MATCH ONE

Dragan Lukic, looking to surpass his performance in the Young Guns Cup, was unfortunate to find himself encountering the unorthodox style of Mexico City’s Favourite Son. His unique blend of lucha and catch was completely alien to the Serbian. Dragan put up a noble fight, but Pedro had the edge throughout, eventually locking him in The Ecstasy of Gold (Cross Armbar) out of a Tilt-a-Whirl, with Lukic resisting a while before finally giving in.

MATCH TWO

Crystal and Utopia, two very opinionated individuals, didn’t hesitate to let each other know exactly how they felt about each other, before wailing on each other with strikes. The KO Queen and the Uncrowned King went back and forth all about the ring. For every Pele Kick or Springboard Spinning Heel Kick from Utopia, Crystal came back with a Shoot Kick, or her KO Queen Special (Three Left Handed Jabs followed by a Right Hook). Battered and worn, they carried on, Utopia dropping Crystal with a Hammerlock Suplex. He ran straight into the ropes, coming back with a Penalty Kick (Running Punt), but Crystal rolled clear at the last second. The missed kick caused Utopia to stumble into the ropes, and as he came back, Crystal burst forward with her Super Duper Knockout Supreme (Superman Punch, with theatrics), taking Utopia clear off of his feet, and allow her to score the pinfall!

MATCH THREE

The Emirati al-Sayed put on an impressive show as hit the mat, but it just wasn’t enough to take down the Big Bad Brooks. Justin went in all guns blazing, and tossed al-Sayed from pillar to post. It was looking like a massacre, until Amar went for a big desperation finish, looking to hit The Scimitar (Spinning Sitout Sleeper Slam), but Brooks caught him, spinning him around and planting him with The Patron Saint (Murderplex), getting the pinfall in a decisive, but not perfect, performance.

MATCH FOUR

Danielle was fast, smooth and confident. KANAK didn’t care. The newcomer totally disregarded the multiple accomplishments of the Great Storm, powering through her offence as he tried to overcome her with pure power. Danielle struggled at the start, but as she got going, it didn’t take her long to take charge. KANAK managed to land some big moves, including a very impressive Pop-Up Samoan Drop and a ring shaking Snap Powerslam, but it was Danielle who took the victory, hitting him first with a Qoya (Turnbuckle Run Tornado DDT), and when that failed to finish the job, following up with The Peru Passion (Huracanrana Driver) as he rose, to get the victory.

Each knowing the other from their time in EXODUS, Kira and Vivi put on a good show. Kira’s technical skill, Vivi’s high flying acrobatics, both came into play, with neither the Priestess of the Loa or the Despair Eater really able to get ahead. The back and forth between the two continued unhindered, neither really having the advantage at any point, until Kira surprised Vivi with an Appetizer (Running Knee Lift). Slipping behind her as she staggered, her hooked her up for the Despair Syndrome (Inverted Headlock Takeover), bringing her up and over, only for Vivi to slip out of his grip at the move’s apex, twisting around into a modified Creole Surprise (Leapfrog One-Handed Facecrusher)! As Kira struggled to his feet, Vivi run the ropes, and as he got upright Vivi launched forward with a Hurricane Vivienne (Running Tornado DDT), spiking him into the mat, before getting the pin, using the ropes for additional leverage behind the referee’s back.

MATCH SIX

In the battle of the single letter surnames, Stacey was outmatched from the off. Fighting not only ring rust, but also the eldest of the Kaisers, she tried her hardest, but the Godslaying Beast would not be denied. Regardless of that, Damian did frequently leave himself open, allowing Stacey to not only land at one point a Stage Dive (Calf Branding), but also to follow that up with a Falcon Kick (Running Single Leg Low Dropkick) to the face, but it still wasn’t enough to put Damian away. All it did do was make him angry, and for her trouble she received the legendary lariat of the Kaiser Dynasty, the Death Dealer (Running High-Impact Lariat). It seemed for a moment that he might follow up with something else, but he eventually decided to just take the pin, winning the match.

MATCH SEVEN

Emilio was the bigger name. The more known individual. El Serpiente. But Noelani Tai was the Pacific Island Powerhouse, the Soul of NOZOMI, and much more of an issue than Emilio was prepared for. His lucha libre style was thwarted time and time again by her sheer power, her resilience to injury, and her unnaturally hard head. Time and time again she fought out of his grapples and holds with brutal Headbutts, even managing to lock in her feared Rarotongan Death Grip (Tongan Death Grip), but Emilio was able to reach the ropes before much damage was done. Soon, Vialpando re-evaluated his attack, realising he had underestimated his opponent. Slowly, but surely, he began to wear her down, avoiding her heavy blows whilst getting in his own licks like a mosquito attacking a rhino. After a particularly successful sequence, Noelani reversed his Irish Whip attempt, sending him to the ropes, only for him to leap up and fly off, connecting with a Springboard Moonsault Reverse DDT! He allowed the momentum to carry him off of her, rolling back into the corner, using the ropes to brace himself as he hopped up to the top, feet barely touching the top turnbuckle as he launched himself off with a Deseando Astro (Corkscrew Shooting Star Press), catching Noelani with all of it. He ricocheted off, but quickly came back for the cover, and got himself the pin.

MAIN EVENT
Posted Image VS. Posted Image

In the slightly mismatched main event, Aurora took on the relatively unknown Vicente Morales. It wasn’t the massacre many expected, with the Colombian indy star proving himself a competent luchador in his own right, but he wasn’t in the same league as the former Phoenix Rebirth Champion. Aurora dominated much of the match, almost winning with The EVP (Modified Gogoplata), but a well timed, and fortunately unseen, Low Blow from Vicente loosened her grip. From there, all pretence at a fair fought contest went out the window, at least from Vicente, as he sought to even the playing field. Any dirty trick or tactic he could employ, he did, effectively managing to, for lack of a better term, steal her lead from her. Focusing on keeping her down any way he could, he managed to hit her with a Hotshot, segueing through into a choke using the ropes that almost saw a disqualification, his release came so late. Planting her with a Running Single Leg Dropkick as she fought for air, he signalled for the end, drawing his thumb across his throat, before heading to the top rope. He launched himself high, looking for his Águila Negra (Corkscrew Senton Bomb), but Aurora got her knees up, driving them mercilessly into his rotating spine. Having had enough of his charades, the Queen of the Crossroads stopped playing the nice girl, and after savagely disarming him with a medley of kicks and knees, she hooked him up and planted him with a Ghostly Kiss (Rope-Aided Standing Shiranui), not only hooking the leg, but also driving her forearm across his throat as she secured the pinfall victory!
