Continued Unrest in Sudan

Continued unrest in Sudan is becoming extremely problematic and is being under reported and talked about through the international community.

About ten thousand refugees have fled various regions of the Sudan, from Karthoum to the Beneshengal-Gumuz region, to the southern most reaches of Ethiopia in Gambela. This influx of refugees is straining the border regions of Ethiopia. There have also been unconfirmed reports that Sudanese Arabs have even crossed into Ethiopia to harass refugees. The stories and interviews being told by refugees are alarming, and it is Ethiopia's official position that the violence in the Sudan is quite serious and worth garnering attention.

In the south, traditional tribes that have a history of violence between them are being pushed into one another once more by the artificial influence of persecution, subjugation and violence.

At the present time, Ethiopia cannot contain it's entire region, and is incapable of protecting these refugees. The government is also leery about getting involved in the matter as it will destabalize the Gambela region even more.

Ethiopia would like the UN to consider setting up refugee camps in these regions to ensure the protection and safety of Sudanese refugees fleeing Kharthoum and Souther Sudan. As well as send an investigating team to find out the true extent of the violence on the ground.

Signed,
King Merkinball I

Egypt shares Ethiopia's concern.

If Great Britain allows it, Egypt would like to move its troops into Sudan to help contain the situation.

Britain is in the process of organizing additional forces for the area, including Imperial and Commonwealth contingents; we do not forsee a lengthy extension to the current state of affairs once these forces, along with additional development and enforcement authorities, are in place.
