MATCH ONE

It was apparent from the start that the usually meek and reserved Karen was not quite ready for the brash and exuberant personality of Gunnar. The technical showcase the pair put on was quite brilliant, but Karen’s lack of killer instinct became apparent, and whilst she certainly wasn’t squashed, Gunnar’s competitive nature punished her for it. Punishing her for pulling her blows, he had her on the back foot for the most part, Karen’s main offence coming into play after she came back from an Irish Whip with a Running Knee Kick, taking Gunnar off balance, and allowing her to put her own British Technical style into play. Managing to get him to his knees, she took an arm, before wrapping him with a La Magistral cradle, only for Stahl to roll through, hooking Karen in his Stahl-Mission (Twister), Karen quickly tapping out to avoid any serious injury.

MATCH TWO

It was evident from the off that the rookie Rosaline was somewhat intimidated by the… unbalanced... Tsurugi, tales of his brutality in his home promotion of HELL well known throughout the wrestling community. From the off, it seemed like Tsurugi was playing with her, dodging her attacks seemingly effortlessly, building her frustration. She managed to get a few solid hits in, a Snap Suplex here, a Backbreaker there, but it seemed like Tsurugi may even have allowed them, showing little damage, at least until Rosaline caught him with a Discus Elbow, right to the temple! Tsurugi reacted like he’d been shot, staggering back, clutching at the ropes. Rosaline impulsively rushed in, looking to finish things, pulling Tsurugi upright… only to get a sudden Headbutt to the bridge of the nose, forcing her back, followed by an Unrestrained Confidence (Roundhouse Kick), landing perfectly, and turning out Rosaline’s light. Tsurugi placed a single foot on her chest as the three was counted. After the match, as he loomed over her fallen figure, out from the back came Wulf Erikssen, her “uncle”, and Jay Pride, her trainer, with Laurel Anne Hardy standing up at the commentary desk, all ready to intervene, but Tsurugi merely laughed at them all, waving them off as he joined his eyepatched attendant, Rebecca, at ringside, the pair leaving the opposite way, as Wulf and Jay slid into the ring to check on Rosaline.

MATCH THREE
Posted Image VS. Posted Image

After seeing Rosaline escorted out of the arena by the medics, Jay and Wulf stayed in the ring, ready for their own spectacle. A handshake opened the bout, with the pair quickly putting on what could best be described as a British Technical showcase that wouldn’t have been seen as out of place somewhere in the world of sport in the 70s. The crowd delighted in this, especially from the usually much more brawling focused Wulf, as the pair went from lock to hold to hook, back and forth, showing off an impressive slice of history. Jay managed to get in his World Of Sport Special (Pendulum Lariat), whilst Wulf even managed to pull off a Lady of the Lake, to the absolute delight of the crowd, transitioning the move into a Single Wrist Lock Monkey Toss! The antics continued, with Jay eventually being able to completely bamboozle Wulf with a completely new move, pulling off and amazing Russ Abbot Special, this time catching Wulf after with a Standing Hammerlock that he then rolled forwards, applying a Headscissors, and holding on for the pin, a move he named after the match as Dodge #83 (Russ Abbott Special transitioned to Dos Caras Clutch)!

MATCH FOUR

Sefa Alo hit the ring on fire, looking to impress from the off. There was no doubt he was physically Lyza’s superior; taller, heavier, stronger, but what he had in physique, she had in skill and ability. Luring him after her, she led him in an epic game of cat and mouse, trying to wear him down by diving in and out of the ring, over barriers, through the crowd, anything to wear him down, whilst chipping away at him as best as she could, even managing to catch him with Lyza’s Comet (Suicide Dive) as he struggled for breath by the barrier. Using his growing frustration to her advantage, she dodged a Spear from the big man, letting him crash into the ringpost, and as he stumbled back she caught him with The Space Age (Tilt-a-Whirl DDT)! She quickly applied a Bridging Jackknife, and secured the pinfall to get the win.

MATCH FIVE

Justin came into the ring very humble, looking forward to proving himself the better wrestler the traditional, old fashioned way, by proving himself the better man in the ring. Jackie Fowler came into the ring as Jackie Fowler, very quickly flipping off his opponent, before laughing at his hair and beard. Justin didn’t appreciate this, and tried to bring it to Jackie quickly, but the Bastard of Bowland proved himself an expert at getting under her skin, to the delight of the home crowd. Justin persevered, however, working through Jackies jibes (verbal), and jabs (physical), to actually manage a reasonable offence. It wasn’t enough, however, as Jackie continued his belligerent assault, finishing off by catching Justin first with a Glock 17 (Single Knee Facebreaker), followed swiftly by a Lancaster Bomber (Wrist-Lock transitioned Short-Arm Knockout Punch) to get the three.

Jackson Magnum arrogantly dismissed the bright haired Jynx as she sat talking to her toy gorilla in the corner of the ring, enquiring as to whether this was a joke. Angry at Jynx ignoring him, he quickly approached her, hauling her up by the hair, only to be surprised as she launched herself up and over him, spinning round to plant him with a Jynxomatic Rana (Spike Tilt-a-Whirl Headscissors Takedown)! Magnum struggled to come back, his early mistake of underestimating the young woman immediately becoming apparent, as Jynx proceeded to flit in and out of different styles, taking Magnum off balance. After successfully dodging her Lady Isabella (Meia Lua de Compasso), he managed to regain some ground by quickly striking with a Jax-El (540° Elbow), and following up with him MMA inspired strikes and ground control. After taking control of her a bit, lhe connected with The Blue Blur (Single Leg Dropkick), knocking Jynx back into her corner. Quickly grabbing Pow Pow, her stuffed gorilla, she quickly asked for advice, smiling and nodding as Jax pulled her back out of the corner, forcing her to drop Pow Pow. He hooked her up for the Godfall (Vertical Suplex to Knee Strike), only to be shocked as his face suddenly lit up, as Jynx hit him with a Fireball! As she dropped out of the suplex, with Magnum batting at his face, trying to put out his beard, Jynx shrugged as the referee announced the disqualification, picking up Pow Pow happily before skipping out of the ring with the gorilla on her shoulders, as the medics rushed to check on Magnum.

Still exhibiting an amount of her no-nonsense, no-prisoners attitude, Sophia was quick on the attack. Knowing the Liverpool based wrestler on reputation, Belmont looked to keep Evangelista at bay, trying to keep her from being able to get any of her killer grapples in. Evangelista, no stranger to a striking game herself, fought back, managing to knock Sophia off her game with a Battlegrounds Uppercut (Head-Hold European Uppercut). Evangelista quickly rushed in, looking to get into grappling range, but was knocked for six as Sophia let loose with a Guardian Knuckle (Gazelle Punch), staggering her. Sophia made the most of her speed advantage, keeping ahead of Evangelista for the most part, and rolling out of many of the Philippines representative’s heavier hits, all the while managing to land blows on her, wearing her down. After locking Evangelista in a Holy Cross (Flying Crucifix Armbar), to no joy, she dropped out of the hold, locking Evangelista up for her Vampire Killer (Wrist-Lock transitioned Short-Arm Moonsault Side Slam), but as she whipped Evangelista back, she ducked the arm, spinning up and around Sophia to hit her with a Pinay Legsweep (Tornado Side Russian Legsweep), rolling Sophia up to secure the pin!

The Songbird, still visibly favouring her injured knee, watched on as Kamijo’s wildly extravagant entrance, including a full chorus line of can can dancers dressed in “sexy” North Korean military dress performing to Aegukka (the North Korean national anthem), went on. And on. And on. Eventually the masked aristrocrat reached ringside and Ana, having had enough of waiting, greeted him with a Tope con Hilo over the top rope, crashing into him and sending his various attendants, chorus line dancers, animals and Blowjob fleeing for cover. He was quick to his feet, but Ana was prepared for him… or so she thought, as he caught her with a Genital Claw! She hopped in pain and discomfort, loudly crying “ewwww, ewww, ewwww” as he paraded her about, before dropping her with a Brazilian Kick, and parading about the ring some more. He turned… straight into a Triple T DDT (Outside to Outside Suicide Dive Tornado DDT)!
The action soon moved back into the ring. It was apparent that Ana had done her research, possibly seeking advance from her mother or uncle, in dealing with the Aristocrat. She managed to avoid the worst of his martial arts strikes with her circus inspired gymnastics, dancing rings around him, at least until Kamijo started using his more dirty tactics. The hair pulls and the eye gouges, all came into play to slow the Songbird down. More of Kamijo’s kicks come into play, but he wasn’t able to clip the Songbird’s wings, demonstrated when Ana ducked under a Roundhouse Kick, coming up to wrench Kamjio’s mask off of his face with a flourish, and a gasp from the audience! Kamijo promptly retaliated, letting loose a White Mist (Asian Mist)... which Ana ducked, Kamijo spraying the eyes of the referee! Ana took a moment to taunt the prince, wearing his mask as she did a little dance, provoking Kamijo to charge forward… and receive a Low Blow Punt, straight to the nethers! As the Newcastle crowd chanted the past catchphrase of Ana… “#ACCIDENT”... she giggled, before handspringing into the ropes and taking over the stricken Kamijo with a Pale Winged Passerine (Handspring Stunner). As the referee clawed the thick white substance from his eyes, Anastasia run the ropes once more, coming back with a Sturnidae (Running Shooting Star Senton), hooking the leg to get the three!
