DATE HELD: June 5th, 2018 on EVOLVE Network LOCATION: McKale Memorial Center, Tucson, Arizona, USA COMMENTATORS: Johnny Rodz, Winston Robinson MATCH ONE Jynx (Isle of Man) vs. Lowri Moss (Wales) A quick, fast paced match. Lowri wasn't quite ready for Jynx's unorthodox approach to the ring, and almost fell a number of times. Jynx's well known attention issues ultimately proved to be her downfall, however, as Lowri managed to distract her long enough to put her away with the Nos Da (Rolling Cutter). Winner: Lowri Moss MATCH TWO Carina Eventide (Chile) vs. Emma Sinclair (Scotland) This pair put on a comprehensive technical showcase, but unfortunately the relatively green Sinclair didn't have the staying power of her Chilean opponent. Although she managed to pick up a couple of pin attempts, it was ultimate Carina who won the day with a Silver Star (Standing Sitout Shiranui). Winner: Carina Eventide MATCH THREE Kai Victorino (Tonga) vs. Sigmund Werbenjagermanjensen (Faroe Islands) A veritable meat fest, the fans were on their feet for this one. Although Sigmund had the size advantage, it was Kai who had the weight advantage, and after opening up Sigmund's chest, literally, with some of the stiffest chops around, he scored the win for Tonga, sealing the deal with a Solar Destroyer (Gutwrench Sitout Powerbomb) that threatened to cave the ring in. Winner: Kai Victorino MATCH FOUR Ernesto Vallejo (Ecuador) vs. Ymir Ocampos (Portugal) The Ecuadorian luchador came full of vim and vigor, but ultimately it wasn't enough to quell the fires of Portugal's representative. Ernesto never really got any traction, and ultimately it was Ymir who picked up the victory, earning a submission win with her Deluge (Figure Four Necklock). Winner: Ymir Ocampos MATCH FIVE Aria Eckhart (Albania) vs. Jade Malling (Trinidad & Tobago) The jetlag definitely showed on Jade, as she was never really able to fully get to speed against Aria. The Darling had things all wrapped up, setting Jade up for The Chicago Cross (Inverted Double Underhook Facebuster)... only for Malling to manage to spin out, keeping hold of Eckhart's wrist and catching her with a Hurricane Jade (Leaping Tornado Armdrag). She followed up with a Jadestorm (Senton Bomb), and that was that, the audience left cheering her massive comeback. Winner: Jade Malling MATCH SIX Lyza Reyes (Costa Rica) vs. Pedro Gonzales (Mexico) Costa Rica and Mexico put on a heck of a show for the crowd, a full on mix of high flying daredevilry and technical wizardry. The match was heavily in Pedro's favour... at least until Lyza hit a major momentum turner with her Dreambodycatcher (Diving Crossbody). More high speed escapades ensued, ultimately resulting in The Space Age (Tilt-a-Whirl DDT) landing Pedro on his head... and that was that! Winner: Lyza Reyes MATCH SEVEN Rex Evans (USA) vs. Samedi (Haiti) Samedi, the undefeated monster of the Caribbean Wrestling League proved how he got that reputation, forcing Rex Evans into a defensive position through the whole match. On numerous occasions it seemed like Samedi had it, but Rex refused to die. Taking it the to outside, Rex used the very arena against the monster, wearing him down... but it wasn't enough. Back in the ring, Samedi worked the situation into a position where he could employ the Maman Brigitte (Pop-Up Elevated Sitout Powerbomb)... only for Rex to twist out of the Pop-Up and catch him with a Green Light (Standing Guillotine Choke)! Samedi fought... but it wasn't enough, and he eventually passed out to the hold, giving Rex the win! Winner: Rex Evans MAIN EVENT Dante Cutler (Jamaica) vs. Tyberius King (Transnistria) The main event was a huge one, with two world powers going at it. The action snaked back and forth a number of times (there's a retro Tyberius pun for you all), with numerous near falls from both sides. Tyberius just wouldn't stay down, even kicking out of The Rhythm's famous Guns of Brixton (Running Corner Dropkick). Ty mounted a huge fight back, catching Dante first with a Snake Bite (Sliding Forearm Smash), following up with an Old Reliable (Hangman's Neckbeaker followed into a DDT). That wasn't enough, and looking for the big finish, King set him up for the Kingdom Come (Fireman's Carry to Superkick), but as he pushed Dante off his shoulder, the Rhythm stayed hooked on, swinging round and landing The Creator (Sitout Reverse STO), getting the win for Jamaica! Winner: Dante Cutler |
