Retcons and Story Changes as of 2013

Posted by Emerald Serpent (GMs) at May 9 2013, 02:59 PM. 5 comments

Since the last thread erupted due to misinterpretation, I am posting this to be extra super crystal clear as to what is a retcon, and what is a story change. Thread will be left open to QUESTIONS ONLY. There will be no discussion, no argument, no controversial posts in this thread, consider this the first and final warning you will receive, GM, RP mod, and player alike.

RETCONS

  • The Ashbringer was never destroyed in the battle against Arthas. It is held by Tirion Fordring in the fight against the Scourge Remnants of the Plaguelands.

  • Players still have their shards of Frostmourne, however, they were devoid of power, and only served the purpose of being mementos. The shards that were empowered were secretly taken by an unknown individual or organization for safekeeping. This is not publicly known.

  • The Warglaives were never destroyed at the end of the battle against Illidan. They were taken to a safe and hidden area which no one but a handful of individuals are aware of. Under the pretense that the Warglaives were being guarded by Akama, Morleru and his minions attacked the old Broken in an attempt to consolidate the twin artifacts. The Demon Hunter was left dissapointed when Akama fled after being defeated. In a nearby vault, two shards empowered with fel energy were found and taken, presumably of the exact same qualities of the glaives, as far as physical and magical boundaries go.

  • During the events of the Blackhand Wars, Redridge was never usurped from the protection of Kulthar and his men. Instead, the region returned to it's former status as a protectorate state of the Kingdom in Stormwind. A small and official force of Stormwind border-watch and peacekeepers are there to ensure Redridge's safety and ties to the Alliance are not compromised. The Woods, and more specifically, Kulthar has retained leadership of the land as petty-king. In return, the soldiers of Redridge must remain vigilant against threats from the Swamp of Sorrows, and the Burning Steppes.

Story Changes

  • While the Forsaken were largely successful in their campaign on the Howling Fjord, being able to take on the Vrykul populace, along with two Alliance bases in the region. Although the effects of the plague were largely devastating, Westguard forces were able to muster a way to combat it's enduring effects, and leave the area clean for the most part. After the cataclysm, however, a majority of the Forsaken had been recalled to Tirisfal Glades to assist in the Banshee Queen's latest conquests. The remaining auxiliary forces have been locked in occasional skirmishes with the Alliance, but neither side has the ability to stage a siege, or major battles.

As a result of these occurrences, Alliance survivors have retreated to Westguard Keep, and other Forsaken outposts have largely been abandoned save for no more than a dozen heads in each. Vengeance Landing serves as a port for shipping materials after receiving sufficient repairs from the assault that left it demolished. Westguard, on the other hand, is more of a trading post and pit-stop for travelers and adventurers.

Twilight Highlands Event System

HEY WUSSUP MY HOMIEZ, I GOT SOME COOL NEW SHIT TO THROW DOWN.

In Twilight Highlands, we're going to test out a new way to do events and progression. It will entail having more minor events more often, but also keeping the weekly (hopefully) major events for major story points.

How it will work:

We have taken 10-15 quests/quest chains on both the Alliance and Horde side of Twilight Highlands, and sorted them out into some form of order. These will be divided out between the various GM's and RP mods and done whenever it is most convenient. There will be no schedule for these, they will simply happen when there are enough interested people online to do them. They will be faction specific, and will vary greatly in theme. Some will be dimplomatic, some will be about fighting, some of them will be sucking Kurdran's dick. You can use these events to progress your characters and gain influence with different groups. There will likely be no gear or loot to be found at any of these events. We'll probably limit the amount of these events to being once per week per faction.

I need to stress again, these are faction specific. If you join a horde side one, you likely are not able to join the alliance side one. They will involve fighting both the Twilight's Hammer and the opposing faction, be it Horde or Alliance. To this end, neutral characters may find it hard to find a place within some of these events, but there will be several that it won't matter.

If you have any questions, post them below.

TLDR; THERES GONNA BE MINI EVENTS. THEYRE FACTION SPECIFIC. THEYRE GONNA HAPPEN. BE ACTIVE IF YOU WANNA ATTEND ALL OF THEM. MAJOR EVENTS ARE STILL ON.
