(( the back story ))

~ The Chained Alchemy Moon Wolf Pack ~

To the land of the high mountains a secret and safe guarded race occupies vast land space reaching throughout the wild forests. Numerous family units come to unite for the safety of their own breed. A heritage that is passed down through the ages of time. With the exception of simple mingling for survival purposes the families kept to their own. Not wanting any mishaps of revealing what they truely were to the humans in the near by villages. Humans were dangerous when it came to finding out about things they didn't fully comprehend. For protection of the race it was not spoken of and functions of the race were kept hidden away from the prying curiousities of humans. The rules had been set down from the elders of old and always upheld by the Alpha's who would come into ruling over the united families. Something which they referred to as a pack.

For generations the families had settled in the same area after they had been moving from place to place. Those mountains were their homes that was until one day where everything was shattered. Deep in the forest where barely any man really travelled. A group of young teens had been playing. Running wild in a fit of games. Emerged into nature as they could be in their wolf form unknowing to that human hunters had stumbled upon them. A loud dying howl echoed through the trees. Making birds scatter every where and haulting the young wolves in their tracks to see what had just happened. That was when they saw one of their young companions shot with an arrow to the head and bleeding to the ground. The hunters had snuck up on the children by being against the wind rather then allowing the wind to carry their scent. Skilled in old traditions of game and by sheer luck they had found the playing wolves.

Yet all that had not matter to the young inexperienced ones. Enraged the naturally secretive bunch who had been kind to humans turned on them. Charging to slaughter where they stood. At least all the ones they had seen. Tearing them to shreads. Wolves covered in blood as they howled over the dead bodies that looked mawled. When they had thought it was safe they transformed at will back into the image of humans. Wanting to take back their now dying friend. Little did they know. Hidden back behind some brush was a human hunter who had witnessed it all. Panicking he dropped his bow and arrow heading back to the village to tell what he had just seen.

Unlike most legends this race of what might be considered werewolves could transform at will at any given time desired. True the night time was more of a favored time especially that underneath the raw need of the full moon where it felt they had to. To be free and be wild within nature. Their forms though simular to that of wolves were in a slight larger form. To anyone who saw a wolf of this particular pack would indeed think of it as just regular wolves espeically the younger ones. The differences could only really be told if a normal wolf would come to stand by them. The height even on all fours would be significant enough to notice the difference. Yet to the humans that were out on that hunting trip had no other wolves to compare them to. Though being teens they were young and in being younger they would have been still slightly smaller against the rest of their pack but, even so it would have made no change. Humans didn't know the difference, that was until that faithful night.

Back at the leader's house. The families prepared for the funeral of the young teen who had been unfortunately fatally wounded and had passed. Weeping cries reverberated throughout in the wild and in the village below. Death claimed both sides on that so called hunting trip. While in mourning thats when the villagers had rallied. Believing in old wives tales of folklore they could not take any chances in what the one hunter had told them. As most of the women stayed behind helping out the mothers and widows of the men who had been slained. The men of the village prepared themselves with whatever they could grab to be used as a weapons. Swords, pitchforks, hammers, bows and arrows. Bidding everyone good bye and vowing to return the dead to be given their last rites they ventured off. The armed villagers returned to that very site where the slaughter had gone down. Finding the mangled bodies the findings of wolf tracks mixed with barefooted humans. Appointing a few men to take back the bodies. The rest of the hunters decided to search the rest of the forest by following the tracks. The tracks that lead in the direction of the pack family homes.

Back at the gathering of the wolf families. The leaders lectured the children on attacking the humans on the dangers of what could come from it and what punishments were to be handed out but, it had been short lived since the hunters abruptly interrupted. Shouting and screaming to give the signals to the other hunters to charge. A scout had found the tracks leading up to the one home. Blood to the ground. To the ignorant and fearful humans that was all they needed. The soon to be heard mourning of the families was just more confirmation to them. Not wanting to give up their advantage and with no kindness in their hearts.

Archers lit arrows and shot them off in all directions of the homes while sword weilders and others with hand weapons charged at the families. Not mattering if they were women or children. As much as they had not wanted to give up their secret lives it was no time to hide as they needed to defend themselves when the villagers declared war. Many women shifted in wolf form battling on all fours as the men fought back with weapons and the children fend the best they could with guardians looking after them. Wolfs were sliced into men and female alike. Just as the humans were wounded by either great maws or metal. Even if the wolfs did have a battling advantage over the humans they also had a fault which was their children. Protecting their way of life and merely their race. If all the humans were slaughtered only more in greater numbers would come. That was something the Alpha could not risk. The secret was far too open for them to survive here now even if the precious land had been home to them through so many generations. Homes burning to the ground in a midst the battle the call was given to retreat. Taking up the wounded they returned to the harsh terrain of the mountains to get away.

The time of the battle could not have been measured in the minds of the humans or wolf families. It had all at times seemed to be a blur and in slow motion at times. Perhaps it was their own fault for losing as many as they had, so many of them holding back their other talents but, the motto was the less they know the better. After enough had been revealed it would have been worse if the sacred practices of the families were let out into the open. It was bad enough they were hunted for what they were but, to unleash such mystical gifts upon mere humans? Mere humans that could run and tell more which turns into even more? No, as much damage had been done it was too risky and what was done was done.

Such a blow had been given to the bloodlines. Many families had lost beloved family members. Even the Alpha male lost his mate along with his children in that useless battle of ignorant humans. Some wandered to seperate from the pack to make packs of their own, saying their good byes hoping to have better odds at rebuilding their race and practices to spread out for a higher success rate. As time had come and went the main pack we follow has taken in other families to ensure the species, after all they were not the only pack who has had to edure suffering of some of the same fates. In time they learned to adapt in the practices. All in all, what had happened to the bloodlines was something which fueled the fire to be all the more protective over their race, their bloodlines and their rules. Under the guidance of the Alpha we follow, the families who stayed stuck even more closer together then before. Finding themselves a new location for a home, a fresh start to hopefully thrive and allow their families to become large and strong once more.

(( Some of the details ))

- To clarify what types of breed these werewolves are is as followed : -

Appearance: This species has gained the power to transform into a wolf-like creature at will. The nearer to the day of the full moon, the harder it is to resist transforming, though it can be done at will. On the night of the full moon, however, they must transform.

Their appearance is that of a normal looking wolf form with the exception is a bit bigger then a gray wolf. Usually the legs are a bit longer as well as the ears and just the sheer body mass depending on the person as it would just a regular wolf.

(( For those who do not know The gray wolf (Canis lupus), also known as the timber wolf or wolf, is a mammal of the order Carnivora. The gray wolf is the largest member of the Canidae family, with its shoulder height ranging from 0.6 to 0.9 meters (26–36 inches) and its weight varying between 32 and 62 kilograms (70–135 pounds.

Wolf weight and size can vary greatly worldwide, tending to increase proportionally with latitude as predicted by Bergmann's Rule. In general, height varies from 0.6 to 0.95 meters (26–38 inches) at the shoulder and weight ranges from 32 to 62 kilograms (70–135 pounds), which together make the gray wolf the largest of all wild canids. Although rarely encountered, extreme specimens of more than 77 kg (170 lb) have been recorded in Alaska and Canada. The heaviest wild wolf on record, killed in Alaska in 1939, was 80 kg (175 lb). The smallest wolves come from the Arabian Wolf subspecies, the females of which may weigh as little as 10 kg (22 lb) at maturity.

Females in any given wolf population typically weigh about 20% less than their male counterparts. Wolves can measure anywhere from 1.3 to 2 meters (4.5–6.5 feet) from nose to the tip of the tail, which itself accounts for approximately one quarter of overall body length ))

Wolf Body language :
Dominance – A dominant wolf stands stiff legged and tall. The ears are erect and forward, and the hackles bristle slightly. Often the tail is held vertically and curled toward the back. This display asserts the wolf's rank to others in the pack. A dominant wolf may stare at a submissive one, pin it to the ground, "ride up" on its shoulders, or even stand on its hind legs.

Submission (active) – During active submission, the entire body is lowered, and the lips and ears are drawn back. Sometimes active submission is accompanied by muzzle licking, or the rapid thrusting out of the tongue and lowering of the hindquarters. The tail is placed down, or halfway or fully between the legs, and the muzzle often points up to the more dominant animal. The back may be partly arched as the submissive wolf humbles itself to its superior; a more arched back and more tucked tail indicate a greater level of submission.

Submission (passive) – Passive submission is more intense than active submission. The wolf rolls on its back and exposes its vulnerable throat and underside. The paws are drawn into the body. This posture is often accompanied by whimpering

Anger – An angry wolf's ears are erect, and its fur bristles. The lips may curl up or pull back, and the incisors are displayed. The wolf may also arch its back, lash out, or snarl.

Fear - A frightened wolf attempts to make itself look small and less conspicuous; the ears flatten against the head, and the tail may be tucked between the legs, as with a submissive wolf. There may also be whimpering or barks of fear, and the wolf may arch its back.

Defensive – A defensive wolf flattens its ears against its head.

Aggression – An aggressive wolf snarls and its fur bristles. The wolf may crouch, ready to attack if necessary.

Suspicion
– Pulling back of the ears shows a wolf is suspicious. The wolf also narrows its eyes. The tail of a wolf that senses danger points straight out, parallel to the ground.

Relaxation – A relaxed wolf's tail points straight down, and the wolf may rest sphinx-like or on its side. The wolf may also wag its tail. The further down the tail droops, the more relaxed the wolf is.

Tension – An aroused wolf's tail points straight out, and the wolf may crouch as if ready to spring.

Happiness – As dogs do, a wolf may wag its tail if in a joyful mood. The tongue may loll out of the mouth.

Hunting - A wolf that is hunting is tensed, and therefore the tail is horizontal and straight.

Playfulness
– A playful wolf holds its tail high and wags it. The wolf may frolic and dance around, or bow by placing the front of its body down to the ground, while holding the rear high, sometimes wagged. This resembles the playful behavior of domestic dogs.

(( Gifts, Abilties and the like will be posted with the bios if they choose to do so, because of the variety of the characters. The BASIC gifts are as followed, though keep in mind all are different to each individual where some might be stronger then others. ))

Empathy & Telepathy
to humans, werewolves and other wolves.

Regeneration. If hit with something silver it must be removed before regeneration is able to occur.

Scent Sight - Only in wolf form. From the smells a certain faint trail can be seen exuded from its source.

Low-Light Vision - In both forms.

Strength, speed and the five senses are increased within both forms

Practices of the pack:
Alchemy, that is loosely based on real world science with a magickal twist as it was in the Fullmetal Alchemist anime , put simply, refers to a three-step process. The steps are analysis (to understand the structure and properties of the substance that is about to be transmuted), destruction/decomposition (to break the substance down to its rudimentary properties), and reconstruction/recomposition (to rebuild the substance into another form or with different properties). All studies to each indiviual varies, some things in certain areas will come naturally then what they would to others. Usually each person has there own particular field of expertise they use.

For example. Lets say one is more towards the path of healing, they would excell more in the ways of potions or transmuting things to help purify the body of toxins while another who can perhaps manipulate metal would mostly likely not be able to as successfully as the other and vise versa.

((In case you are not familiar)) - Fullmetal Alchemist is a science fantasy manga set in the early 20th century in a country called Amestris in an alternate-historical Earth with technology dating from early 20th century Europe. In this alternate world, the exaggerated science of alchemy is heavily used in conjunction with acretian soul wanderers, but takes on a further fantastic element not seen in real-life alchemy. Real-world alchemists attempted to transmute gold and diamonds from lesser metals. In the fictional world of the series, alchemy becomes the science of transmuting matter into a different form of that same matter (following the law of equivalent exchange) through the use of transmutation circles—based on real-world science, yet also magical, with seemingly infinite uses.

Transmutation circles: Act as catalysts in alchemic reactions, and are needed for any transmutation.

The circle represents the constant flow of energy, and the patterns determine what effects the transmutation has. Transmutation circles can be drawn with any substance that leaves behind a trail, ranging from chalk to blood. Alchemists often draw circles on the spot for the transmutation they need, but some keep prepared circles embroidered on clothing or tattooed onto their own flesh ; a few alchemists can transmute simply by clapping their hands. Throughout the years a chosen one is born them being the select ones who have the capabilities to use alchemy without transmutation circles and those are who have been chosen to lead the pack. If more then one have been born within the same lifetime of the same sex with the gift of being able to use such a capability, although ; being very RARE since typically only one is born to succeed another when the time has come. Yet if there is a case were two have been birthed who are capable of such a feat a competition is held to see who will be the Alpha. Now if one is born while a current Alphas lead the pack he/she shall be the one to take over when his/hers time is right to lead. Of course there is also the facts that where even those without the capability to use such a ability do try to over throw to become Alpha or try to take leadership and also not all who have had been born with the gift have assumed the Alpha role. If another is better suited for the position then it is rightfully taken by said person.

Blood seal : A special type of transmutation circle that acts as a seal to bind a person's soul to an object, such as a suit of armor. It must, as the name suggests, be written in blood; the soul is tied to the blood and an element in the blood must be bound with the object itself. This typically only works on armor as the iron in the blood binds with the armor. Thus the blood acts as an intermediary between the soul and the object. If a blood seal is destroyed, the soul will no longer be tied to the object.

Human sacrifice, Human transmutation, and Chimeras: Are practices which are strictly FORBIDDEN and which will result in harsh punishment.

((In case you may not know - Alchemy from history : Alchemy was known as the spagyric art after Greek words meaning to separate and to join together. Compare this with the primary dictum of Alchemy in Latin: SOLVE ET COAGULA — Separate, and Join Together. The best known goals of the alchemists were the transmutation of common metals into gold (called chyrsopeia) or silver (less well known is plant alchemy, or "spagyric"); the creation of a "panacea or the elixir of life," a remedy that supposedly would cure all diseases and prolong life indefinitely; and the discovery of a universal solvent. Although these were not the only uses for the science, they were the ones most documented and well known. Starting with the Middle Ages, European alchemists invested much effort on the search for the "philosopher's stone", a legendary substance that was believed to be an essential ingredient for either or both of those goals. The Philosophers Stone was believed to mystically amplify the user's knowledge of alchemy so much that anything was attainable. Alchemists enjoyed prestige and support through the centuries, though not for their pursuit of those goals, nor the mystic and philosophical speculation that dominates their literature. Rather it was for their mundane contributions to the "chemical" industries of the day—the invention of gunpowder, ore testing and refining, metalworking, production of ink, dyes, paints, and cosmetics, leather tanning, ceramics and glass manufacture, preparation of extracts and liquors, and so on (it seems that the preparation of aqua vitae, the "water of life", was a fairly popular "experiment" among European alchemists).

Starting with the Middle Ages, some alchemists increasingly came to view these metaphysical aspects as the true foundation of alchemy; and organic and inorganic chemical substances, physical states, and molecular material processes as mere metaphors for spiritual entities, spiritual states and ultimately, spiritual transformations. In this sense, the literal meanings of 'Alchemical Formulas' were a blind, hiding their true spiritual philosophy, which being at odds with the Medieval Christian Church was a necessity that could have otherwise lead them to the "stake and rack" of the Inquisition under charges of heresy. Thus, both the transmutation of common metals into gold and the universal panacea symbolized evolution from an imperfect, diseased, corruptible and ephemeral state towards a perfect, healthy, incorruptible and everlasting state; and the philosopher's stone then represented some mystic key that would make this evolution possible. Applied to the alchemist himself, the twin goal symbolized his evolution from ignorance to enlightenment, and the stone represented some hidden spiritual truth or power that would lead to that goal. In texts that are written according to this view, the cryptic alchemical symbols, diagrams, and textual imagery of late alchemical works typically contain multiple layers of meanings, allegories, and references to other equally cryptic works; and must be laboriously "decoded" in order to discover their true meaning.

Up to the 16th Century, alchemy was considered serious science in Europe; for instance, Isaac Newton devoted considerably more of his time and writing to the study of alchemy (see Isaac Newton's occult studies) than he did to either optics or physics, for which he is famous. Other eminent alchemists of the Western world are Roger Bacon, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Tycho Brahe, Thomas Browne, and Parmigianino. The decline of alchemy began in the 18th century with the birth of modern chemistry, which provided a more precise and reliable framework for matter transmutations and medicine, within a new grand design of the universe based on rational materialism.

In the first half of the nineteenth century, one established chemist, Baron Carl Reichenbach, worked on concepts similar to the old alchemy, such as the Odic force, but his research did not enter the mainstream of scientific discussion.
Matter transmutation, the old goal of alchemy, enjoyed a moment in the sun in the 20th century when physicists were able to convert platinum atoms into gold atoms via a nuclear reaction. However, the new gold atoms, being unstable isotopes, lasted for under five seconds before they broke apart. More recently, reports of table-top element transmutation—by means of electrolysis or sonic cavitation—were the pivot of the cold fusion controversy of 1989. None of those claims have yet been reliably duplicated.

Alchemical symbolism has been occasionally used in the 20th century by psychologists and philosophers. Carl Jung reexamined alchemical symbolism and theory and began to show the inner meaning of alchemical work as a spiritual path. Alchemical philosophy, symbols and methods have enjoyed something of a renaissance in post-modern contexts, such as the New Age movement.

Alchemy in traditional medicine: Traditional medicines involve transmutation by alchemy, using pharmacological or combination pharmacological and spiritual techniques. In Chinese medicine the alchemical traditions of pao zhi will transform the nature of the temperature, taste, body part accessed or toxicity. In Ayurveda the samskaras are used to transform heavy metals and toxic herbs in a way that removes their toxicity. In the spagyric processing of herbal medicine similar effects are found. These processes are actively used to the present day.))

Ranks :
Alphas - The Alphas are the most dominate, strongest and respected wolves of the pack consisting of only two wolves, one male and one female. They are the ones that ensures the pack is safe at all times and upholds the law and order. Typically the Alphas are given respect at every turn but, if disrespect is shown they will demand it even if it comes down to fighting. Disrespect of either Alpha will not be tolerated. Alphas have the final say in all descisions, and it is their duty to do what is for the best of the pack over all. Even in personal decisions they must do what is best for the pack. This includes hearing the opinions of all the others and making a decision based on all circumstances. These two are the most responsible and reliable wolves of the pack. The female is in charge of the older females, and the male is in charge of males; however, both Alphas will be equally respected by all wolves, regardless of geners, age, pack, ect.

Betas - Are the like the alphas to where there is only two in the ranking who are usually looked upon as the second in command. They take up the duties while the Alphas are not present. They are able to make the same decisions and have the same amount of respect as the Alphas. Though the final decisions will be made by the Alphas. The Betas answer to no one but, their Alphas. While the Alphas are present, they typically deal in settling minor jobs or disputes.

Elders - The Elders of the pack are usually the oldest, wisest, and most experienced wolves in the pack. They are usually wolves that have the ability to be high ranking. Elders are constantly looked to for advice, even by the Alphas and Betas. They are highly respected wolves. Most elders know the packs history and are often the storytellers of the group. Their job if to keep records of all the recent events going on in the pack along with getting their hands on any significance to the houses of the pack. Also they tend to gather up anything else that is part of history that might be of some importance or for reference to pack either it by myth, legend or truth.

Guardians - Are a larger branch, usually consisting of a few wolves. Their job is to watch over the areas in which the wolves are in at the time. They are usually the bigger, stronger, and more loyal of the wolves to the pack. Amongest their watching duties they take to greeting visitors as well as chase them away if there seems to be a threat. Plus to their usual duties of guarding they also act as warriors of the pack when it is called for it.

Hunters - Are the ones who are very simular to the Guardians. Them being the larger and stronger of the wolves. They have been given the jobs of acting as warriors as well as hunting for food to feed the pack. An usually they bring along other pack members actings as mentors to teach and help them in learning to hunt.

Shamans - Shamans are the ones who take up the practices of being healers of the group. They care for the packmates when they have been weakened or wounded by any means. In sorts they are also like Guardians as they watch over the pack to ensure they stay in a state of good health. Serving more as doctors they are less to be sorts of warriors but, it is not completely unheard of.

Scouts - Could be considered the spies of the group. They are known to survey the territories outside of the packs area to check for danger. Being responsible for warning the pack they often stay in touch with other packs and keep friendly relations. Also they report any important changes to the Alpha and Beta. They keep up with the outside to share any information relating to any new packs especially by finding out who the Alphas are. Scouts simular to Elders from being the ones who also collect information by all means when it is for the good of the pack. Especially if an outsider has wandered and wanting to join up with their pack the Scouts are the one who are the ones to find out the details if so called wolf had been banished from his/her last pack. An just like the Guardians and Hunters, the Scouts also may act as skilled warriors.

Craftsmen/Tradesmen - Are the workers. In keeping with tradition the craftsmen/tradesmen have been around to supply their pack to keep them well prepared and be self reliant in case there are times when it calls for them to be away from civilization. They are the ones typically the entire pack may go to for their needs in trade. Be it for weaponry, armor, clothing, ect. Anything the heart desires that is that can be made, if there is a craftsmen skilled in such trade. The craftsmen specialize more in their choice of skill of creating things rather then other duties. Seeming less important to perhaps outsiders, they are a valued rank within the pack. After all if you can't do it yourself its good to have someone else who can. Whether they desire payment in return for their services is up to them.

Pack Members - Not all wolves hold positions, either for being new additions to the pack or not having deifined their abilities yet. The Alphas take great care in selection of which position a wolf will be allowed to maintain. As the pack members gain time in the pack, their actions will dictate if they are to be advanced.

Omegas
- The Omegas are the wolfs who hold the lowest ranking. Which is only higher then that of a pup. They are typically the wolves that are either very new to packlife and still learning or ones who have been lowered in ranking due to wrong doings. Usually they are given the responsibilities of watching over the pups while the group goes on hunts, making sure they don't wander off. Even as being their so called 'baby sitters' they may even growl or nip at the learning pups, teaching them the way of the pack and their place within the hierarchy. Though oddly enough in turn, the other adult wolves may growl or nip at the Omegas in the same manner for the same reasons. It could be taken as bullying but, it is a much more complicated situation then it appears. For survival of the pack it depends on the acceptance of the hierarchy and it is crucial to learn this well and early.

Pups - Within a pack of few bloodlines normally only the alpha pair will mate and produce pups. But, this not being one of those which ever pair will give birth. Along with the ones who are born within the pack, often pups are adopted in. Many pups in some way or another have become lost from their packs wandering off or due to just plainly losing their parents. Some will be allowed to remain while others will be chased off or even kills. Pups typically are not allowed to go on hunts until the age of 6months and then only when accompanied by the packs hunters or their parents.

Assessments - Are the wolves who have usually lost their own pack and place in the wold. Searching for a new home if they wish to choose to stay within the pack, they must prove themselves worthy to become a member. Some will never make it into assessment and others that have been accepted as an assessment may end up being driven from the pack. As most packs, they have their own requirements for being accepted.

Breeding: There is chances that a pair of mates can give birth to the occasional different, having children who have the shifting capability to some who just come out human but, still with the same blood that merely lays dormant.
