  Dutch Law

New dutch laws:

1)
Germans can be punished without a trial. Men who had fought with the Germans in the Wehrmacht or Waffen-SS most be used to clear minefields and suffered losses accordingly.

2)
Dutch women who had sexual relations with German soldiers, can be arrested by the Dutch resistance.

3)
All Germans can be deported and there passports taken.

I would like to point out that point 3, 2 and 1 are against Human rights, and we i would like to see a meeting about these new laws in Holland.

Mr Lie.

OOC: Just write your thoughts about the new laws here, personally, i think their way over the edge. /OOC

You must remember that the Netherlands is a sovereign nation and entitled to make its laws as it sees fit.

By the end of the war 205,900 Dutch men and women had died. The Netherlands had the highest per capita death rate of all Nazi-occupied countries in Western Europe, 2.36%.[3] Another 30,000 died in the Dutch East Indies, either while fighting the Japanese or in camps as Japanese POWs. Dutch civilians were held in those camps as well.

We are very aware of this.

Though the sheer need for Dutch revenge stuns me.

These lines are what most stun me, and i wonder if the Dutch have to punish Wehrmacht and previous Waffen SS soldiers so badly?

Norway was to under occupation by the Germans, but we do not see the reason in punishing a minority, and punishing people who might regret their entrance into the Wehrmacht or the Waffen SS.

I believe that Europe should start throwing away the memories of Nazi Germany, and begin to look at the common German man as you would look upon a common English man.

That is in my opinion the only way forward if we want a peaceful and accepting Europe.

France is disturbed by these latest developments and will be watching the situation carefully.
Tremblez, tyrans et vous perfides
L'opprobre de tous les partis
Tremblez ! vos projets parricides
Vont enfin recevoir leurs prix !
Tout est soldat pour vous combattre
S'ils tombent, nos jeunes héros,
La terre en produit de nouveaux,
Contre vous tout prêts à se battre !

OOC: That might be, but this is just at the extreme, and if Denmark did it, i'd be sure to protest to.

Also, your saying that the resistance can take the women that slept with Wermacht and SS officers, and its 1947 <.<

But the main point of my protest is this very unnatural and anti humanity law. *nods* /OOC.

The US looks at these developments gravely and will continue to monitor the situation. We ask the Dutch why they are attempting to persecute other people in the aftermath of a World War fought to end such behavior?

Britain sees no utility in these laws, and views them as irrational.

Those who have collaborated can be tried, and if found guilty, executed for treason. There is no need for additional laws, and rather confused, ill-explained and badly wrought laws at that.

The treatment of female collaborators has already largely been concluded.

The expulsion of Germans, whilst within the rights of the Netherlands, serves no particular purpose.

Although having limited abilities the West German government is ready to take more refugees out of the Netherlands. Whoever fears to be persecuted is given asylum. If the ones conducted in ww2 any war crimes they will be punished by a German court.
All Germans and Dutch, who are persecuted by the Dutch laws, can come.

Due to the fact that diplomatic consultations were not entirely successful the West German government asks the UN for help in this situation. We are asking to solve the problem peacefully. The Dutch government severly violates the human rights and Hague conventions.

Yugoslavia suggests a UN meeting where the official UN stance on the subject will be voted, so we can start working towards abolishing these barbaric laws.
