OOC: despite the lack of any Norwegian NATO application anywhere I pretend there is one, somewhere /OOC

As a result of the successful negotiations with the other Nordic nations about a Scandinavian defence union, Norway hereby announces its intention to leave the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. This will be done simultaneously with the signing of the Scandinavian defence union.

Circumstances has changed since the formation of NATO and Norway can't see itself defending democratic values like freedom of opinion in an alliance with dictatorships like Portugal and a fascist state like Spain, not to mention nations that blow dissenting views totally out of proportion and exact unjust punishment in similar manner.

Despite what will be claimed by nations hostile to Norway, this does not mean that Norway has abandoned its sympathies for the Western democracies. We will not in any way approach the communist dictatorships that hold East Europe in servitude and despair. It just means that Norway chooses to defend the values we hold so dear together with nations that hold them equally dear.

Britain wishes Norway well in this endeavour; we will not associate with it in any way, shape or form, but have no existential issues with this course of action.

OOC: Norway joined NATO through an answer to a PM.

Since Britain recalled their ambassador from Norway nine months ago we assume that their well-wishes is communicated through other channels. Nevertheless we thank them and wish them all the best as well.

The Republic of Iceland is most welcome to join us if she would so choose. We reiterate that despite what you have been told this is in no way any move to Soviet Appeasement.

We do not know why Iceland suddenly responds after hiding in the dark for 2 years, and then comes out and openly says we are appeasing the Soviets.
55 Danes kidnapped by Chinese communists and held hostage.
You are not forgotten.
