For centuries the Empire of Earth reigned over its the houses in with a weary eye, Warlords of the Void is a geopolitical strategy game set in a hard sci-fi setting. Players take the role of a "house", a family with power and wealth that rule over usually a few star systems. There is faster than light travel, but communication is restricted, requiring houses to send courier ships in order to communicate between planets (warp speed is faster than laser communication). The game is played by sending a private message to the Game Master (the person in charge of the game) with information on what actions you want to do for the turn. The GM will inform you how much an action costs, as well as its chance of success (from 1 to 10) and potential effects. Turn PMs may be formatted however one wishes, so long as it's legible to the GM. Players take control of a space faring faction, and fight for greatness, wealth, power, and prestige. fictional proto-national state in the equivalent of the Late Middle Ages. Beginning in "the West", the play area will gradually expand to represent the development of stronger international ties and trade links. Conventional nations wield power alongside great empires ruled by living gods, merchants barter with sorcerers over the exact value of life and death. |
