Communist Party announces Five-Anti Campaign Beijing, China The Communist Party under the leadership of the Great Mao Zedong has recently announced a campaign to crack down to corruption within the state and in society. The people "must not be corrupted by capitalist thinking," said Deng Xiaoping last month (March 1952). "The bourgeoisie needs to loose their false ways in the interests of the Chinese nation. Corruption and dishonesty have no place in the People's Republic!" Deng Xiaoping outlined five "antis" to be eradicated from Chinese society: * bribery * theft of state property * tax evasion * cheating on government contracts * stealing state economic information. Several thousand patriotic party cadres and volunteers are in major cities such as Shanghai to guide the people and train workers and businesses. Workers are encouraged to file complaints and criticism against unjust practices of business leaders. In the fight against corruption the People's Republic will take no half-hearted measures. Businesses that are clean, assists the cadres and follow government policy will be rewarded. Businesses who did wrong should confess to avoid severe punishment. Those who do confess will be fined in light of their crimes. If the party cadres deemed it fit they may be asked to undertake a short course of self-criticism and reform through services for the state. For those who remained unrepentant they shall be considered traitors to the Chinese nation and be rooted out. |
