In addition to redeployments of Middle East Command forces, troop presence in the region will be augmented by a composite force from the Strategic Reserve (including special forces) and a contingent of Royal Constabulary, by further Imperial forces and by components from Commonwealth Dominions. Swift and overwhelming force will be applied to rebel forces and bandits in the area.

OOC: Imperialistic empire? lol

Yugoslavia suggests a international peacekeeping force.

Peacekeeping forces weren't devised until the 1960's , by Lester Pearson
We'll explain the appeal of curling to you if you explain the appeal of the National Rifle Association to us

OOC: uum..

So the word " Peacekeeping force " is not found in the dictionary until the 60's?

Or am i not allowed to have soldiers that try to maintain peace in a region? Is that not invented?..

Britain welcomes the South African contingent.

OOC: The concept as some are using it is a bit early, but quite doable. It just needs to be phrased in the correct manner. This type of anachronism is the least troublesome, as long as the important precept of context is kept in mind.

OOC: The use of foreign military forces with a mandate from an international organization to maintain peace and order is certainly not new even in 1948. The League of Nations organized such, e.g. at the Saar plebiscite in 1935 when peace was kept by 1,500 British, 1,300 Italian, 250 Dutch and 261 Swedish soldiers.
We just have to find another name if the term 'peacekeepers' feels too anachronistic.

/ OOC: Ahhhh, finally, some free time!

The past few weeks a military survey team has been dispatched to the diseffected areas where reports of violence have come from.

There are approximately 6,000 refugees in the Gambela region in the southwestern most reaches of Ethiopia. They are gathered in two area's that are somewhat removed from the border. These area's are near the small villages of Tol and Jokau.

In the Beneshengul Gumuz region, there are approximately 3500 refugees that are under duress and facing attacks from local tribesman as well as under harassment by Sudanese fighters of unknown origin outside of the tiny border village of Metema.

It is estimated that two standard infantry company's could secure each of the proposed camps. Field hospitals would be useful in these area's, however, Ethiopia would like to stress some caution in regards to sending field hospitals to refugees.

These are regions of Ethiopia that have almost no services period. To include healthcare services. So we are uneasy about international bodies providing healthcare for Sudanese refugees when the local people in Ethiopia have nothing.

These are perhaps the ruralist area's in Ethiopia. And we are not talking about America rural, or European rural. We are talking about Africa rural.

Report to the United Nations on Status of Sudanese Refugees in Ethiopia

An independent query into the status of Sudanese Refugees in Ethiopia has been conducted. The survey reveals that refugees who entered into Ethiopia before the insertion UN sanctioned peacekeeping troops are safe. Food security is questionable, but generally these refugees are getting enough to eat. The flow of refugees into Ethiopia has slowed some. This is tied to two things. Once the UN set up the refugee camps, and began protecting the refugee populations, tribesman that had been harassing the refugees immediately left, and began patrolling their lands more closely. This resulted in numerous violent confrontations. Refugees feared entering Ethiopia just as much as they feared staying in Sudan, so the flow of refugees into the country decreased greatly. Since then, the situation in Sudan has settled somewhat. Violence in the region has dropped significantly due to more pro-active presence of British forces. The UN in Ethiopia reports that Yugoslav and Swedish forces have performed well in Ethiopia. The UN highly recommends that these forces remain on the ground for the forseeable future as the future of the refugees remains unclear. Ethiopia has made an offer to patriate the refugees away from the unstable Gambela and Beneshengul-Gumuz regions and provide them work in fast growing government projects. Most refugees feel that they will never be able to return to their homelands, as their properties have been seized, and they belong to targeted minority clans. Until their safety and security can be secured, we recommend that troops remain on the ground at their present positions.

Yugoslavia will keep its troops in Ethiopia untill Ethiopia decides they are not needed anymore, we also offer additional manpower to be added if wanted.
