee would keep them awake, dream coffee seems to wake them up.

As the world faded away, the figure's booming voice echoed around them. "YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE, THEY'RE TRYING TO TAKE MY TORTILLAS!"

DREAM OVER. RETRY? Y/N ___
