OOC: Not with Britain and the US standing in the middle acting to halt such an undertaking through a variety of diplomatic and political means. It may surprise some, but I am conversant with the historical background of the area, the nations and the disputes. I reach a different conclusion than there being no recourse save a self destructive war at this time; no amount of time seems to cure me of this heresy. Anyway, rather than go on with extensive OOC commentary and debate, see how things pan out. In any circumstance, there is a long time until 1953 and plenty can change. |

OOC: Even the USA and GB are not able to prevent such a conflict. If Cyprus would be given to Greece, this would mean a war. Example: Cyprus became a member of the EU, there were plenty fears of a war. Today there are still UN peacekeeping forces on Cyprus based. It pretty looks like the Berlin Wall. Sorry but this is a clear sign, that there is still the danger of war. Since the Independence of Greece in 1830, there is fear and hate on both sides. There were many military coups in both countries. If a democratic or whatever goverment would have allowed that Cyprus would have been donated to Greece or the other way around to Turkey there would have been another coup from the military, and then they were going to go to war. For sure! /OOC |
