The Ethiopian government is considering military purchases for fiscal year 1950. It is unclear whether these purchases will come to fruition at this time. The military is interested in purchasing 50,000 service rifles. Primary interest exists in the AK-47. 10,000 light machine guns 5000 heavy machine guns There is interest in standing up a Navy. This is needed to ensure commercial security of ports of Masawa and Asseb. The government is mostly interested in security boats and cruisers that can perform these operations. Interest exists in re-establishing the Ethiopian Air Force as well. Probably on a small scale. Interest exists in establishing a training facility for the Air Force, as well as purchase of 8-24 fighter aircraft. As well as a dozen or so transport aircraft. Quality of equipment will be a consideration of any purchases. In regards to airplanes and navy ships, we would be interested in purchasing used ships to reduce investment costs. We will be purchasing goods based whoever provides the best deal, and are not obligated to support any particular arms dealer. Anyone interested in selling arms to Ethiopia for fiscal year 1950 may leave offers here. Final decisions regarding this matter will be resolved in July of 1949. |

The USSR would be proud, if we could deliver the required AK-47. Further we can offer the mentioned number of aircrafts, and we also could support Ethiopia in creating naval forces. |

France can provide motor torpedo boats for a Future Ethiopian navy. The Red Sea is well suited to small fast attack craft and we would be most happy to provide them. We can also provide fast patrol boats. |

The MG 1 is the bese all purpose MG on the world. It is rechambered to the NATO caliber of 7,62 mm. If needed it can be the original MG 42 caliber of 7,92 mm. It has a rate of fire of 1.500 shots and can be used as stationary MG, as secondary for a vehicle or mobile MG. The lafetted version has a range of max. 3.500 m, the one with bipod 800m. The price is 3.500 $ per MG. We also can offer Class 140 SBoats for 500.000 $. Although having only 2 torpedo tubes they have 2 reloads and are better sea going boats than their conterparts. With 1 4 cm and 1 2 cm gun these boats are able to defend against every enemy MTB/ MGB. In 1951 though the new Class 149 will be ready with 4 tubes and 2 4 cm flak. The price then however will be 600.000 $. Additionally we can offer the KW1 type patrol boat. It has 26 kn and is armed with 1 MK213 C 30 mm machine cannon. The price is 50.000 $. Also we can offer more military equipment including assault rifles, mortars and other equipment. Adenauer |

With the majority of the budget for 1950 ironed out, we are ready to take nominal offers for arms. Please leave nominal offers to any potential sales bids here. We need to see actual numbers for any offer. Leave them here in thread, or PM with package deals that you wish to keep secret. |

One Ethiopian politician was overheard saying, "The Soviet offer is incredibly compelling. It will be tough to beat." |

It is not our intention to begin a bidder competition. We just want to keep in mind to the Ethiopian authority, that our weapons are proved from the Sibirian Winter to hot summer in south Kazakhstan. Further these weapons showed up good attributes in World War II and the most important issue, they are reliable even with a small input of care. |

We are wondering if the United Kingdom is going to continue to tender this offer. July is coming hastily for bids. There have been no public naval bids. The Germans have made a private bid, but if no other offers are made, we will honor the German bid. |

In response to the UK offer, we do not believe we have a need for the Black Swan class ship. However, we will still pay $15,000,000 for the rest of the package. |
