[From Old Temple Hunt job post] Dearmad was many things. Forsaken, dangerous, deserted, were just a few ways to describe it. For acres and acres, dried, cragged and dusty ground stretched. The sky, absent of clouds, and merciless as the sun whipped the backs of those who traveled across it. There was no grass, no shrubs, and only the ashen skeletons of what used to be trees. Dearmad was barren of life, but definitely full of dangers. Incantus roamed around in the air and the ground; between cracks and dents; slept under rocks and stretched their arms in dead branches. A deep-tanned woman with hair the color of sand waited at an outpost close to the Aldmerrian border. Strange how the rolling hills, lush trees, and wildlife cut off almost cleanly there. It was like someone snipped off a part of a picture and pasted part of a separate picture in its place. The woman was waiting to fill in the people who had accepted the quest on what they needed to know. It was a considerably long journey and was perhaps one that would not resolute in fruition, but it wasn't a chance she could take. In her fur armor and hide boots, she sat on a rock and allowed the sun's harsh heat spread over her. It was like a fevered hand wrapping around her body and for her, it felt good. "Where are they?" she murmured. Edited by Lilac, Sep 28 2016, 06:26 AM.

Violet climbed over a rather large ledge, leaning down to help Tourmaline up. "I'm beginning to think that taking this job was a terrible idea. How'd you convince me again?" Violet pulled a flask out from a bag on her shoulder, and took a drink. "I told you there was a chance I could die, and you insisted on coming as a healer. Do you need to cool off?" She extended the flask, full of a Cooling Potion, to Tourmaline. Tourmaline took it, and sipped. "I was making a point that neither of us should have taken this job. I want to sleep in a bed for once; plus using my days off from the lab for an errand that could get us killed isn't my idea of 'fun.'" Violet shrugged. "Well, we both need more mediums, and gems aren't exactly cheap. Look, I think that's the person who set up the quest." She pointed to a human shape in the distance. After a few more minutes, they came upon the woman. Upon reaching her, Violet spoke, "Bonjour, Madame. I'm Violet, this is Tourmaline. Are you the person asking about the Temple of Eleia?" |

The woman scowled. "About time you showed up," the woman muttered as she hopped off the rock. "And no, I'm not the one who inquired. I was here to meet you to give you further instructions. And please, don't say Madame. I'm not some married housewife or shopkeeper." A few stray, white-gold strands of hair fell across her face from the bun she wore. Her yellow eyes stared at the newcomers. Seeing neither dirt nor grime on them, she questioned whether they were capable for the job. The brown-haired one had scars and looked like she knew a bit of combat, but the other one looked too much of a mage type. Well, it wasn't her loss if they died. "My employers are looking for some scribes for the Greater Incantus, Eleia," she said. "Now, I don't know if Eleia was a real Incantus, or even an Incantus goddess, and I personally don't care, but they want all the records you can find on it. It's quite a desert up ahead. No trees, no sand..just the occasional big rocks you can take cover under and maybe a sparse abandoned camps. So I hope you brought your supplies. I'm not going to bother with my own name, but I am required to ask yours as well as your skills. So out with it. The faster you get going, the less likely you'll be here by the hottest hour: noon." |

Violet answered first. "Violet Fletcher. I'm an accomplished Alchemist, including Brewery, Temperature, and Elemental Alchemy. In fact, I have devised potions that give me small amount of control over elements for a brief period of time." As a way of demonstrating, she summoned a few glyphs, that appeared on a rock. The rock turned red for a moment, then shattered. "I'm also an accomplished swordswoman." Tourmaline was unsure of how to follow up this impressive demonstration, but tried anyway. "Tourmaline Cardona. I'm a healer, warder, and Sealer. I'm coming along to make sure that she doesn't die. I do have my own weapons, though." She retrieved her clip, showing the woman its three transformations before replacing it in her hair. |

The tanned woman didn't remark on their skills. Instead, she handed them a parchment with a sketch of what appeared to be the temple. Tall pillars, carved arches, vines and flowers everywhere, grass and trees hugged the temple at its side and a large fire stood out front on its path. "This is a sketch of something we found in our old books," the tan woman said. "Of course, the temple will probably look nothing like this. But if you pay attention to the architectural details, it might give you a clue as to whether it is it. The hearth was very important to the temple as Eleia was a fire-related Incantus. I suppose I don't need to say this, but Incantii and corrupted beasts are lurking about--as are corrupting witches and Moira. Try not to get yourselves killed. It'll be a waste if I need to have the job posted again. Don't waste our time." The tanned woman rolled up the paper and gave it to Tourmaline. "I'll guide you a little further in. I'm sure you can track back to the border by yourselves. Now. Any questions?" |

Tourmaline took the paper, taking in the architecture. "Interesting, I didn't know arches were common in the era that Eleia was around." Granted, she knew very little about architecture, though she knew a bit more about the history of the common Great Incanti. Violet retrieved the paper from Tourmaline. As she scanned it, she said to the woman, "What're you expecting us to find in there? Anything in particular to be on the lookout for?" |

The woman considered this. "A few tomes," she said. "Perhaps ancient scrolls with writing used for ceremonies. Books filled with prayers. Maybe a few urns, if you're lucky. It's likely that the ruins has been pillaged before, so you may not find valuables even if treasures were offered to the Greater Incantii gods. Maybe you'll find a few gems, how am I to know?" The woman turned and looked skywards, her hand serving as a temporary visor for her eyes. "Well, you won't want the sun to get too high," she said. "Keep heading north. There are some broken paths, they might lead to some of the old structures. Good luck." |

Violet nodded in thanks. "Well, Tourmaline? Shall we?" She began walking forward in the direction indicated, Tourmaline close behind, looking at the architecture depicted in the drawing. |

The area ahead of them was a slab of harsh, cracked and dusty pale ground. There wasn't much in terms of paths save for what appeared to be broken slabs of stone embedded into the ground and trailed in a line. Dead trees tilted ever so slightly at the gods' hot breaths of air. A few shadows slithered and retreated as the two moved, and up ahead, they would be fortunate to see a small camp site with a tent. A little boy whose skin was the signature chestnut brown of most Saads was walking back towards it with two jugs of water in his hand. A bigger man who wore heavy armor and had a map splayed out in front of him, was using a drawing compass on it. "So, we've checked there..." he murmured. "And the eastern region is barren, too. That only leaves west of here..." |

Violet gripped her bag, within which was her sword, upon spotting the strangers; however, Tourmaline took her hand from the bag, and said, "Calm down, that's just a young boy. Let me handle this; you look... Intimidating." Violet grunted in dissent, but relaxed her hand. Tourmaline raised her voice, calling out to the two... Adventurers? Explorers? "Ho! May we pass through your camp?" |
