The Origin of the Church of Kytan:

During the early days of the 6th age there was much turmoil and confusion. The many kingdoms and city states which were once part of the Old Imperium vied for power and dominance in the vacuum of the Interregnum. There were some, seeking a reason for the chaos, who blamed the Divines themselves. Others denied the existence of the Divines at all. It was in this time of upheaval that The Prophets arose. The Nine, as they are sometimes called, taught to the people the Truth of Kytan, The One God, Lord of Heaven and Sovereign of the Universe. The Prophets revealed that over a period of 9 years, Kytan himself had dwelt among them instructing them in his Truth. Just before his departure back to the heavens, he charged them strictly with teaching the Truth to the lost of the Old Imperium and prepare the faithful for his return. For the next 9 years The Prophets spread their message throughout the land, teaching the rich and the poor, the high and the low, the message of Truth. As was foretold by The Lord Kytan Himself, the faithful grew in number. People from the various kingdoms repented of their pagan past and turned to The One God revealed to them through His Nine Prophets. The Church of Kytan, The One God, was established.
The end of the 9 year period, known as the Time of the Telling, Kytan again appeared to his Prophets. He commanded that the Faithful (those who heeded the teachings of His Nine) assemble together and prepare for a great journey to a land of promise; a land free of the turmoil of the Interregnum, "Kyto Grizmalta". On the 9th Day of the 9th month in the 9th year of the Telling,v21 thousand Faithful assembled from all across the lands of the Old Imperium,on the western cost of Illea (to the south of present day Medici) to await the will of Kytan. There The Lord of Heaven appeared to His people, in the presence of The Nine and blessed them and the Great Pilgrimage they were about to embark upon. They boarded ships which the Prophets had purchased with the love gifts of the Faithful and set sail to the West in search of the land of promise.
After many weeks aboard their ships, after storms and sickness and trials at sea, the Faithful came ashore on the coast of Samria. There they were greeted by Kytan himself. They found there a land of mountains and forests full of game, rivers and lakes filled to the brink with fish. It was a land of plenty, untouched by the hand of men. In this land, Kyto Grizmalta (Land of the Peace of Kytan) they set out to create a great Kingdom of Conscience, guided by The Truth of Kytan and led by his Prophets.

The Church of Kytan Organization:

The Church was established and organized under the leadership of The Prophets shortly after the Faithful arrived in Kyto Grizmalta. The Truth (a record of the teachings of Kytan given to the Prophets) and the Writings (the collected letters and instruction of His Nine) were codified in this period as well. The church was set up to be largely decentralized. Until their death, the Nine lead the church and guided it as a whole. Upon their deaths, however, no centralized governing body was established. Rather, the people viewed Kytan himself as the Head of the Church and no earthly leadership existed above the congregational level. Each church selects Elders from among them (according the qualifications in the Writings) who serve as spiritual leaders and Deacons who serve in various capacities within the congregation. Congregations are completely autonomous though cooperation is common and encouraged.
The Church is lead by Lay-Clergy who dedicate their life to the service of Kytan. While some are supported directly by their congregations, many others serve without monetary compensation. Every member of the Church is encouraged to study the Truth and the Writings from themselves and not depend on clergy to interpret scripture to them. It is a fundamental tenant that the Truth is to be lived out not just memorized. It guides the daily lives of every follower of The One God.

The Church in Modern Grismalt:

The Church of Kytan is both the official religion of Grismalt and by far the most followed religion in the country. Census data shows that over 94% of the population profess to be Kytanians with over 71% attending weekly worship. The Crown actively supports and promotes the Church and the government is guided by its teachings. While Grismalt is a Kytanian nation, other religions are protected under the law. Because love of ones neighbor is a chief tenant of the Truth, other religions such as the Divine Faith are practiced openly without fear of persecution.

Due to the ongoing RP Gilded Pastures and ongoing Imperial Election Romanor does not have a "Leader" but instead the entire Imperistarium will act as such in this period known as the Interregnal.
