Quentin got worse when Dinah, their mother, split up with Quentin and filed for a divorce. After all that, it takes Dean a while to trust people.

- History:
- Life Before the Vigilantes: Growing up, Dean had all he could dream for, his parents happy, his sisters protecting him wherever they could, and even helping him on the way. As Laurel started dating Oliver, they both starting looking after their Dean and Thea. After protecting Thea a few times, causing him to the beaten up, Quentin showed Dean how to defend himself.
When the Queen’s Gambit sank in 2007 with both Sara and Oliver presumed dead, along with Robert Queen. Thea and Dean became each other’s rock to get through the pain of losing their loved ones. However, after a while, when drunk, Quentin started to take things out on Dean, blaming him for everything bad that has happened to the family. Quentin got worse when Dinah, their mother, split up with Quentin and filed for a divorce. When Moira Queen found out a year later she stepped in and moved Dean in with her and Thea at the mansion.
Dean took one of the spare rooms in the mansion as his own and was treated like a son by Moira, although he didn’t let the fact he lives with the Queens change him. The following year showed Dean and Thea grow closer together, competing in team archery tournaments together, and eventually when they were both 13, they starting dating after Dean confessed his feelings towards her, and asked her if she would go out with him.
During 2009, just after he had turned 14, while on their way to a charity gala, the limo was stopped by a few members of the League of Assassins, after injecting the three occupants, Moira, Thea and Dean, with a sedative, leaving the two females at the scene they took Dean to Nanda Parbat where he was trained in the league ways and treated as a Son by Talia al Ghul, a brother by Damian Wayne and a grandson by Ra's al Ghul. He earned the name Gharab, after the constellation Corvus.
Two years later while training with Nyssa, he was injured when his sword embedded itself to the side of his chest, but not too deep, afterwards while training with Ta-er al-Asfar she struck him on the wound, taking advantage like they are taught, and started to slash his tunic, not expecting him to collapse under the pain, her sword slashed deeply into his chest, making him fall backwards. After Talia was unable to find a pulse, he was taken to the Lazarus pit where he was resurrected. Unknowingly unleashing a bloodlust which would not appear for a few years. After a few days rest he continued training, all the while waiting for a chance to lead a mission.
Come 2013, he was granted a mission to bring back a member who went rogue, Ta-er al-Asfar, who was last scene in Starling City.

Dean invites Kirsten to the switch on the next day. After being given the distress app by Cisco, when asked how he held off Eobard for so long, Dean reveals that he is Starling City’s Blue Canary.
Dean then headed back to his mother’s place, who was worried about him as he was missing for a long time. Before he was about to leave to head home, Cisco calls him saying that he has a surprise. Heading to STAR Labs, he is given an upgraded costume like Oliver’s and Roy’s. Thanking Cisco and the others, Dean heads back to the Queen Mansion.
