Okay lego This is all just brainstorming Missions I liked Plerbo's setup, which gave the site a much more RPG-like feel, opposed to just spamming PvP fights which were all the missions. They got boring, and winning became a priority, mostly because only the victors got stuff way back, so this might be partially the reason for all BS we had to deal with thus far. Plur's setup looked like this: There were a set amount of missions in every village. Let's say 10, each were different, so all villages had 10 unique jobs so to say. They all involved a mission target, for example rescuing a kitten, or delivering a letter, which would rank them D. Also, there was a given minimum word count you had to use to do the mission. They usually had a target location too, so you had to travel there write 500 words about how you rescue the kitten, travel back, turn the mission in and gain your reward, which is usually money, as well as a D-rank mission in your record. Then the mission is closed, as it has been completed. Also, only 1 team or person can take a mission at a time, so unless it succeeded or failed, noone else may attempt it. With teams, word counts are easier as 3 people have to write 500 words instead of one, but rewards are split as well. At the end of the week, all missions in a village that haven't been completed are given to the other villages, since the latter seems to be unreliable. Also, depending on the number of missions completed, a village's next batch of missions might fluctuate. Say, Konoha completed all 10, while Kumo just 5, so when the new week starts, Konoha gets 12 new missions instead of just 10, while Kumo only 8. We got stuck at D-rank missions though, which spanned up to 2k word counts, try writing that much about beating up a bandit or some boring shit. Word counts should be still there, but shouldn't be extreme, so people don't think of them as impossible obstacles, but let them immerse in the world through writing down their own way of handling missions. The minimum amount of words lets them rely on their creativity and get more out of their writing skills, it was the same with me. Stuff got actually more fun as my character's personality and relations developed through these missions instead of random battles or "talk" topics. Like, just fighting or chatting without and real objective or background turned bland quickly, for me at least. Well not early on because then that was all we did, but lately. Global Missions Global missions that affect entire areas, and can be completed by multiple people, though the same person can't complete it twice. Much like island events on Plurimbo's OP site. Either, we give them a set amount of choices, each with a different outcome affecting characters in a different way (fame, infamy, etc.), or we leave it up to the people to figure stuff out on their own, writing the most creative way to complete it, and reward them accordingly, giving them more freedom than 3-4 set choices. There will be a minimum word count here as well. Quests These are unique and happen once in a while. Any number of people can participate, but once it ends, its done, and nobody can initiate it again. Quests would be tied to events taken from the manga, such as defending a bridge as hidden rock, while leaf is trying to destroy it. People from other villages could help either side, though with consequences. Much like you described your thoughts earlier, and the "kidnap/rescue/assassinate" stuff we planned for Bonds. Maybe include some NPCs as well if certain conditions are met. Such as Minato supporting leaf if they meet certain conditions, etc. Difficulty of quests would vary depending on the average rank of people at the time, so Akatsuki etc. not appearing until later, while Kimimaro might make an appearance as early as Chuunin. Of course they musn't be strictly related to the manga, but I feel like it would promote higher interest overall to fight prominent battles, than random stuff, which will already be covered by normal missions. Like replaying Thriller Bark as Enel, putting his own mark on events. Or idk, something like that, I haven't put much thought into this part as of yet. World So basically there would be a world we would create, while minor changes would appear depending on people's actions. Much like how number of missions per villages change. Perhaps when a certain number of missions are completed overall, we introduce new elements, like rumors of Edo Tensei or Akatsuki. Then they make an appearance. Perhaps if someone investigates, they could get further insight, or even support a side, etc. So instead of a set final objective, such as defeating Zeref in FT or finding One Piece, the "story" would unfold on the way depending on the people who influence it, each having their own objective, originating from their background perhaps. Maybe its gonna be preventing a new ninja world war, while another Tobi tries to start it, or Madara with his Infinite Tsukuyomi as the last quest, wether people support his idea of peace or not, etc. Much like Mass Effect, where only at the end you find out about the reapers, until then you follow the leads avaible to you. This has to be elaborated on a lot as well, but these are my overall thoughts for now. A changing world like GW 2, kind of. Villages I'm not really sure about kage yet, as so far player kage were just as passive as NPC ones, from what I can tell people like starting as lesser ranks more, in the form of carefree adventuring and playing hero, opposed to going to war and politics (with a few expections like you and me). So for now, I would maybe put NPCs in charge, and as we move forwards we might make the role a bit more specific. With the NPCs controlled by us, we could do as we please, randomly start wars, make peace, do kage meetings, form alliances etc., to further influence and shape the world players adventure in. As for other shinobi in villages, generic ninja which the world war divisions mainly consisted of, there could be a set amount in each village under the Kage's control. For example, say 150 mist genin, 90 mist chuunin and 60 mist jounin, or something. These numbers represent the village's own military strength, without clans. These guys could know some jutsu, like genin 1 c-rank, chuunin 2 c-rank, jounin 1 b-rank & 2 c-rank, kai and basic taijutsu skills. So, would there be war, and say the aforementioned bridge scenario were to happen, these guys could cover for a side that doesn't have any real people participating. Much like team Minato versus those fodder rock dudes. Of course these guys would have stats too, so it would be hard to beat a fodder jounin as a genin, or chuunin, but the efforts would be rewarded with according fame and experience. Also, if outnumbered people would have to flee if not powerful enough. Should noone join, we would make a battle topic, with both sides fodder ninja, and after x days of fighting, if noone joins until then, the battle is decided much like auto resolve in total war. Like, in the topic, we display who is in favor regarding strength/numbers etc., and according to that a victorious side emerges. We could also add random factors, such as sudden reinforcements, and so on, or even NPCs leading armies, giving them an overall edge, and perhaps more reason for people to join. There could also be random skirmishes everywhere, where people could join in. We could also add cold war status, whereas shinobi outside their own territory can be attacked without consequences. Like this, after Akatsuki emerges from the shadows: Skirmish: Hidan Reinforcements: Kakuzu (1 day) Vs. Asuma & 10 konoha chuunin Reinforcements: Kakashi & 10 konoha jounin (3 days) Asuma has the upper hand, until Kakuzu arrives. So, you could help Asuma, and defeat Hidan before reinforcements arrive, probably capture him or something, or youl could help out Hidan, and draw out the battle until Kakuzu joins to own Asuma, earning Akatsuki's favor. Consider this like random encounters in Pirate Warriors. Perhaps someone else jumps in, and draws out the battle until Kakashi arrives, forcing you and Akatsuki to flee, etc. Or Madara No reinforcements. Vs. Gaara, Ounoki, 120 alliance chuunin, 90 alliance jounin Reinforcements: Mei, A, Tsunade (when half of the allied forces are defeated) Jump in and get fucked by Madara's meteor either way, unless you are baller and can actually help him out without being in the way, or try to help the alliance survive/win since Madara clearly has the upper hand. These scenarios aren't forced on people, since they will be resolved either way, whether or not they have a part in it. From what I've seen and experienced, people get turned off by forced invasions, etc., how everything is decided by them. However, like this, the world shapes itself, and with everyone sitting on their passive asses, doing nothing, Madara will just pull off Infinite Tsukuyomi after raping the alliance and that's that. Its optional to try and interfere, one could hinder Akatsuki, or the villages from unifying to support Madara, there are so many possibilities, from small skirmishes to the final battle. I'm even considering leaving Naruto and Sasuke out, let someone else randomly inherit Asura and Indra's chakra, and let them decide if they want to stop Madara or not, though this is still all just brainstorming. Clans I'll write more tomorrow yo I'm dead after typing this much You better read this faggot I typed a lot Edited by Sōrin, Dec 17 2015, 01:53 PM.
