Faction Application

A fantasy world isn't a fantasy world if it doesn't have guilds! That said, you might want to have your characters join certain guilds and organizations for their benefits or more adventures. OR you might want to make your own. While we want to give you as much creative space as possible, we still need to run a tight ship. We can't have a person running 10 separate guilds, after all. You'll also have to run by the plans of your organization or guild with a mod just so there isn't conflict. With that said, we'll be putting the list of approved organizations (out of canon, not in canon as illegal groups are fun, too!) here. If you want to apply a guild/group/faction feel free to tell a mod or send them a private message. We'll put approved factions here.

Here is the template for faction application:

[b]Founder/Head:[/b] Who discovered or is currently leading your faction?

[b]Vicinity:[/b] Is your organization located in only one area? Is it expanded throughout the country or continent?

[b]Purpose:[/b] What is your organization's main purpose for existing? Wealth? Rebellion? Prosperity? Getting kicked out of as many bars as possible?

[b]Description:[/b] Tell us about your guild. What does it do? Describe some of the activities in it, the kind of folk that are part of it, etc. Is it approved in its vicinity? Is it just for fun? Legal? Criminal? Try to put as much detail as you can.

[b]Background:[/b] How did your guild start?

[b]Estimate no. of members:[/b] How many members are in your faction or how many are you expecting? 10? 20? 100? We prefer you stick with small numbers first as we are not going to approve 100 NPCs just for your guild.



A few notes before you start writing up an otaku guild:

  • There's a limit. We're pretty sure everyone wants to put up their own faction and as big as Esterelf is, we can't have too many. They're hard to keep track of and some might be unnecessary. For this reason, we're going to monitor how many factions you have or if you can have anymore.
  • Be reasonable. Don't go over the top. If you think you can make a secret government organization where a lot of people are part of it and whisper "Hail, Hydra" or "Pancakes" to know they're members of the group, you can forget it. Also consider whether you really need to make this faction (e.g. specific plot purposes) or if there are existing factions that can serve the purpose well enough. You can't have a guild for everything.
  • Be realistic. Closely related to the note above, your faction cannot go without facing consequences due to its circumstances and choices. If it's illegal, we expect it to reflect that authorities make it hard for them and they can get caught. Is your founder capable of influencing enough people to join your faction? Are there means as to how they can get by (money, food, resources)? You have to commit to your faction and they have to face the consequences of whatever actions they take.
  • DON'T be OP. Same with character application, we expect you to make factions that aren't perfect or invincible. You can't have a thousand army battalion of rebels that can't be touched. You can't have a group of super-skilled warriors who can't be beaten. You can't have frickin' dragon-flyers with spesh magicks only they know and have no weaknesses.
  • DON'T overwhelm yourself. We said be reasonable, but you might have 10 guilds in your mind. Be wary that committing and managing several organizations. You're going to blow a gasket or get into trouble for sure.
  • DON'T do sketchy things without letting us know. You have an organization and they're gonna do something big. Before you charge into it, we recommend running things by us. We respect keeping things secret to avoid spoilers, but spoiling things to mods is less of a worry than having to change your story midway because you did something that shouldn't or can't happen or will raise concern with the board.

    Keep all these in mind and your faction should be good to go!
