MATCH ONE: WORLD CUP REDUX
Bernhardt Van DenBerg vs. Pedro Gonzales

Pedro was in the ring, waiting for the match, as Bernhardt came out from the back… only to be ambushed by Tyberius King! King, armed with a steel pipe, viciously beat down the Hellfire Club member on the top of the stage, before throwing him off into a pile of broadcast equipment! Tyberius then headed down to the ring! After a fevered conversation between WCS officials at ringside, and consulting with Pedro, it was announced that Tyberius would be replacing Bernhardt in the match!

The match between the two was fast and furious. Pedro, expecting a far different battle than the one he received from Tyberius, clearly struggled as he tried to improvise a new game plan. Ty, however, brought his BJJ training into the fray, keeping things at a controlled pace as he concentrated on working Pedro’s sockets and joints. Gonzales’ catch training flew into overdrive, as he desperately tried to fend off the attack from Tyberius. He managed to stave off the worst of it, but found himself caught with a Slingshot Sitout Suplex Slam, which Tyberius followed up with a Snake Bite (Sliding Lariat), straight into a pin attempt, but Pedro kicked out promptly.

Tyberius kept on the heat, throwing strikes hard, keeping Gonzales on the back foot. He whipped him across the ring, going for a Low Dropkick to take out his legs, but Pedro countered with a Diving no–handed cartwheel evasion! Tyberius quickly followed him to the ropes, only to be caught by an over the top rope Tiger Feint Kick! As Tyberius fell, Pedro followed up with El Destino (Springboard Corkscrew Moonsault)... ONLY FOR TYBERIUS TO CATCH HIM AS HE LANDED IN A TRIANGLE CHOKE! Tyberius grunted from the impact, but didn’t release his grip, leaving Pedro no option but to tap out!

Winner: TYBERIUS KING

MATCH TWO: WORLD CUP REDUX - wUC Joshi Tag Team Championship
Rosaline Davies & Stacey-X vs. SFIYA & Xiu Li Cheng ©

SFIYA and Xiu Li were on form, the two freelancers from Kansai Star Pro working in unity, SFIYA’s hard strikes working well in tandem with Xiu Li’s agility. Rosaline and Stacey had a rough time of it in the opening, the rookie Davies struggling against the veteran SFIYA. After a relatively strong showing of technical prowess from the Welsh rookie, she soon found herself rocked by a particularly heavy set of strikes, punctuated by a Springboard Roundhouse Knee Strike! Xiu Li tagged in whilst SFIYA kept Rosaline tied up with a Muay Thai Clinch, hitting heavy repeated knees before finishing off with a Lifting Kick! Davies staggered back, as SFIYA spun, and as Xiu Li ran forward she pushed her up in the air in a huge Pop Up, launching her into Rosaline with a Pop-Up Assisted Huracanrana! She went for the pin, only to have it broken up by Stacey! X pulled Rosaline to her feet, giving her a pretty blunt pep talk, before rolling out of the ring.

Xiu Li was quick to continue the assault, throwing Rosaline about with high paced Arm Drags! Davies charged in, and ducked an attempted Leg Lariat, before spinning and taking Xiu Li over with a huge Release German Suplex! With both out on the mat, Stacey started shouting for Rosaline to get over to her for the tag! Slowly she crawled over, getting to her feet and stretching out for Stacey’s outstretched hand… only to have her foot grabbed by SFIYA! The Hong Konger had got the tag out to her Indonesian partner first, and SFIYA had Rosaline in control. In desperating, Rosaline tried for a Mule Kick to force her off, but SFIYA twisted as she went for it, bringing her over in a Dragon Screw, before hooking her up in a Single Leg Boston Crab! Rosaline struggled against the hold, Stacey leaning in as far as she could, reaching for Davies’ outstretched fingers… inches too short… until eventually Davies managed to pull both her and SFIYA forward in a gargantuan effort, and got the tag!

SFIYA was quick to disengage herself, but wasn’t quick enough to stop Stacey from catching her with a Springboard Falcon Kick (Single Leg Dropkick)! Stacey quickly followed up with an Oklahoma Roll, but the veteran SFIYA wasn’t about to fall victim to that, spinning out of the pin into an Inside Cradle! The referee got a two before Stacey kicked out, full of frustration. SFIYA managed to grab Stacey in a Wristlock, before stepping over the arm looking to follow through with a Dragon Whip, only to be surprised as Stacey suddenly charged forward, running SFIYA chest first into a ring post, before following up with an Inverted Bulldog for a heavily modified Slam Dance (Running High Knee to cornered opponent to Corner Bulldog)! Stacey went for the pin, but SFIYA kicked out at two! Shaking her head, Stacey dragged her up, only to be surprised by a Headbutt, followed by a Discus Elbow! Stacey rocked back, shaking her head, whilst SFIYA got the tag to Xiu Li! Stacey staggered to get a tag from Davies, only to be surprised as SFIYA charged in, first knocking Rosaline off of the apron, before using the recoil from the ropes to come back and catch Stacey with a Leaping 540 Elbow Strike! The impact span Stacey around… right into a Shadow Vortex (Diving Corkscrew Enzuigiri) from Xiu Li! The Hong Kong half of the tag champs went for the pin, whilst SFIYA kept an eye out for Ros, but it wasn’t needed, Davies barely getting upright again before the bell rang.

After the match, as Xiu Li and SFIYA celebrated, Stacey got up in Rosaline’s face. Whilst not shouting, it was apparent that her words were quite cutting, judging by Rosaline’s reaction, before Stacey exited the ring by herself, Davies following, a little shocked, behind her.

MATCH THREE: WORLD CUP SEMI-FINALS
Danielle Vasquez (Peru) vs. Suzume Mitsuyoshi (Japan)

East met West HARD in this match, with neither Suzume not Danielle looking to give each other any quarter. Danielle, unsurprisingly, was quicker off the mark, charging in fast looking for her customary hit and run tactics, but it seemed like Suzume had scouted her, managing to cut Vasquez off with a Leg Lariat right from the off. She tried to take immediate advantage, keeping the match at her pace as she pulled Danielle up in an Inverted Facelock! She tried to haul her straight up into a Lifting Reverse DDT, but Danielle kicked her legs up and over, flying straight over Suzume and locking in an Inverted Facelock of her own, before twisting her around with a Rolling Cutter! Danielle went for the pin, but barely even got a one!

As both competitors returned to their feet, they locked up collar and elbow, quickly exchanging holds back and forth, a seemingly never ending string of counter hold and reversals as the two stars pirouetted about each other until Suzume managed to convert and Arm Wringer into an Arm Drag, holding on for an Armbar! Danielle was quick to retaliate, pulling her legs up and locking in a Headscissors! Suzume struggled against the hold, before powering upright, grabbing Danielle about the waist, before forcing Danielle to break the hold by reversing it into a Sitout Side Powerslam! Suzume wasted no time in climbing the turnbuckle, following up with a Bishamon Star Stomp (Moonsault Double Foot Stomp), but only got a two for her troubles as Danielle refused to give in!

Suzume kept control, keeping Danielle from building up her momentum, bullying her with punishing Suplexes, followed up with an Inverted Headlock Backbreaker! Not letting Danielle drop, she lifted her up across her shoulders for a Kiri-Sute Gomen (Fireman’s Carry Double Knee Gutbuster), only to be surprised as Danielle spun her legs out and round, reversing the Fireman’s Carry into The Heavy Hitter (Tilt-a-Whirl DDT)! Danielle bounced straight up the turnbuckle, bouncing off into a Split-Legged Moonsault, but Suzume got the knees up! Danielle ricocheted off, landing on her feet whilst nursing her gut. Suzume staggered to her own feet, and Danielle charged… Suzume fired out a Superkick, but Danielle ducked it, hooking Suzume’s head and running straight up and round the turnbuckle, into a Qoya (Turnbuckle Run Tornado DDT)! Danielle went for the pin… AND ONLY GOT A TWO! Suzume, kicking out on instinct more than anything, wasn’t able to resist as Danielle, went to the turnbuckle, and went for a Split-Legged Moonsault, hitting it this time… and getting the pin!

MATCH FOUR: WORLD CUP REDUX
Ai vs. Li Chen

So, this match was an odd one. For all the geopolitical drama between China and Taiwan out in the greater world, neither Ai nor Li seemed to bring any of that into the ring. That’s not to say the match wasn’t hard fought. The crowd quickly warmed to the easily likable Ai, whereas Li… well, when you look like an extra from The Ring, there really is only one way you’re going to be received. That said, Ai took advantage early, the cheers of the crowd fuelling her on as she got the better of Li in the early lock up, twisting through the various locks, before locking on a Wrist Clutch, and dropping into a Schoolgirl! Li kicked out with authority, evidently frustrated at being caught in a pinning predicament so early. Taking advantage, Ai continued to frustrate Li, capitalising on her anger to manipulate her into position to catch her with a Falling Neckbreaker, before following up with a La Magistral for the pin, Li kicking out at two!

Ai was quick to continue, hoisting Li onto her shoulders for a Stardust Slam (Standing Fireman’s Carry Takeover), only for Li to catch her with a storm of elbows! Ai staggered, Li dropped off of her shoulders, following up with a flurry of Knife Edge Chop’s to Ai’s back, before following straight up into German Suplex! Ai quickly found herself in a world of trouble, as Li Chen unleashed all of her frustrations in one go. Pulling her up and forcing her into the corner, Li Chen opened up with a series of Knee Strikes to the midsection. Pulling her out of the the corner, Li Chen spun Ai round and dropped her into the bottom turnbuckle with a Reverse STO! Ai lay, face resting on the turnbuckle, trying to recover… as Li followed up with a Double Foot Stomp to her back, forcing her down into the mat, getting a series of boos from the crowd.

Li Chen ignored them all, as she pulled the dazed Ai to her feet. Hitting one, two, three forearms, she drew her thumb across her throat to signal the end. She ran the ropes, obviously looking for her Thunderbolt (Front Flip DDT)... ONLY TO GET SURPRISED BY A GAMMA RAY BURST (Running Bicycle Kick)! Ai darted forward, landing the big kick, staggering Li. She followed up with a flurry of Open Palm Strikes, keeping Li unbalanced, before she tucked under the arm, looking for The Joshiplex (Olympic Slam)... BUT LI CHEN SPUN OUT OF THE HOLD! She also landed a Back Kick as she spun out, making Ai stumble forward as she pushed off her to get to full speed! Ai staggered around, turning back round… straight into a Thunderbolt (Front Flip DDT)! Li hooked the leg, and got the pin, to a mixed response from the crowd!

MATCH FIVE: WORLD CUP REDUX - LAST CHANCE BATTLE ROYALE
Anansi vs. Anastasia Starling vs. Emilio Vialpando vs. Hiten Patil vs. Jackie Fowler vs. Kai Cooper vs. KANAK vs. Noelani Tai vs. Ramesses vs. Tsurugi Kanemoto

The ten person Battle Royale got off to a quick start. Everyone paired off, with Tsurugi Kanemoto facing off against the “Menace of Mumbai”, Hiten Patil. This didn’t work out in Hiten’s favour, with Tsurugi very quickly disabling him with high intensity strikes, before dumping him out over the top rope.

Elimination: Hiten Patil!

Tsurugi took an opportunity to stake out a position in the corner, wearily watching the rest of the field fight. In the middle of the ring, Anansi and Anastasia were engaged in an epic display of agility and evasion, as the Ghanaian trickster and the Polish circus artiste cartwheeled and flipped about each other, both seeming to enjoy the chance to show off their acrobatic abilities rather than wrestle. The same couldn’t be said for Noelani, the Cook Islander taking the opportunity to try and get revenge for her tournament elimination on Emilio Vialpando! The Pacific Island Powerhouse wasn’t messing around, taking it to El Serpiente hard and rough, managing to actually get the better of him somewhat, to the surprise of many! Bullying him with her surprising power, she left him resting on the ropes after a vicious Headbutt, before taking a run up, looking to Big Boot him out of the ring… but Vialpando dropped to the mat, taking the top rope with him, and Noelani went flying over! It looked like she might save herself for for a moment, teetering on the edge of the apron, but Emilio flicked himself up from the floor, using the ropes, and caught her with a Rope Assisted Overhead Kick, to send her falling to the outside!

Elimination: Noelani Tai!

Emilio took just a moment to wave her off, before turning back into the action. At the same time, KANAK and Kai were mixing it up on the opposite side of the ring. The Australin had the New Caledonian’s number, Kai dancing around KANAK’s clumsy attempts to tackle him, getting his own hits as he did. With KANAK dazed after a Superkick, Kai tried to evict him from the ring, but the Islander was just too heavy, too strong as he resisted… until Emilio joined Kai, and taking a leg each they tipped him up and out of the ring!

Elimination: KANAK!

The pair quickly shook hands… before tying up collar and elbow! In the ring, the Anastasia/Anansi circus continued, each seeming to thoroughly enjoy themselves, whilst Jackie finally had “The Living Pharoah”, Ramesses, in the corner, laying a hellacious storm of boxing punches into the ripped Egyptian’s body! Jackie’s mouth moved a mile a minute, telling Ramesses to “Suck Me Cleopatra’s Needle” before hitting him with a Glock 17 (Single Knee Facebreaker), fully dazing him before sending him over the top with a huge Clothesline!

Elimination: Ramesses!

Turning back into the ring, Jackie stepped back just in time to see Anastasia cartwheel past him, giggling wildly! Looking exasperated, Jackie yelled at her to “stop pratting about”, and as Anansi came up with a Back Handspring into a Backflip, Jackie stepped in, catching him with a huge Knockout Punch, sparking the Ghanaian out! Anastasia seemed a little disappointed that her “playmate” had been knocked out, telling Jackie off, before Fowler managed to get her to help him pick him up, and dump him out of the ring!

Elimination: Anansi!

With Ana still telling Jackie off, the pair step to the centre of the ring together… only to be stopped by Tsurugi. Smirking, the Hunter in White adopted a fighting pose, and inviting the pair to bring it with a classic Bruce Lee hand gesture. With a characteristic “Fuck you Frog”, Jackie dived straight in, with Ana following close behind, complaining about how that’s not fair as she’s part French. Ish. Tsurugi’s skills went into overdrive, as he dodged about Jackie’s wild punches whilst simultaneously evading Ana’s more elegant kicks, the display not being unlike something from a classic Kung Fu movie. To the side, Emilio and Kai were still at it, the two high fliers fairly evenly matched. Still locked up, the pair only separated as they saw Starling come flying at them, having been caught right under the chin by a Savate Kick by Tsurugi! Kai and Emilio saw her coming, and with a nod both dropped to the mat, pulling the top rope with them, allowing Anastasia to go flying out of view out of the ring! Seeing Anastasia go out sent Jackie into a rage, and he went full Balrog on Tsurugi, Kanemoto struggling to read Jackie’s blows, whilst Emilio and Kai got back to it. Out of the ring, however, unseen to everyone, Anastasia hand landed in a handstand! Wildly giggly to herself, she began walking on her hands, circling around the ring to the delight of the crowd.

In the ring, Emilio managed to catch Kai with a High Knee, staggering him. Looking to follow up for big damage, he ran to the ropes, looking to springboard back with a Springboard Moonsault Reverse DDT… but Kai had only feigned being stunned, chasing behind Emilio, and as he landed on the top rope pushed him forward and out of the ring! Emilio managed to land on his feet, stunned turning round just in time to see Kai shrug a “sorry”, and turn back to the action.

Elimination: Emilio Vialpando!

Emilio’s surprise only grew as Ana suddenly hand-walked past him, waving at him with her foot whilst saying “HAI MISTER SNAKEYPANTS”. Confused, Emilio raised his hands, and noped the hell out of ringside, whilst in the ring Kai joined Jackie in trying to take out Tsurugi. Kanemoto had definitely taken a few heavy hits from the rampaging Jackie, but had got in some good licks of his own. Kai added some high speed kicks to the mix, pushing Tsurugi’s dodging and countering skill to the max. This furore meant none of them saw as Anastasia walked up the ring steps on her hands, finally flipping back to her feet on the apron, to a roar of applause from the crowd. After a quick curtsy, she climbed to the top rope, and walked around the ring on it, like a slackwire walker, the crowd stunned as she turned the corner, picking up speed as she reached the fighters, before leaping off, and as Kai got knocked back from Tsurugi by a Back Kick, Ana caught him with a Headscissors Takedown, taking both over the ropes… but Ana held on to the top as Kai went tumbling to the floor!

Elimination: Kai Cooper!

Jackie looked on shocked, as Anastasia pulled herself back up, skinning the cat… STRAIGHT INTO A REVERSE HOOK KICK FROM TSURUGI! Anastasia went tumbling to the outside, Tsurugi merely shrugged as the crowd started to boo loudly. And Jackie?

Jackie saw red.

Elimination: Anastasia Starling!

Even Tsurugi’s legendary agility wasn’t enough to keep him clear of Jackie’s punches, the Englishman going all in, rocking Tsurugi with lefts, with rights, body blows, uppercuts, haymakers, his entire arsenal. Kanemoto managed to get in some kicks of his own, but Jackie just powered through the blows, not even bothering to try and defend himself from them! Desperate, Tsurugi went for an Oblique Kick to push Jackie back, instantly following up with his Burning Strength (Black Asian Mist)! Jackie staggered, pawing the liquid from his eyes, as Tsurugi quickly looked to follow up… but walked straight into a Low Blow, Jackie lifting his knee square into Tsurugi’s crotch! Both men taking full advantage of the No DQ specifications, Jackie follows up with a second Low Blow, before flipping Tsurugi the bird, and hitting him with a Middle Finger Salute (Eye Poke)! Tsurugi staggered back, blinded, allowing Jackie to follow up with more devastating punches! Tsurugi reeled back, grabbing the ropes for support as Jackie closed in once more… Unrestrained Confidence (Roundhouse Kick to opponent’s temple)! Tsurugi’s lethal kick comes up… BUT JACKIE DUCKS IT! He grabs hold of Tsurugi’s wrist as the Frenchman spins away from him, before whipping him out, and catching him square in the chin with a Lancaster Bomber (Ripcord Knockout Punch)! Jackie stands over the stricken Tsurugi for a moment, shouting incomprehensibly at him, before dragging him up and dumping him out of the ring… straight into the arms of the waiting Rebecca. Jackie looks at her as she stares at him with her one eye, provoking him to ask “What the fuck do you want? A skull fucking? Get rekt.” before turning away from the pair, celebrating proudly in the ring as Jerusalem started to play. Shaking her head with a scowl on her face, Tsurugi’s attendant led him away, whilst a giddy Ana joined her friend in the ring, the pair celebrating as streamers hit the ring, and the sound of vuvuzelas filled the air.

MAIN EVENT: WORLD CUP SEMI-FINALs
[img]Jackson Magnum (Republic of Ireland vs. Jay Pride (Scotland)

The Celtic Showdown started slowly, the two competitors circling the ring warily, each fully aware of the technical abilities of the other. Eventually, they went in for the collar and elbow, Jay passed straight underneath the arm and slipping behind Magnum, and taking him down with a Double Leg Trip! Jay went into a Spin Move on Magnum’s back, rotating three or four times, before trying to lock in an Anaconda Choke! Magnum quickly scooted back, looking to escape the danger, and Jay let him go, Magnum coming up to a seated position… allowing Jay to take him down with a Front Dropkick! Jay didn’t waste a moment, taking Magnum’s wrist and hitting a Snap Arm Wringer on the mat! Keeping hold of Magnum’s wrist, Jay followed up with an Armbreaker Leg Drop, moving straight into an Armbar! Jackson quickly went into overdrive, trying to force his way out of the hold, but Pride didn’t give an inch! Magnum slowly worked his other shoulder up… only to get a boot to it from Pride. He tried again, but got the same response. Once more he came up, but as Jay lashed out with the boot he shifted slightly, catching the foot under an arm and falling back, locking in an Achille Lock!

The two men thought against each other, both in each other’s hold, neither wanting to be the first to relinquish control. It was Jay who broke the stalemate, bringing his other boot up and dropping it like a hammer on Magnum’s sternum, over and over, weakening his own hold, but simultaneously forcing Magnum to release his grip, allowing Jay to finally roll clear. Both men back up, each nursing their respective limbs. Magnum moves first, his legs both being in good order, charging in with a High Knee Lift, but Jay blocked it! Pride countered with a European Uppercut, but Magnum dodged it! Back and forth, evading each others’ blows, until Magnum managed to catch him with a Dropkick! As Jay staggered back, Magnum popped up, but didn’t see Jay slip backwards through the ropes, his thighs catching the the top rope and spinning him back down, bringing him flying out of the rope to catch Jax with the World Of Sport Special (Pendulum Lariat)! Magnum didn’t fall, but that didn’t help matters for him, as Jay slipped in close, unleashing a fierce Boxing Combo, Body Blows rocking the Irishman’s body, before a hellish Haymaker floored him! Targeting the same arm as before, Jay rolled Magnum up in a La Magistral cradle, but only got a two count before Jackson powered out, a cry of pain emitting from him as his shoulder takes the brunt of the effort.

Looking to finish things, Jay dragged Magnum back up to his feet, locking him up with a Double Underhook, making sure to put some additional torque into the injured arm. Jerking Magnum around, he looked to pull him up for the Tannadice Scrambler (Double Underhook lift to Double Knee Strike to opponent’s head), but Magnum blocked it! Jay tried again, really getting the pressure on that shoulder, but Jackson blocked it again, and then, in a massive feat of strength and self sacrifice, Magnum stood up, bring Jay up and over him before slamming him down to the mat with a modified Watermill Suplex, Jay keeping the Double Underhook locked on the whole time, delivering a massive impact both to Jay’s back and Jackson’s shoulders with the impact! Jackson just laid in place as the referee started the count, but only got the two! Getting to his feet, and heavily nursing the shoulder, Magnum took to the ropes, to try and get a plan together. Slowly, a groggy Pride got to his feet, and Jax suddenly burst forward, catching Pride with The Blue Blur (Running Single Leg Dropkick)! Jay was quick back to his feet, but Jackson was there also, and as Pride stood Mags leapt up onto his shoulders, and took him over with a Supes (Reverse Huracanrana)!

Pride, feeling the match slip away, was quick to his feet, even though he’s groggy. Magnum run in, and fired out a Left-Handed Superman Punch… BUT PRIDE CAUGHT THE ARM! He dropped Magnum to the mat with him, and locked in the Bicep Slicer! Unfortunately for him, they’re too close to the ropes, and Magnum hooks his foot over the rope! Frustrated, Jay breaks the hold, and takes a step back, allowing Magnum to get to his feet. As Jackson gets up, Jay steps in… but is winded by an Uppercut right to the diaphragm! Taking the opportunity, Magnum follows up with The Last Son (Sheerdrop Sambo Suplex), dropping Jay to the mat hard, and covering him… the referee counted… Jay got the shoulder up on the moment the referee called three! Jay felt he’d got it up in time, but the referee disagreed, giving the match to Magnum!
