She’d taken to the streets of Vegas because she couldn’t sleep and because the mini bar was calling her name in all of the worst ways. She’d chosen the bar because she’d liked the neon sign over the stairs that lead down to the hidden speakeasy. Lie to me and tell me you’re single the neon had said. Kind of fitting, if you considered Lux Forté’s ex-husband Nick Sanders. He’d used that line on a couple of girls, according to what she’d found in his phone before they split. She slipped down into the depths of the bar, her movements serpentine as she let her hips sway to the music. The bar beckoned her but… She slid up and took a seat, almost laughing at herself when she ordered a virgin slow gin fizz. It was ironic, she wasn’t actually addicted to alcohol but Drunk Lux liked to make choices that Sober Lux wasn’t down with. Like the cocaine for starters. Drunk Lux loved the yay. But considering she was less than twenty-four hours out of lock up for assaulting Jason Jackson’s ex-fiancee and her friend Carolina Shaw… it was probably better to stay firmly in the land of the sober. On the other side of the bar towards the front was a stage with an small area for standing room only. Where one woman was living the sober life tonight, on the opposite side stood one wobbly Ashley Maldano. It was hard to tell it was her because unlike her wearing some tight mini dress with heels, she was dressed in her best pair of Docs, jean shorts and an old ripped up Sublime t-shirt. With a Coors in hand, her eyes were glued to the stage in amazement. Ashley couldn’t help but study the young talent, listening to the music they were playing. It wasn’t anything new that Ashley was a huge concert junkie outside of the ring, but unlike your typical concert goer Ashley seemed different. With a little notepad in hand, she wrote down something as she shook her hips to the music. As Maldano nodded her head after scribbling something down, she pulled out her phone snapping a few quick pictures before sliding her phone back in her pocket, turning to walk over by the tables. Ashley walked over to a nearby table that she had left her laptop computer and bag on. Normally in a place like that people wouldn’t leave their belongings unattended, but the southside slugger was prepared to throw down just incase anyone was feeling like having a five finger discount. Once she sat at the table her mind couldn’t focus enough to be writing notes, so she wrapped her lips around the beer bottle swinging it back. The bottom of the bottle seemed to be an old friend of Ashley’s, because the way she was drinking made her look like no stranger to it. As she set it down on the table and swallowed, her eyes scanned the bar. A smile crept on her face because for once she wasn’t having anyone wildly come up to her and ask her questions, and she didn’t have anyone snapping a billion pictures of her...to her knowledge. Her loneliness seemed to be everything she not only wanted but needed at the same time due to her stressful mind. Her eyes kept scanning the place before something...actually someone caught her eye. At a nearby table she noticed a blonde woman with a familiar face that has been in the eye of social media shenanigans lately. Given Ashley’s place in the tale that unfolded, she knew exactly that the woman sitting at a table not far from her was Lux Forte. Many thoughts crossed her head immediately, but first she scratched her brain wondering if Lux saw her or even knew who she was. But, without hesitation for very long, Ashley stood up with her beer and walked over to the table she was seated at. Can you believe everything you read on social media these days? Because lately, there’s been a lot about Lux and her good friends Jason and Bianca...and where Ashley felt in an awkward middle man position between two of her close friends, it all seemed to be becaue of one reason...the blonde haired killer in front of her. ”Violating your bond, so soon? Right after someone was so kind enough to bail you out when he already has ENOUGH issues to worry about because of events of lately?” Ashley snarled out, approaching the table crossing her arms over her chest, staring down Lux. You would think after seeing pictures of a broken arm caused by her this would send a message to Ashley to be careful who she speaks to and how….but lately Ashley’s tolerance and filter has been shrinking and shrinking and her old roots were starting to creep out of her. Lux bit her bottom lip and shrugged, tension in her shoulders as she looks up and instantly recognizes who stands in front of her. Wrestling wasn’t her thing but she watched enough combat sports to recognize Ashley. “Do you see a drink in front of me?” the blonde asked. Her words weren’t confrontational. She jerked her head towards the band that’s playing. “I came for the music… and to get out of my hotel room.” And her own head, but she doesn’t say that. “Relax,” she said, biting her bottom lip harder. “He shouldn’t have spent that kind of money posting my bail but since he did I’m not gonna do anything that’s gonna fuck that up.” ”I don’t need to see a drink to come to an assumption of what one would be doing in a bar..” she says, before stepping closer never losing eye contact. ”He shouldn’t have, but that’s not who he is. He helps others because he has a huge heart.” she says, before tilting her head studying her face and body language. Lux tilts her head, some of the tension draining out of her as she puts the pieces together. Ashley wasn’t in her face because of what she’d done to Bianca and Carolina. No, this was about the man she’d spent the last several days in Hawaii with. The man who was secretly on a plane to Los Angeles so he could ninja himself and his son into Vegas to make sure she was ok. Good. He needed more people watching his back. “He does have a good heart,” she said finally, meeting Ashley’s glare. “Which is why he needs people who actually care about him and not his paycheck or his fame.” It was a not so subtle dig at Bianca. Not so subtle because she was only beginning to scratch the surface of the number his ex-fiancé had done to his head. Ashley looked into her eyes as she spoke about her friend and realized something. She had a look that showed she cared for him, which took Ashley back a bit based on what she’s been hearing about the entire situation. ”Well then I apologize for coming up to you in a hostile fashion for assuming you were doing so sitting in a bar so sudden after him bailing you out.” Ashley said as she nodded her head before stepping closer to the table. ”I don’t think we ever formally met before, have we?” Lux shrugged as she shook her head, “I don’t blame you. It looks bad. But the mini bar in my hotel room looked too tempting and I’m not throwing away my thirty day sobriety chip for nothing.” The words are honest, no pretenses about this girl. She was too exhausted for that. The violence of the day and being tazed by LVPD had taken all of the brashness out of her. “I’m Lux,” she said, finally. “Sanders, technically but hopefully I can fix that soon. And you’re Ashley. So you’re either here talking to me because you’re one of the few friends of the purple haired cunt who care about Jason or…” Ashley rolled her eyes and shook her head at the second dig at Bianca. She moved closer and sat down next to her before tilting her head. ”Bianca. And exactly, if I didn’t care about Jason, I wouldn’t be sitting here right now. But he obviously cares about you and the amount he has done for my family without me even asking or thinking of it means that I am in no position to attack you for whatever happened between that confusing triangle. Bianca is my girl, and I don’t agree with how everything happened, but Jason is like family to me.” Ashley says, before sipping her beer again. ”And if you’re going to be around my family, I think it’s in my best interest to get to know you for you. Unless you’re aiming to break my arm too..” Lux snorts, sipping her virgin drink as she tries to deny the part of herself that wants something stronger. Alcohol was a slippery slope for her that lead to her doing stupid things. “I didn’t plan to break anyone’s arm,” she said, plainly. “I actually went there to try to talk shit out. It was bothering him that every time he checked Twitter those bitches couldn’t stop dragging his name through the mud.” Her expression softens, “He’s a good guy. Loyal as fuck even when he shouldn’t be. He doesn’t deserve what they were doing to him.” She meets Ashley’s eyes as she says honestly, “Jason didn’t touch me until she’d pushed him to the point where he cut her ass off. He didn’t cheat on her with me or anyone else, as far as I know. He’s not that kind of guy.” “It was hard to keep up with everything and how it happened.” Ashley admitted, looking at her her before drinking it again. Ashley looked into her eyes listening to her, sensing honesty in her voice but kept her face plain. ”He’s a good guy, just like Bianca is a good girl. The two clearly weren’t compatible because this would never have happened. It escalated more than it should have but it’s too late to change time and go back on it.” Ashley says, before looking at Lux. ”I never want either of them to have to go through that pain again… and since Jason is investing time in you with all this madness it’s only right to hear you out and not make assumptions.” Lux runs a hand through her hair, snorting as she looks down at her drink. “Investing time in me is what got him into this mess to begin with,” she said, with a shrug. “He probably shouldn’t. I’m a fucking dumpster fire.” It was clear that the girl in front of her didn’t have a very high opinion of herself at the moment. Surprisingly, the blonde in front of Ashley is very different than the girl on the Twitter timeline. “My side of the story is fucked up. Because I shouldn’t have done anywhere near him but… I couldn’t stay away.” Lux shrugged again as she took a longer sip of her drink. “I care about him. Enough to potentially go to prison for him. I don’t know if that counts for anything in your book.” “People can’t help who they’re attracted to. It’s a two way dance. I think miscommunication was a big key here but like I said, what’s done is done and now it’s about moving past and building up.” She says, nodding her head. ”That actually means a lot In my book. That’s a huge.. thing. You don’t just say that about anyone.” Lux ducks behind her hair and shrugs, clearly not willing to admit what Ashley can see written plain as day all over the blonde’s face. She’s falling for Jason. Falling hard. “Just what friends do,” she mumbles, taking a sip of her drink to have something to do with her hands. Ashley looks at Lux and examines her face, reading it quite well but decided to take her bait and arches an eyebrow. She knew there was something more going on than what lead the eye, but she nodded her head in agreement. ”Well as long as you aren’t out here taking advantage of him and making his life much harder than it is right now.” She said, defending her friend even though her tone was much lighter than before. ”We’re going to be seeing each other a lot more often, and where I do not agree with a lot of things I’ve heard and how things went down, I’m not disrespectful to friends that are good to me and my family, like Jason is. So as far as having to worry about me pulling a Carolina and jumping you, you don’t have to worry about that with me...unless you try and pull that with me...then I can’t say you’ll be as lucky as you were…that also goes for if you hurt Jason in any way….” She says before cracking a light smile, hiding if she was being serious or not. Lux studies the other woman for a moment, before she shrugs and answers honestly. “If I hurt Jase, you can come for me and I’ll stand there with my hands down.” She sighs and drags a hand through her hair. “What happened and what people say happened are two different things. I’ll fight the whole world if I have to but I’m tired of people dragging his name through the mud when all he’s done is defend mine as a friend.” The blonde grabs her drink and drains the rest of the glass, likely wishing it were something stronger than it is. “He could have easily put everything that happened on me. Fucked up, not sober Lux makes bad decisions and gets crucified for them. It’s kind of a thing that happens. I even offered to take the heat so he could go back to his life and… he wouldn’t do it. So I’m not gonna abandon him even if you did want to jump me.” Lux looks up finally, catching Ashley’s eye with a small smile that shows she knows that Ashley genuinely cares about the man in question. “Bygones?” she offers, borrowing her friend Dom Harter’s phrase. Ashley raised her eyebrow for a moment before nodding her head and extending out her hand for a shake. ”Bygones.” she said with her own smile, shaking her hand making it her calm demeanor known. |
