If you guys think it isn't ASB, do you think it is plausible that the people of Denmark would willingly put their economy and their nation in such a precarious situation as Denmark is in now? Politically, it's just a horrible move. If you guys want to move, as such, then Bob had best be ready to take on the consequences of his actions. The implications of this as it has unfolded would have a significant downward effect on Denmarks society and economy. Losing all that crap from NATO nations would really be...not good at all...

In game, I am pretty impartial to stuff like this. Just so long as each equal reaction has an equal and opposite reaction.

This move is obviously going to cost Denmark, it would be ridiculous to expect otherwise, but don't mistake the Denmark of 1949 for the 1959 or 1969 or 1979 one. The Danish economy isn't that integrated with the whole NATO world yet but still somewhat in the process of rebuilding and a rebuild can take a different path towards other markets. Besides, economic sanctions has effects also on the nations imposing them.

Agreed. But when you look at in game stuff. What Simon did was pretty dramatic. The relationships that have been built between the UK and Denmark were greater than IRL.

Agreed up to a point. The hardest hitting sanction is undoubtedly the ban on Danish agriculture products: Denmark has to find new markets for that, possibly the ones that now loses the imports from Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands, France and Great Britain because of their redirection towards Great Britain (hmm... I wonder if Danish bacon will become an illegal luxury commodity in England like Cuban cigars in the USA?). The Nordic market could swallow some of it at the expence of other suppliers who become third part victims of the British sanctions.

Arms purchases can be made elsewhere, and merchant vessels too: that's just a loss of income and job opportunities to Great Britain. I have no idea whatsoever what a Mr. Page's Kiddicraft design could be, but I'm pretty sure that this particular sanction hit Mr Page more (it did cost GB 125 mill).

We are discussing it in Parliament right now, and we hope to figure the exact path we wish to take in the matter.

We would want to remind the British that none of the actions are labeled as a strike towards the United Kingdom, and we hope that political and economic ties will be re-established.

The Nordic council sees no reason whatsoever to worry about any military actions against the Kingdom of Denmark by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. After all it is hardly believable that a Western democracy would attack another Western democracy.

Denmark's Nordic neighbours will alert their armed forces to prevent any military 'assistance' from arriving to Danish territory without Danish consent.

OOC Just a random thought, but what if Denmark was worried that the Berlin Crisis could blow up? Maybe they prefer economic suicide to military invasion.

Sure it's not exacly reasonable, but it does make the game more exciting. Heck they didn't just switch sides.

The United States is deeply concerned by this development and will be watching the situation with great care.

US forces are welcome to be put on alert, many more times if they want, but if the American's feel that they perhaps want to discuss the issue, we would gladly invite the American President to Copenhagen.
